Captain Settle Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Ok, now I have to aks...where do we get the polybags if not as a gift for a larger order at S@H? I only see them sometimes at the discounter and as addon in comics. In the UK there is a week, usually twice a year, where the Sun newspaper(that costs 50p) gives away a free polybag with each paper you buy. In October I got 5 Uruk-Hai polybags with only one paper! Jargo Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I've just bought Billy and his robot from someone and I plan on building him a vehicle more suited to his mad skillz. Still trying to find someone selling the sticker sheet. I'll want a few for what I have in mind.. Quote
Vindicare Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 At TRU I saw all but 70703 Star Slicer. It was really hard to resist buying these...but that markup. Quote
Captain Settle Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) I've just bought Billy and his robot from someone. Did you just buy the Minifigures or did you buy the whole set? If just the minigfigs, how much did they cost? Edited December 14, 2012 by Captain Settle Quote
Crackseed Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) Loving the theme - gives me hope for the future of Space. Definitely going to be a Red team fan overall, but I'm loving Green's Vaporizer as well. I'm guessing we'll see more of the lesser represented team in the 2nd wave. Now which ones to order...decisions! Edited December 14, 2012 by Crackseed Quote
Jargo Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Just the minifigs Captain Settle, Billy was US $5.99 and the robot was US $8.99. I saw them listed on Bricklink so grabbed them quicksmartpronto. Quote
Captain Settle Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 So that's £3.71 and £5.57 in the UK. Bargain. Quote
Henchmen4Hire Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 At TRU I saw all but 70703 Star Slicer. It was really hard to resist buying these...but that markup. TRU price matches now, so just take an ad from some other store and they'll give you that price instead. I'd rather just go to the other store but TRU may be more convenient for some. But yeah, the mark-up is crazy, the big $80 set was like $110, WTF man? Anyway, I think I'll pass on paying that much just to get new colored helmets, the sets are nice enough though. The body parts are easy enough to get for cheap and painting helmets is easy. Or you guys can just buy a bunch of the white CMF Space Guy and use powder dye, just dump a little acetone in there to help the dye take. Quote

Maybe I'm weird, but modding LEGO parts like that seems impure to me. Like I'm violating some kind of unspoken law. Then again, I'm one of those guys who triple-checks the directions and refuses to mod anything to keep the set as vanilla as possible. I'm OCD like that. Quote
Jargo Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 So that's £3.71 and £5.57 in the UK. Bargain. I thought so. They were he only ones listed unfortunately but I expect after christmas there'll be a positive herd of Billy Starbeam's up for grabs. I hope so. Ashlee Starstrider and Jack Fireblade are also on my want list. Though I may just go for the mini mech walker polybag to get an orange team together. I love the Bug Obliterator set but it is quite pricey and my budget is meagre. Quote

I love the Bug Obliterator set but it is quite pricey and my budget is meagre. I love the Bug Obliterator too, which is why I'm elated to have got it for cheaper than RRP. The fact that the American prices are cheap for us Brits is a small consolation for the fact we get the sets a month later in the UK. Quote
Brick Contagion Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) I wish stores had the Star Slicer :/ I like that set the most..... Edited December 14, 2012 by Brick Contagion Quote
Endgame Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 (edited) Finalized list of Galaxy squad sets wanted: >Vermin Vaporizer (Christmas) >Space Swarmer (Christmas) >Swarm Interceptor (Birthday?) >Warp Stinger (Birthday) This way I get 4 different alien vehicles, 2 Buggoids, 2 Mosquitoids, the robots and the heroes for the Red, Blue, and Green teams. (No interest in Orange team.) I maaaayy get the Star Slicer at a later date, because I like that red Buggoid and those arm pieces: I need to see more reviews first. ETAV8R Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 Went to a local TRU tonight and they had all the sets. Nice to browse them a bit but I wasn't going to get anything at the moment regardless of the markup. I was hoping to find some of the CMF9. None of those to be found. Quote
DraikNova Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 If I see them, I may get some (read: most (read: all)) of them for myself. Quote
Vindicare Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 If I see them, I may get some (read: most (read: all)) of them for myself. It's been hard to not buy these all up. I had one in my cart and headed to the checkout but stopped myself halfway there. I really can't be spending anymore money on LEGO right now. Need to reign in the ol' CC first... Quote

Jargo Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Woop! Just bought another Billy and robot. At this point I'm completely uninterested in the aliens and their vehicles. It's all about 'The Squad'. A while back I bought a load of pieces with the intention of building a zoopy spacecraft. Drew a load of sketches of different types of craftbut couldn't decide which direction to go. Now we know red means go and green means stop I'll be aiming for a craft that goes like Billy-o. I'm an inexperienced builder of spacecraft but I'll have a go over the christmas period. See what I can do. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Woop! Just bought another Billy and robot. At this point I'm completely uninterested in the aliens and their vehicles. It's all about 'The Squad'. I'm opposite. I don't know if it's just a desire to create an army of my Insectoid brethren or that I like the sets, but I plan on getting Space Swarmer * 2 Swarm Interceptor Star Slicer The Poly-Bags as needed That gives me 2 Buggoids, 1 Mosquitoid, and the red Buggoid. and the blue team times two (and another robot) and some other squaddies to fill in the space. Despite my strong desire build a fleet of Insectoids worthy of the Queen, I will not stoop to buying the Warp Stinger, which I still don't like. I;m sure the second wave'll have a good Insectoid ship for my army. The more I look at it, the more I really really want the Insectoid Ship in the biggest set. It really is beautiful. I wish the other ships looked like it. I don't know how I'll get it, but I know I have to somehow. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
DraikNova Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I'm more on the insectoid side. Although I do plan on making a Green Squad mega-vehicle. @Dannylonglegs, if you don't like the Warp Stinger, why don't you customise it? And anyways, it has some great parts for customizing your Insectoid fleet. Quote

I really want it for the pieces and figures and would love to try my hand at modding it (rather extensively), but I've decided that since I don't like the actual set that it's not worth 30 for a model I don't fancy. (that 30 could be going to LotR sets or the Monster Fighter's Castle or Jabba's Palace.) And I'm sure the last wave will have a set that I can't live without anyways, so it all works out. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

Laura Beinbrech Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I'd like to see a large queen set. I second this motion, shall we move to vote? Personally, I'm either going to just wait until the sets are available at the local Voldemart/Target or just buy them when I go down to the LEGO store... As much as I like them (particularly the Swarm interceptor... Loads of useful bits there), I don't feel like paying Toys R Us' loan shark prices for them.... Quote
