DraikNova Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 (edited) What I'm thinking of is some big, bad creature with at least eight legs, claws and a stinger, like an amalgamation of the scariest insects of the world. Edited December 16, 2012 by DraikNova Quote
Jargo Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 I'd vote for a Buggoid queen. Or at least some big bruiser maxifig Buggoids. Mean looking Buggoids with tough carapace and big sharp bitey mandibles. Quote
Shakar Posted December 16, 2012 Posted December 16, 2012 Hello everyone, does anybody own the Star Slicer? I've got a question. The large blades on the Mantis's arms- are they tr. neon green or tr. bright green? Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I'd like to see an actual Queen fig...... As would I, my dear fellow. I can see it being four armed with a new head mold (and maybe, in a smaller set, a reuse of that same head mold with a smaller two armed figure.) And I'd love a huge set for the Insectoids like the Arachnoid Base from the original Insectoids. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

The large blades on the Mantis's arms- are they tr. neon green or tr. bright green? According to the inventory in the instructions (cross-referenced with the customer service parts database) they're tr. bright green. But that probably matches the lime best anyway. Tr. Fluorescent Green in that material looks almost yellow. Edited December 17, 2012 by Aanchir Quote

TimH Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 I'd like to see a large queen set. Me too! Maybe a nice big mothership that can give Billy no mates and the rest of the Galaxy Squad members a run for there money. Quote
Jargo Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Ooh! For the bruiser type maxifig, about a rhino beetle-esque fella. Rhino beetle, Hercules beetle, Elephant beetle, Stag beetle - They all have nice fierce looks. Using the claw hands from either the POTC Davey Jones or Atlantis crab guard figs would be nice. The more sharp looking edges the better. claws and horns and mandibles and slime squirting vents. And maybe, do you remember the Garthim creatures from The Dark Crystal film? Those black beetle-like soldiers of the evil Skeksis. They had massive armoured bodies over a multitude of quite short scuttling insect legs. I wonder if there's a way to get that sort of look on a maxifig. different proportions and all that but scuttling legs would be a nice departure from the usual maxifig square legs. Quote
DraikNova Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 Also simply known as a scorpion Yeah, but add some wings and mantis-like blades, give it more of an upright posture, you get the picture. Quote

Endgame Posted December 17, 2012 Posted December 17, 2012 The more I look at it, the more I really really want the Insectoid Ship in the biggest set. It really is beautiful. it really does stink you like the secondary vehicle far more then the primary... in an $80 set. I really wish it was seperate and it's own $15 set or something. Quote

Echo Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 Picked up the Warp Stinger, Swarm Interceptor, and Bug Obliterator a couple of days ago at TRU for regular price. That's right, no TRU price jacking! Amazing! The Stinger is pretty uninspiring. It's well designed and so forth, but it's just not my taste. The Interceptor is quite good, although it could probably use a modification or two to make it better. And finally, the Obliterator is pretty interesting. I like the tank part by itself and the ship by itself, but combined, they look a bit odd. It took me a while to realize why, but I think it is because when they are combined, they look like they'd fly as well as a block of concrete. My solution to that is to think of the combined form as a heavy tank rather than a spacecraft. Overall, I like this theme well enough. The squad members are excellent figures and their vehicles are well designed despite the combination gimmick, but the aliens are dull. The figures are decent, but their vehicles look more like very odd giant animals than spacecraft, with the exception of the Space Swarmer, which is quite nice. Quote
Algernon Posted December 19, 2012 Posted December 19, 2012 I'm having flashbacks to the lamentations regarding AC Earth Defense HQ... I actually liked the HQ every bit as much as the "vic viper" fighter everybody fell in love with. I know I'm probably a minority, but still. Quote

I know I'm probably a minority, but still. Me too! I liked everything about that set except the small ADU prison pod wagon... Even the small Alien interceptor that came with it. Of course I had to go and modify the heck out of it, but still I liked the overall design of the set. Quote
Kliq Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 I actually liked the HQ every bit as much as the "vic viper" fighter everybody fell in love with. I know I'm probably a minority, but still. Huh!? I thought the overall consensus was that the Earth Defense HQ was one of the best 'Space' sets ever produced? At least certainly in the 21st century. With Galaxy Squad I can certainly see the disdain for 70705, but personally I like it. I just can't wait until after Christmas when I have the funds to create a large GS fleet. Quote

I really wish it was seperate and it's own $15 set or something. That would be amazing! I'd even get multiples of it if it were in a 20$ set! It's just such a gorgeous little thing. It is absolutely my favorite Insectoid ship from the series. Huh!? I thought the overall consensus was that the Earth Defense HQ was one of the best 'Space' sets ever produced? I just can't wait until after Christmas when I have the funds to create a large GS fleet. Well, It's not that I really don't like the main ship (as is the case with 70702), it's just that I really like the Insectoid's ship allot more. The main ship is alright, but certainly not worth the cost of the set. (and for once, the minifigures don't really appeal to me... Although, the female fig would be nice. The guy I can get from a poly-bag, the mosquito is common, and the robot in this one is my least favorite--like a Lego version of the transformer toys which I never fancied, so there's no incentive to get the set for the figs.) ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote
Kliq Posted December 20, 2012 Posted December 20, 2012 The guy I can get from a poly-bag What? The only two polybags I've seen come with either a Red or a Green trooper. Quote
Jargo Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 The polybag troopers look green and orange to me. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 What? The only two polybags I've seen come with either a Red or a Green trooper. Yeah, it's not Billy. He only appears in one set that I'm not getting. How sad. ~Insectoid Aristocrat Quote

I liked that set so much that i brought a second one. AC love!! I'm look forward to getting the Bug Obliterator in the near future Its a shame Billy wont be in one of the polybags, guess i'll be looking to pick him up on ebay. Poor Billy! Quote
Kliq Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 I did some digging and saw where the colors of the Polybags were discussed earlier and had a look at the instructions. Yep, you're right that is an orange figure. The bag picture made it look so red to me, and I didn't understand why there was all this talk about the red trooper being all by himself. Now I see. It also makes more sense. Since Red is all about speed, that little mech did not look that fast. Then again, it doesn't look like it has all that much firepower either, which is what Orange is known for. Quote
DraikNova Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Too bad I didn't see any Galaxy Squad when I went to my local Intertoys. Guess I'll have to wait until I go to Vienna. Quote
theultimatetoa001 Posted December 22, 2012 Posted December 22, 2012 I got the Vermin Vapourizer for Christmas, Can`t wait to open it and build it! Quote
