DraikNova Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 As the original name was thought to be Polar Xxpress, I'm guessing it's like Ice Planet 2.0. Quote
ReZourceman Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 If this is like Ice Planet 2.0 I will explode with excitement. I would like to add some speculation wood to the rumour fire.... "LEGO Galaxy" - could this be the first of an overarching space theme? Like LEGO City, encompasses mining, police, fire etc....this could be LEGO Galaxy, encompassing Blacktron II, Ice Planet, Alien Conquest - perhaps each year/wave focusing on one theme (Ice Planet) with some smaller sets dedicated to the other space factions (Like 4 x Ice Planet, 1 x Blacktron II, 1x Alien Conquest) etc. Supporting evidence - LEGO's somewhat "revival" or continuation of older space themes in the Minifigures. Piranha Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 More information from Brickset: I work in a toyshop in Australia, lego rep came in to do first half orders for next year There is no Polar theme, at least not in Aus for the first half anyways, oh yeah there's a space them as well I think it was called Galaxy Quest although I can't recall will have to check, looked kind of cool though, bit of a throwback to the space series lego of old! Source Looking forward to this. Quote
DraikNova Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I must say that ReZourceman has a good idea. I've wanted a lego remakes theme for years. Quote

zero1312 Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I'm going to take a very wild guess. Something tells me this is a reboot of Space overall, not just a small few older themes. Quote
just2good Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 I'm going to take a very wild guess. Something tells me this is a reboot of Space overall, not just a small few older themes. Good idea! It might be like a Super Heroes theme, but for old Space themes. We can have some aliens from AC and SP3 all in a station, and even an updated base from Ice Planet and Blacktron! Quote
Si-MOCs Posted September 7, 2012 Posted September 7, 2012 Let's not get too excited... Though there's no official word yet, so I'll treat this as hopeful rumoured dreams.... Though I highly doubt it'd be called Galaxy Quest - as that was the name of a movie. Unless they had the license for an obscure Sci-Fi comedy... "Aim for the vulnerable spot!" "It's a rock! It doesn't have a vulnerable spot!" Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Hm.. I'm ready for a nice new Space line, one that hopefully lasts. AQ was great, but we only got one wave. Hope this turns out nicely. Quote
Faefrost Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I'm drooling over a new Space theme. And the name would fit with Galaxy Girl and Galactic Patrol CMF's. But stupid question? There is or was a rumor of another Lego themed online game in development. Do we have any idea if Lego Galaxy is the proposed name of that? Quote
DraikNova Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 I actually want "direct" remakes of older themes, not just themes with the same background. And I've never seen LEGO do anything like Insectoids since it was released. Quote
Bobsy Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Let's not get too excited... Though there's no official word yet, so I'll treat this as hopeful rumoured dreams.... Asking people on Eurobricks to not get too excited when there's no information is like asking a polar bear to be less furry. Quote
LEGOMAN132 Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Sounds pretty cool if its true I just hope its not too flick fire happy. Quote
Blacktron Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 bit of a throwback to the space series lego of old! This is the part that exites me the most. There are so many MOC Builders around that do Neo-Classic Space MOCs, it would be great if TLG would go back to the roots themself. I imagine some red, white, yellow, blue and black astronauts, with the Alien conquest helmets. I wonder what the color scheme for the vehicles would be? I hope this rumor is true. Sounds great! Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) There are so many MOC Builders around that do Neo-Classic Space MOCs, it would be great if TLG would go back to the roots themself. I think that's exactly why they shouldn't go back to redoing those old themes. If there are plenty of people around doing a good job of revitalizing those old themes already then I doubt TLG could release anything as amazing. MOCers tend to splurge on their models and buy lots of parts to make them pretty, an official set's design and piece count would have to be a lot more modest to be affordable. I don't know, I say that as a cynical 20-something-year-old that thinks MOCers make way better things than any official set TLG releases, but maybe kids would love the updated sets and they'd be a hit. I wouldn't mind seeing official updates (or maybe a continuation/evolution of an older line like with SP3) but I'd rather get new space themes with new characters and designs instead. Blacktron Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 (edited) I'm most curious about those new space figures. Maybe the Collectible minifigures showed a direction in which these will go. I loved those astronauts. The new ones might be very similar, with the new style helmet and space suits in the classic colors. It seems the CMF line is a method of testing the waters. Like with all the classic movie monsters in the CMF line and now we got monster fighters. Edited September 8, 2012 by Blacktron Quote
DraikNova Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Asking people on Eurobricks to not get too excited when there's no information is like asking a polar bear to be less furry. Good comparison. And Blacktron, that picture doesn´t work. Quote
Piranha Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Another rumor to add from the Polar Xxpress topic: Actually its "galaxy squad" (or qest, not sure) but dont expect much of it. Its space based action theme (like world racers, Agents etc...) with childish figs and colorful vehicles fighting against some insectoid aliens (not 100% sure about this last). Too bad. I would very muh like to se "serious" arctic/space theme, with quality sets like lets say space police. Quote
Nakara Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Another rumor to add from the Polar Xxpress topic: Welp. If this theme is true, it would destroy almost any chance of the Space Marines cuusoo project getting approved (conflicts with TLG's own themes, etc.) Perhaps it was inspired by it? (ie red marines, "colorful" vehicles, insectoid ugokin) Quote
Faefrost Posted September 8, 2012 Posted September 8, 2012 Welp. If this theme is true, it would destroy almost any chance of the Space Marines cuusoo project getting approved (conflicts with TLG's own themes, etc.) Perhaps it was inspired by it? (ie red marines, "colorful" vehicles, insectoid ugokin) I doubt that. The Space Marine CuuSoo was in part inspired by the Galaxy Patrol CMF armor. Which they obviously made a mold for for a reason. We've been talking about insect enemies almost since we first saw them, thinking back to classic Heinlein. Quote
DraikNova Posted September 9, 2012 Posted September 9, 2012 I wonder if it will be like the insectoids sets of old. And since we know LEGO loves that type of thing, the sets would probably combine to form a giant insect. Quote
