I read the upcoming crawler contest and decided to post about my newest crawler I built recently. If it will be in contest rules then no copyingdefault_laugh_new.gif although there was inspiration for axles and such. Changes made: redesigned/reinforced servo mounts/axle itself; change of placement for XL motor; different battery placement thanks to previous note; and a rockin' body thats strong and looks great. Here's pics: dscn0579.jpg

stronger mounts^

^These parts between xl and servo keep axle from over extending, thus making u-joints pop out.(over extending=going uphill and torque pulls axle slightly forward and down)

I love the steering system, like in land rovers  , is it strong?.

yes, but sometimes if you steer against an obstacle for a while the light bley part pops out, but easy 2 seconds to put backdefault_classic.gif

I tried the same steering setup on one of my trucks, but it did not do too well. I was using the PP tires and the increased forces caused either the pitman arm or link to fail. It worked much better with the LPE front geometry, but I could not get that axle to stay together under load. The CV joints failed no matter how I reinforced the connection. I am planning on taking another stab at it later.
