The pictures weren't terribly clear, so you're not missing much - the only thing they really confirm is that we're getting an abundance of ground vehicles. I think Galaxy Squad might actually have the most ground vehicles of any Space theme... but don't quote me on that.

It's disappointing that we're not getting any huge starships (my one true love) but I'm personally looking forward to the day I get to splurge at the LEGO store and pick up the Galactic Titan and Hive Crawler and pit the two behemoths against each other.

I think M-Tron has the most ground vehicles. One of the old space themes, anyway. Or perhaps Alien Conquest.

But I think the spaceship part of the Galactic Titan is probably the closest thing to a big spaceship we´re going to get in a while. Oh, how I want a 150 euro Green Squad megaship.

Or even better, a multi-squad spaceship, with a green squad weapons section, a blue squad control deck, an orange squad...I don´t know, perhaps propulsion and lots of red squad fighters which can deattach from the main ship.

If this is like Ice Planet 2.0 I will explode with excitement.

I would like to add some speculation wood to the rumour fire....

"LEGO Galaxy" - could this be the first of an overarching space theme? Like LEGO City, encompasses mining, police, fire etc....this could be LEGO Galaxy, encompassing Blacktron II, Ice Planet, Alien Conquest - perhaps each year/wave focusing on one theme (Ice Planet) with some smaller sets dedicated to the other space factions (Like 4 x Ice Planet, 1 x Blacktron II, 1x Alien Conquest) etc.

Supporting evidence - LEGO's somewhat "revival" or continuation of older space themes in the Minifigures.

I would LOVE that!

Maybe they should have a giant robotic lion in each colour driven by one of each, that combine to form Voltron...

Now THAT would be awesome! I loved Voltron as a kid, I could see each lion being a set and combining.

The 'squad' colors are right, too, for the pilots! Orange, blue, green, red... just need 'Pink Squad' (Galaxy Girl could take that, tho she'd need proper pink arms as well as a GS torso/legs)

I present to you Billy's Galaxy RAIDr. Apologies if the photography is ropey, My set up is rubbish. I'm currently trying to set up a Flickr account and get some better shots including undercarriage and cockpit interior. Just thought I'd drop this in here as all I seem to do is talk and it's about time I showed something. Hope you like. It's my first space build since I was a child back in the 1970's. :alien:

That is fantastic for your first build since the 70's. It reminds me of an A-wing fighter, with a touch of classic Space sprinkled on top. I'm especially loving how smooth and the contours of the ship are. Great job.

Thanks guys. I basically gathered together all my white parts and fitted stuff together until i had something that looked ok, then fiddled a bit more and finally threw in the red. The landing gear and engine connections aren't the strongest but it's a balanced ship and rests on just two 'legs'. Just visible in the rear of the cockpit there is a set of classic space red airtanks. A wee tribute. The cockpit bubble doesn't open as it is, you have to take off the cheese slope but I wanted a SNOT finish so it's a small task to take off the piece to get Billy into his seat.

As well as the main thruster at the rear and the two directional thrusters on the nose there are two thrusters on the belly for lift or even more directional thrust.

The round tile on the nose is where the red team logo would go while the GS logo would go on the wings. That would be the icing on the cake. The rest of the stickers are leftovers from old sets but I kept them to a minimum and mostly warning chevrons by thrusters and weapons.

The main thing was to give billy a ship he could be proud of that looked like it could do the business. And wipe the floor with Solomon Blaze's pathetic vehicle.

Awesome work! I really like the over all smoothness of the design.

That's pretty much how every MOC of mine is made .

Joined the group though for some reason it won't let me add pics. I'm sure people will find them though by clicking on links and stuff.

You seem to have some SafeSearch filters turned on. I can only see the pic you embedded earlier in this topic when I view your photostream (I think because you tagged me in it), and the 'Share' button is grayed out (disabled). The rest are hidden behind this page:

EDIT: Did some digging and it looks like, since your account is relatively new, it's under 'Moderate' filter restrictions, and needs to be reviewed by Flickr staff to set it to 'Safe'. There's a link on this page that can help you request a review.

Does it split into multiple modules like most of the Galaxy Squad vehicles? I'd hope that it would.

Posted

Currently, no. To be honest I'm only working with half my bricks as the other half is inaccessible and includes all my technic bricks. That said, I'm not sure every vehicle should split. Though a version of the RAIDr with pop out cockpit module would be cool. I'll probably keep working on the RAIDr and improve the build so it's more stable. Better landing gear, canopy with more all round visibilty. I expect a fair bit of evolution. Let's call this MK1.

Vyn, 'tis my fault, I'd set my Flickr to moderate but hopefully it's reset to safe and everything is visible now. Flickr had already given me a safe rating. Technology, I'm not a natural

True. I still want to build a bigger vehicle with split off fighter pods. A sort of dropship/carrier. I can see it in my head but I'm not sure I have all the parts I'd need or exactly how to make the mechanism work for launching the pods. Something to worry at in these dark months though. Winter is always the best time to create I think.

Ah... Well, the individual pics are still set as 'moderate'. Just changing the general setting does not generate a batch process on the photos therein. Now you have to go in to 'You' -> 'Organize' and drag all your pics into the 'main' panel in Organizr. Once they're all in there, click 'Permissions' and select 'Set Safety Filter'. Set it to 'Safe' and click 'Change Safety Filters'. Then you should be good to go.
