lluisgib Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Thanks for posting the review! I'm a bit disappointed with the interiors of the shops, but it's nothing less of what I expected. The set is a must buy for me, still! I think the pizzeria inside is a bit poor.. And there's no oven to cook the Pizzas. How can they do this? The Bike shop is quite complete inside. If you visit a Bike shop there's not much to include, beside the furniture included. And with 2 bicycles and two motorbikes, it's quite enough, IMO Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 I think the pizzeria inside is a bit poor.. And there's no oven to cook the Pizzas. How can they do this? Thats quite strange. I thought it would be lacking because the building wasn't very deep, but no oven?! Guess we'll have to add one Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 2, 2013 Posted May 2, 2013 Now with the pizzeria, has anyone considered it might serve pasta as well ? Both it and the bike shop are giving me ideas for some fresh MOC'ing......time for some research. Quote
GRogall Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 More HR images! all pics link to HR version +2000.pxl! 60019 Stunt Plane 60020 Cargo Truck 60021 Cargo Heliplane 60022 Cargo Terminal 60023 City Starter Set 60024 City Advent Calendar Enjoy! Quote
just2good Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks for the pictures, GRogall! Out of all of those, I got my eyes on the Starter Set. The Cargo stuff isn't impressing me. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Wow the advent calender looks like it has some interesting mini builds. I really like the cargo truck too Quote
jonwil Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Is that a new forklift piece in the cargo sets? Best of the line is definatly the tilt-rotor, that pilot minifig looks great. And I love the nose piece and the parts selection generally (like the fact that it has 2 of the new ear protectors) None of the others look like they have enough good parts to be worth buying . Seems like for City 2h2013, the only sets worth it for me to buy are the race truck, city square and tilt-rotor :) Quote
Artifex Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks for the pics, GRogall! This is definitely City Year for me! Quote
Chocolatecake Posted May 4, 2013 Posted May 4, 2013 Thanks for the pics. That adventcalender is a must-have for me, much better than the one from 2012. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 'GRogall' you are our image Santa again.....a thousand thank's to you.......and I love that new forklift piece......plus those cargo sets are so cool......oh, dear mid-year toy sale time is going to be so painful for my wallet ! Quote
LEGO Guy Bri Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 You know, after getting a good look at the starter set, I think I will make a pass. Unless I can get it for 50%+ off... It just doesn't look all that great. I also think that the engine piece, atop the nose of 60019 Stunt Plane, should be dropped a plate or two in height. Love the new Cargo sets, especially the jet! Quote
Pop Bumper Pete Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 I like the orange forklift that comes with the cargo truck will find it difficult not to buy the cargo plane too Quote
lluisgib Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Thanks for the pictures. I love the Advent Calendar. Compared to last two years this time it a cool set. Regarding the cargo sets I love airport theme and one of the most important aditions of this wave of cargo sets are the new airport vehicles. Quote
Lordofdragonss Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 The new AC looks great indeed. It gets 8/10 just for pieces! Quote
lostdriveway Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Just having a look at the front grill of the Cargo truck close up - is that a new 1x4 grey grill piece or has that been available before? Quote
Rick Posted May 5, 2013 Author Posted May 5, 2013 Just having a look at the front grill of the Cargo truck close up - is that a new 1x4 grey grill piece or has that been available before? That's simply two of these next to each other. Quote
lightningtiger Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 It's great to see a female truck driver as well as a female air traffic controller to sit in the tower.....though both girls need fresher outfits. Quote
Jargo Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 The Coastguard sets are all lovely. I can't see a single thing I don't like in them. I do hope all the sharks are the new body though. After my moan about smaller boat decks not being wood coloured it's nice to see the fishing boat get a brown deck. I would have preferred a tan or dark tan one, but brown is an excellent step in the right direction. I still don't like that honkingly huge plane but everything else in the cargo sub-theme is great. I'm totally in love with the new pilot torso. I'll have to grab a few of those from Bricklink. The stunt plane is still horrible but I do like the little support vehicle that comes with it. Advent calendars aren't my thing. And I'm slightly puzzled by the astronaut with the magic wand. An odd inclusion. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Advent calendars aren't my thing. And I'm slightly puzzled by the astronaut with the magic wand. An odd inclusion. I don't remember if I read it here or on brickset, but when the AC pictures first came out someone had said that the astronaut was a possible hint and a City spaceport theme for 2014. I believe they cited the last couple calenders as having hints for new/returning themes. Quote

I believe they cited the last couple calenders as having hints for new/returning themes. Yeah, that was ResIpsaLoquitur and I. Space subtheme... confirmed for 2014? Hmmm, good point. I've always taken the Calendar as a hint of what's to come. 2011 had the police calendar; 2012 was police-heavy (with some fire). 2012 was a fire calendar, 2013 is fire-heavy (with a lot of police). So 2013 is...more space? Also, I had to take another look at the Spaceman. I don't take him to be a "fairy" as some people said--I think he's just supposed to be topping the tree. (Remember, this year's calendar also came with a want which was intended as the tree-topper for the previous day.) Spaceman flies, so it's a cooler way to top the tree than a set of stairs. What the heck is that vehicle, though? A car for that Octan driver? (I think I see some wheels in the background between the spaceman and fireman, so maybe it's a split-day vehicle like the fire buggy from this year.) Quote
tomdobs55 Posted May 5, 2013 Posted May 5, 2013 Yeah, that was ResIpsaLoquitur and I. Haha thanks for that I hope its true. Quote
lostdriveway Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 That's simply two of these next to each other. Yea thats what I thought but it just didn't look like there were any joins between the 2 pieces. Quote
Jargo Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 If there is a space sub-theme it would be kinda cool if it was based on the International Space Station. Maybe not the actual ISS but something similar. Somewhere for all those space shuttles from recent years to dock. Quote
Aanchir Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 Advent calendars aren't my thing. And I'm slightly puzzled by the astronaut with the magic wand. An odd inclusion. That's the star for the top of the tree. Quote
shawn_low Posted May 6, 2013 Posted May 6, 2013 The Town Square set craps all over my City Corner set. Ok, maybe not all over. But it sure has a nice range of vehicles, buildings and minifigs. Hope the RRP isn't overly crazy. Quote
