vynsane Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 HA! Yeah, I was able to invite them to the group now. Coolness! Quote
Jargo Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 The whole gallery is viewable so you can check out the undercarriage etc. Also just ordered some dome cockpit bubbles so I should have something new soon. And somewhere on this planet is a package containing a Billy S and robot that is repeatedly not arriving at it's destination. The postal service is getting in the way of my army building. However, my partner has just wiped the images drive on our server in a freak OS update installation accident and 16 years of images have vanished into a black hole. So Obviously I'm laying on the guilt trip quite heavily and I'm sure I can wangle an 'I'm very sorry' gift of a few Billies out of this. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) I really hope that, in the UK, our wait for these isn't until the summer, though this is seeming all the more likely now, as the Argos catalogue mentioned many of the themes being released in the UK up to and including May. Not this one though. I pray that this doesn't mean much and we get these by February or March. Edited January 19, 2013 by Star Wars NutJob 69 Quote
DraikNova Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 I´m going to have to wait for these too probably. Oh well, that just means I´ll be done shopping for Ninjago by the time my wallet gets assaulted again. Quote
pup Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Jargo -- great pics! That's an outstanding spacedock you've got going -- I love all the little details. I'm rooting for Billy, too. The GS set I picked up was the one with the Interceptor. One of the best sets I've gotten in a long time -- definitely hit all the marks for a genuine space set. It's absolutely swooshable, and immediately got commandeered by my Futurons. Quote
gunm Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I just ordered Bug Obliterator--I like these sets, although my favorite parts are definitely the Galaxy Squad and not so much the aliens. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 Very nice red squad base Jargo. Ugh, the GS sets are still not out here. Quote
The_Creator Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 The pictures weren't terribly clear, so you're not missing much - the only thing they really confirm is that we're getting an abundance of ground vehicles. I think Galaxy Squad might actually have the most ground vehicles of any Space theme... but don't quote me on that. Ok! This theme is really shaping up to be great. Quote
The_Creator Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 May I dare suggest this... Do you think it's possible TLG is rebooting space? -(First space theme)Classic Space = Galaxy Squad /(Last or the originals(70s-90s))Insectroids=Galaxy Squad --Suggested timeline-- -TLG changes GS slightly thus equaling Futuron. -Backtron is reintroduced along with SP IIII. -M:Tron II is introduced with a second or third wave of SP IIII and Blacktron III. -A small third wave of SP IIII and Backtron II along with a second M:Tron wave are introduced. -Ice Planet(Think up some good sounding new name ) is reintroduced. A squad of GS blue team crash lands on a frozen snowy planet and founds a colony. -A new Spyrious and Unitron replace SP IIII and Blacktron III. -Explorians II replaces M:Tron II. -Robo force is introduced to help the Unitron(Subsidiary of the Space Police) battle Spyrious and protect the Explorians. Plausible right? I mean UFO was rebooted in a way in AC, Life on Mars was rebooted to Mars Mission, and Space Police was rebooted to SP III. Why not start over from the beginning and rehash all the originals? Just a thought, hope this doesn't come across as Spam. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I highly doubt they'd actually reboot the entire classic space range. I would love it if they rebooted Rock Raiders as a more sci-fy than they did with Power Miners though. Quote
-zenn Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I'm not really impressed with these new sets; more like 'meh'. Didn't like the insectoids range either when I was a kid btw. Though I'll probably pick me up some of the Galaxy Squad figs. Quote
The_Creator Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 I highly doubt they'd actually reboot the entire classic space range. As do I, but they could, or at least some of it, over the course of 10 or so years... Quote
DraikNova Posted January 22, 2013 Posted January 22, 2013 (edited) I wish they'd make a revival of Futuron. Or perhaps a Rock Raiders revival with a more sci-fi-ish tone than Power Miners. EDIT: Just noticed. At first I thought some of the strange trans pieces in the summer sets were the old comet part from old space sets, before I thought, nah, that part´s been out of production for over a decade. Then I saw that a summer Chima set (the Lion CHI Temple) uses it. So I guessing that´s what at least some of the strange unidentified trans parts were on those prelim pictures. Jargo Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) From Brickset: 70706 Crater Creeper, £18: Large 6-legged bug, with beetle like pincers, small craft with green spaceman 70707 CLS-89 Eradicator Mech, £35:Two legged mecha, orange and white, two different four-legged bugs, 70708 Hive Crawler, £50: even larger 6 legged bug whose legs move as it's rolled across the floor. Features an egg-flinging mechanism at the back that contain small Alien-like face-huggers. It looked fantastic, and is very clever. Also comes with dark red spceman in small white/dark red craft. The best of the bunch. 70709 Galactic Titan, £80: Blue/white large tracked vehicle with detachable spaceship, long-thin millipede-like bug with a 'bug-fig' on its back. Dark red-? Edited January 23, 2013 by Jargo Quote
Algernon Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 The Hive Crawler must look better in person - from what I saw it looked like a missmash of green. I'm excited to see better pictures of these. Quote
gunm Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hive Crawler sounds cool. I guess Winter is Orange team and Summer is the Red Team. Quote
Apollo Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Hive Crawler sounds cool. I guess Winter is Orange team and Summer is the Red Team. I probably shouldn't say this, but Red Squad is getting the shaft this summer as far as a vehicle goes. Blue Team is getting their flagship set however; I cannot wait until we can look into details. Quote
Vindicare Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 From Brickset: Dark red-? I was curious about the color change too. It still sounds like Red is getting a small vehicle, though. But, if Billy is getting fired already...that's going to drive me overcthe edge! Quote
krystalKING Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 whats even more exciting is the fact that I was correct. the article in question mentions alien facehuggers. alien larva anyone? by the way, I hate tablets Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) Unfortunately, the latest part of Brickset's London Toy Fair report states that, in the UK at least, we have to wait until the Summer to get the entire theme , yet other countries have already had the Winter wave in their stores for a while. to LEGO on this absurd decision. Agreed. A few months I can accept, but a full 6 months (at least) is utterly ridiculous. Quote
DraikNova Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 Yeah, I checked. The dutch catalog doesn't even mention the Galaxy Squad sets as a preview. I'm guessing this might be a side-effect of Chima. Oh well, just means I've got an excuse to go crazy and spend all of my money in one go. The facehuggers have me wondering too. And I feel so stupid for not guessing that was a millipede. If this becomes a two-year theme, I could imagine the 2014 winter wave featuring a Red Squad flagship and the 2014 summer wave featuring a green squad flagship. Quote
Jargo Posted January 23, 2013 Posted January 23, 2013 (edited) can't say much, spilled a drink on my laptop and the keyboard is dead, using a usb one but my lappy is playing up. anyhoo, Supposing GS gets a third wave in the winter of 2013/2014 I guess that would be the place to give the red team a large vehicle. I'd like to hear from Lego how long this theme will live for. We know Chima is a three year theme but is GS 2013 only? Could an ambassador chime in with some helpful info here please? Also if the red team is shifting to dark red are the other teams also getting different shades of uniform colour or is the report of dark red wrong? in other news, pup and DraikNova, thanks for the comments, the base is no more. It was just for photos. I don't have anywhere to keep something that big on show. I've used a lot of the parts to expand the base mess hall I built fot the FAPC entry. and I'll be taking apart the RAIDr ship so I can build a bigger ship that has split apart features. Using build techniques from the other GS vehicles so it's more in keeping with the theme. Which is very optimistic of me as I'm really rusty regarding building stuff. Just waiting on a Bricklink order to arrive before I get started. Edited January 28, 2013 by Jargo Quote
Devorath Posted January 24, 2013 Posted January 24, 2013 NZ is getting them with the Aussies, not in March. Darn. Quote
