There are indeed many automated warehouse systems. But as Gekke Ted says, that's more for bulk items.

Mind you... I suspect there are people on this forum who, given enough Technic and a crateful of Mindstorms kits, could probably come up with something!

Lego systems supplying Lego systems...

Hmm.

Last year I saw an NXT Warehouse at Legoworld in Zwolle, so yes....it exists.

Ok this is getting very frustrating :( I'm buying parts for jurgens PF backhoe, iv over half the parts ordered but the rest are in lots of differant shops.

Could someone please help me out. I can't understand why there's not a list of shops with a huge selection of technic parts. There are some parts in this moc that are rare too.

Could someone give me a list of bricklink shops with a huge selection of parts please? ;)

Hi David,

Put all the parts you need on your wishlist. Then show your wishlist by Shop. This will give you a good indication of which shops are the best to use.

Here you can see my wanted list. It show which store has the most parts and how many unique parts. And the minimum order amount, if applicable.

For me it would be best to shop at AFOLSupply, since they have 607 parts in 23 different unique lots.

Umm...

Thats pretty much what the wanted list is for.

The best thing is to remove any prices, and condition requirements and then query the shops. In addition, your life will be much, much easier if you just buy partial quantities from shops so after you query you still need to click to show all items from wanted list. That way even if they don't have the full quantity you can pick up partials and get that much closer.

Most MOC's need about 15 orders to make it all happen...very rarely is it more.

Also, What parts are you talking about being rare on his backhoe. Its "next in line" for me and I don't see anything truley rare...just some that are expensive (PP wheels).

I second that. Remove any prices and conditions, that's important!!

I'm finding this a challenge too, partly because of those rear wheels. I'm willing to break up my sets to make this model, though - that eases the burden a bit. I don't have the display space to keep models assembled forever. The sets I own give me about 85% of these parts just as my starting point. It will still be difficult to get together the remaining 15% including all the PF parts I don't have yet.

You can buy parts directly from LEGO through the customer service page

https://service.lego...arts/#BasicInfo

You can select "Bricks and pieces selection" and find many parts by set number

after you put the order together, you have to wait for an email quote then call in to pay and complete the order.

as far as i know, their are no mins or maxs

It lists prices immediately for me, including shipping. And some parts are significantly cheaper than on bricklink.

Not in the US.

It will not even say the prices....it asks you to wait one to two days and they will get back to you with a price.

Also, its quite unusual for the price to be cheaper from lego unless the part is new and supply is very restricted on BL (the new 8tooth gear for example).

There are of course other exceptions which is why lego needs to still be on your list of places to shop if the part was made in the last 3 years and is super expensive on bricklink.

I think everything in that above order was the same price or cheaper, except maybe the red flex axle I need to replace a missing one. It hasn't been shipped yet so maybe I will still get an email with a different price, but I doubt it.

I agree that the smallish very common parts will be cheaper on bricklink, since lego has nothing under 0.10

That's interesting. In the US, you can get the prices right away but only if you call them on the phone. You need to have all the part numbers ready as well. I use that service occasionally for buying rare-ish parts in large quantities, but find that it's often easier to just go through Bricklink.

Ok I'm nearly done ordering for the pf backhoe,I'm 3 hours doing it :( very frustrating but I'm learning how to use bricklink,

Iv a quick question tho, the yellow panels for each side of the bonnet are not easy get, some shops have only one side and others have a huge min buy, also there nearly €5 each, would dark grey look stupid on it? Part 43350/43351

Also an other part that's expensive and rare in yellow is the soft axles 14 , :( part number 32201 , there's only one shop with more than 1 and his min buy is huge too! Could i just use any colour as there inside the mud guards?

This is painstaking guys, this moc is an easy €250 + using my 8043 and i have the PP wheels and some PF parts already.

I think 3D printers are going to add a whole new dimension to lego (and other plastic construction sets). Can you imagine what its going to be like to be able to print out any lego part ever made in any colour you wish. Particularly when you are not even restricted to official lego parts but if you spend the time making the 3d cad file then anything is possible like a 25L Liftarm. The lego purist are going to have problems with this and its questionable if this would be lego. After all build in MOC with in the confinements of lego technics is half the challenge.

I've put a decent sized order into Lego Europe in the last couple of weeks by set number, hopefully they expand this service and let you pay by card online, unfortunately one of the parts I needed was out of production, even though it said it was available. I'm just waiting for the parts to arrive. One interesting thing I noted, some parts were available on Lego pick a brick online cheaper and some were cheaper when you add parts to the basket based on set number.

It certainly expands the possibilities, maybe it will head to the USA shortly?

I had the exact same experience when collecting parts for the backhoe.

I ended up using the lime soft axles 14 from my 8284 tractor (they are almost invisible under the mud guards)

To get the yellow panels I bought a secondhand 8651 Jumping Giant for 10€

Hi David and all the others,

i read this yesterday evening and was somehow disappointed by it, because i feel the sellers try to do a lot to get things right.

Ok I'm nearly done ordering for the pf backhoe,I'm 3 hours doing it :( very frustrating but I'm learning how to use bricklink,

I am sorry its felt so frustrating to you, but its like learning to drive a car.

First you´re annoyed by everthing, once you figured out how it works, its pure fun and you ask yourself why there were such problems at the start.

Furthermore, its the curse of " the instant gratification"-syndrom of modern times, no one wants to invest some kind of time or thoughts anymore, which is not rewarded immediatly thereafter.

Anyway, lets try to ease your pain and get you some adives getting started with BL.

Also an other part that's expensive and rare in yellow is the soft axles 14 , :( part number 32201 , there's only one shop with more than 1 and his min buy is huge too! Could i just use any colour as there inside the mud guards?

I assume you are using the wanted lists with bricklink, which you uploaded and the data came from external sources like moc-inventories. i.e.

There is one thing which many of my friends and costumers didnt notice and got them angry.

Basically i am hearing your type of Problem a lot of times.

One way to speed up your effoert to get the right parts encounters the following problem.

As good as these wantedlists are, they are in most of the cases dull-"overoptimized".

Usually, they contain a number of parts, lets say. 70 #1 @ 5 cent , 20 #2 @15 cent and so on.

Using those as reference must lead to frustration.

You prevent your success because you ignore all the shops which have not the exact configuration of your list. this is total crap. In worst case you have to order those 70 pieces of #1 in an extra order.

Thats why you are so annoyed with minimumorders. The problem is you get not shown all the parts in the stores - only those quantities above 70 and below 5 cent.

I advise you to rework your wanted list. As quantity of each lot type 1 and as max price 50 euro or something. There is a line for remarks right next to it. In this line you type F70 - 005, which means you need further 70 of these parts and the medium price is 5 cent.

Do this with all the lots.

After you placed an order there is a link for "show items in wanted list". Open this, and your order placed in another tab and start to deduct the numbers bought from the numbers left. Your new remark would be F55-005 then. You will have to do this before every new placed order. Choose the store with the highest number of rare lots first.

I Agree, its a bit more work and only a work-around, but its leading to much better results:

-Min-order, is mostly no concern.

-Far less orders required.

-Pricing might be better.

Let the price just be a guideline. It doesnt matter that much.

If you could get all the 70 parts of #1 within 3 to 4 orders you will need anyway its no problem.

Maybe you bought 15 @ 10ct, 25 @ 2cent and 30 @ 5 cent. The medium price is still quite good,

and you don´t have to make a fourth order for this lot only, because you didnt buy the parts the sellers had in shop on your orders before.

I hope i could help you, getting okay with ordering parts.

Furthermore, it makes no sense to complain about rare parts being pricey, as for example the yellow panels.

There is NO stock of them anymore, NEITHER for the Sellers NOR for the Buyers. Thats why the pricing is rather high, if i could get a lot of these parts from somewhere, i would offer them, but there is NO material around.

So you might have bought an expensive part, but its prices aren´t likely to fall quite soon, which one could keep in mind, too.

Nice weekend to all.

Tom

One thing i forgot to mention, you´ll have to delete the items in the wanted list which come down to zero, i.e. you got complete.

And also add some again in case a seller is informing you of being short ? parts of #1.

That is a little bug with Bricklink which really annoys me, you manually have to delete an item from your wanted list even when you've purchased from a shop via the wanted list. There should be a check box when you add the min levels to your cart that says "remove from my wanted list"

Paul

Again, why were the 5x11 panels in orange restricted from Lego Direct purchase? "Mercedes License agreement", give me a break, what does Benz have to do with a plain orange panel?

That's news to me. I was able to order eight a while back (along with the other nice parts from that set).

I think if you live within their shipping zone (which I don't), Lego Direct works out pretty nicely for rare, in-production parts. It'd be nicer still if they had an online ordering system/catalogue and delivered further afield.

My friend from West Virginia was also denied when he tried to purchase the orange parts from the unimog... Even though they are the same orange color that Lego has made before...

Via customer service in lego sweden you can order up to 200 panels.

???

When you go to Orders Placed and you click on the icon just left of the seller name (looks like a scroll) you navigate to page where all the items on your wanted list that you just ordered are shown. Here you can delete them from your wanted list or move them to another wanted list.

I don't think 3D printers are ever going to take off and be used by most MOC builders. I have had the opportunity to see these 3D printers first hand and while they are pretty cool, their quality is nowhere near an actual Lego part, not to mention they do not have the glossy color that Lego parts do. If you add Non Lego parts into a Lego creation, it is not going to get respected as 100% Lego built model would.

I have been using Bricklink for 10 years and I never knew about that button! That will save me countless hours. The problem is that it does not show up by default. You have to go into your display settings and enable it.
