I like that LEGO is going to smaller boxes to help "save the environment" or at least save money in the process. I do like larger boxes so you feel you are getting more for your money and when the cover art is nice bigger is better. However, you don't always feel like you are getting what you are buying with some of these smaller boxes. I don't remember what set I bought recently that was bulging because the box was way too small for the set contents. No rattle at all. I think I had to pull the bags out instead of letting them slide out onto my table...

It might just be me, but when I first saw this guy's face, my only thought was "It's a trap!"

Very interesting. New white pieces used for the two front guns?

I like the uses of robots in this line, although I wish their looks were a little more consistent.

just2good, you are just too good! thanks for the two reviews!

It doesn't balance on the legs? What's the point of only having two of them? :hmpf_bad: *grumble grumble*

I do have a question; what is the second piece in the Insectoid's gun? 1. Scorpion, 2. ?, 3. trans-Magenta disk.

Thanks! :sweet:

'TragicBanjo' is right, the second part is indeed a frying pan.

Wow! While I do not like the ship, I am constantly astounded by how much NPU that set has going on! I can't wait to build my own Insectoid Arsenal. I think I may actually give my sig-fig the new gun as opposed to the trans-green Aquazone one... I've got allot of scorpions.

Ok, now when I see the sets in 360 I must say I will only get the 2 smallest set. The rest are VERY lacking. The moskito have almost none playability and it's just ugly, The mantis even if it's use some nice techiques is very bland too.

And the best alien ship is sadly in the most expensive set. Oh well, I will get some aliens via bricklink.

I feel sad for Billy Starbeam. He doesn't have a vehicle. His fish eyed robot chum has that little scooter but Billy has to walk while everyone else gets cool rides. I wonder if there's going to be an exclusive set sometime that will be Billy's vehicle? Or will he be the one with the walker in the polybag? If he only gets the polybag walker that's pretty lame. Why does Billy get no love, Lego? Whyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy? :cry2:

I'd agree , but after building it, the instruction manual places Billy Starbeam in the little speeder. So he does get a vehicle, just the wimpiest one of them all.

^What about Solomon Blaze? He is in two sets. Neither of them have another minifigure to accompany him (not including the robots).

I must have missed it, where are you finding names for the figures? 360 degree pics?

I definitely agree about the Ackbar similarity. Noticed it from the first leaked pictures. C'mon Lego give us some small sets in the $2-$6 range.

Solomon Blaze is a jerk. Just because his dad is chief of staff at GSHQ** he gets preferential treatment and gets to have TWO vehicles! Billy might only be a rookie but he's got mad skillz as a pilot and mech mechanic**. It's just not fair.

**Totally made up facts

The names were revealed on a German website a while back.

Blue: Solomon Blaze

Red: Billy Starbeam

Green: Chuck Stonebreaker

Orange: Jack Fireblade & Ashlee Starstrider

How is the Star Slicer ten dollars more than the Warp Stinger? It only has one piece more than the Warp Stinger, and they are extremely similar sets! That's a crappy move by Lego.

In a TV spot this would go on like "Now it's up to you! Build a great spaceship for Billy Starbeam and help Galaxy Squad save the universe! Well if this isn't a perfect reason to start a MOC.

But I agree with you. The red squad needs more men and more vehicles. Which leads me to...

That is soooooo true. It would be nice to build larger squads. Some small sets with a single figure would be very helpful for that. I still hope for the Galaxy Walker, but polybags are almost impossible to find in my area.

I dont like this theme anywhere near as much as I liked Alien Conquest, mostly because of the different color schemes with the different human ships and stuff.

Still, some of the sets look like they could be good parts packs and I DO like those big egg things that the bug aliens are using to trap the humans in. (just wish that parts like the 1 x 1s on the end of the ray gun were trans-purple like the egg things and not trans-pink)

In the Star Slicer set, are the blue pieces on the side of the little robot-piloted flyer thing new?

My wife and I had some business to attend today in Annapolis, MD, so we stopped at the Arundel Mills LEGO store to see if they had the Hobbit sets (they had all but one) and Galaxy Squad sets, which they also had.

I got the Swarm Interceptor, and I really like it. It is a rather nifty little fighter craft on its own, and it is packed full of useful pieces (the large tail fins and the cockpit piece in trans clear) for a good price. Furthermore, while I still haven't managed to do a side-by-side comparison (most of my LEGO stuff is still at my parents' house), as far as I can tell from looking at them in person, the Blue Squad dudes use the exact same color of blue as the ADU troopers from Alien Conquest, which will give me a nice way to keep expanding my ADU forces (maybe use the Galaxy Squad guys as pilots or a different sub-unit from the other ADU troops).

Needless to say, I'll most likely be getting more of these, money permitting.

The pieces in the Star Slicer are bigger, therefore they cost more.

We all wish those studs came in trans-purple, believe me. And those pieces are hubcaps from Cars.

Hey, Fugazi just shared this on the Heroica page, and I was surprised no one brought it up here yet:

http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=30230-1, and http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=30231-1

The colour's off, so I can't tell if the Mech features the red or the orange team, but either one is another team I won't be getting likely, so a definite grab fig-wise. The Mech itself is not too bad for a poly-bag and comes with that awesome chair piece. The practicality of this mech in any circumstance aside from being on a walking chair is quite debatable, but the pieces are fine!

The "Space Insectoid" features the green team (my favorite, colour-wise) and is therefore a sure grab for me because the set in which he comes is both expensive and not too appealing to me. He also gets a gun, unlike whomever's in the mech. The "Insectoid" doesn't look fantastic, but the face is neat. I don't expect these polybags to be masterpieces or even decent in terms of construction, so no disappointment there. I may actually keep one if the featured space bugs alive as some sort of drone to the main forces. The bug has some pretty nice parts though; the teeth, the viking-horns, the trans-neon green 4-1 tiles, and that smexxy dark-red arm-piece!

Overall, these are pretty great polybags. I'll probably get at-least one of each. I may get multiples of the "Space Insectoid." I wish that there was a polybag for the Insectoids though, that would be great for army-building (or, rather, swarm building) Ah well. If the theme lasts for a second wave, maybe we'll see one then... Although, a second wave is unlikely, And if it did happen, it'd probably feature different enemies.

I think the "Space Insectoid" set counts as an insectoid polybag :classic:. It looks awesome, and if I see it, I'll definitely get it. After all, it seems to have 1x4 plates in trans neon green.

The Mini Mech looks...interesting.

Sorry, I meant, featuring an Insectoid minifigure, either the Buggoid or the Mosquitoid. While the set is mostly for the Insectoid faction, it does not come with one of the lovely Insectoid figures. Not that I'm complaining: the minifiigs are one of the best parts of this line (aside from most of the androids, but that's just me) and I'm pleased that two figs that I would not have gotten otherwise, are featured in these sets. :classic:

I know. I wonder if we'll get new Insectoid figs in a possible second wave?
