just2good Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Not strictly true. Last year LEGO was very good at avoiding leaks, and we didn't get any pictures until a month before the sets arrived. In addition to what 'DraikNova' said, it also is less than a month until these sets are supposed to come out (one-off Winter themes always come out in November). Quote
tmgmlego Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Souds interesting. Might pick up one or two. Quote
Sid Sidious Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 In addition to what 'DraikNova' said, it also is less than a month until these sets are supposed to come out (one-off Winter themes always come out in November). Wasn't Palpatine's Arrest or one of the other recent Star Wars sets not revealed until about two days before it was on shelves? Quote
DraikNova Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Well, Star Wars has always had a different release. And wasn't that set you mentioned an exclusive? Quote
Laura Beinbrech Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Well, considering the number of early 2013 release themes and sets that have already been previewed, I'd be willing to bet that this theme won't be out until summer: I mean they have the Hobbit sets, new Friends sets, new Super Heroes sets, new Ninjago sets, new City sets, the Legend of Chima, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sets, and even a new TRAIN set coming out in January... That's an awful lot of new stuff coming out all at once, which, coupled with the lack of any info about the new space theme, means the most likely explanation is that this will be a summer release. Of course, if I'm wrong, feel free to say "I told you so." Quote
Scorpion Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 Don't take this the wrong way, but I hope we will be able to do so! :p Quote
DraikNova Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 I don't really care that much when it's released: if it's released in the winter, I'll be able to get the sets earlier and if it's released in the summer it will have more new parts and recolors, plus more excitement. Quote
Robominer Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 In addition to what 'DraikNova' said, it also is less than a month until these sets are supposed to come out (one-off Winter themes always come out in November). I think this will be a summer release. It's just that the names were leaked early, that's all. Quote
jasbury Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I think this will be a summer release. It's just that the names were leaked early, that's all. Could be. Either that, or Lego is doing a good job at hiding these pics As long as this theme is up to 'Lego space standards', I will definitely be picking up many of these sets! Quote
adreva11 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Im exicted for this hoping for something like starship troopers but with lego and a army of baddies for my season 7 cmf marines to fight Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) This has just popped up on Brickset...... Food for thought everyone ? Edit - seeing this reminds of the following....... & Edited November 1, 2012 by lightningtiger Quote
General Magma Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Those Insectoids are great, pretty much like what I hoped they would be. And now I'm wondering about the rest... "What is this newest threat?? Get ready to defend the universe from extraterrestrial pests with Galaxy Squad!" Quote
lightningtiger Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I wonder if there will be a super insect spray to take care the nasty bugs ? And I also wonder if this was any inspiration...... Quote
ZCerberus Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Food for thought everyone ? Looks like what we have been talking about. An insectoid type baddy. That looks like a set in the line to me for sure. Quote
Algernon Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Absolutely loving the Galaga feel to this. I hope we get treated to some real pictures soon. Quote
Jargo Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Nawwwwwww, they're adorable! Cutesy little wings and proboscii. Kawaii! Quote
Masked Builder Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 If all the ships look like that, I'm totally in! Those are just sweet! Quote
jasbury Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 This has just popped up on Brickset...... Food for thought everyone ? Hmmm... Very interesting! Still no pictures of the "Heroes", but those will probably show up soon. I guess this line is probably meant for a winter release. Looks like it will be bringing new trans-red pieces, perfect for SP-I MOCs! Quote
Jargo Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 If those trans red bubble cockpits are elliptical they'll be in the legends of Chima theme first. Quote
PenPlays Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Based on their looks, just2good is gonna be one happy bug catcher. That pic looks awesome. The Insect meets spacey hexagonal design is epic. Too bad they aren't like the other insectoids, but I digress. I will also be broke for the next 12 months Quote
just2good Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 This has just popped up on Brickset...... {pics} Food for thought everyone ? I will get ALL of the figures. All of 'em. Gonna make a Twitch family portrait. Based on their looks, just2good is gonna be one happy bug catcher. Quote
______ Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 I love them! New Insectoids theme, yes! Those minifigs look excellent and I can't wait till we see some more photos. Are they deliberately supposed to be like the Space Marine Cuusoo project? Quote
Algernon Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 (edited) Are they deliberately supposed to be like the Space Marine Cuusoo project? I would not be at all surprised if LEGO has taken some inspiration from the Cuusoo project, since there are noted similarities and LEGO has expressed it's enthusiasm for the idea. This bodes ill for the project, since there would be an issue with overlap if it is approved, but at the very least we're getting some kind of Space Marine theme. A couple of observations: - Purple pod on the back of the large Insectoid ship. What's the function? There's definitely some kind of play feature involved here. - Alien figs remind me strongly of Twitch. - If you look closely at the last panel, you can see the smallish outline of another vehicle type. More ship-like this time, presumably insectoid. Looks like we'll be getting some nice variety then. I appreciate the return of a sinister, potent alien threat (AC was a little tongue-in-cheek). And I absolutely love the Galaga vibe, as I said before. Definitely looking good so far. Edited November 1, 2012 by Algernon Quote
DraikNova Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Awesome! For some reason the big alien ship reminds me of an old Knex lizard. Must be the shared colorscheme. The thornaxx blaster/meteor blaster as a stinger and the long stalks instead of a simpler, shorter "arm" kind of make it seems less impressive though. The aliens themselves, well, I absolutely love the way that those snouts resemble mosquito's. More importantly, if there's a second wave for this, which I sincerely hope, the big set just must be one of those awesome bug ships. A giant scorpion maybe. Also, seeing what these aliens look like has convinced me that the CMF series 9 figure is meant to resemble these. Quote
