TheLegoDr Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Hopefully they will be released sooner than later then. Although, it does seem silly to spend that much money on two figures that will be readily available soon enough, and in cheaper sets no less. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Although, it does seem silly to spend that much money on two figures that will be readily available soon enough, and in cheaper sets no less. True. But, as we know, some people on YouTube (the Brickshow for example) will pay the high prices simply so that they can be the first to review them. As for me, I can wait for the release of the theme when those two minifigures will become available. Also, I'm not sure why people would want the Tonto from that eBay lot; it doesn't come with his raven/crow piece. Quote
refriedbeans Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 The Brickshow WILL still buy them because they are quite idiotic in the way they purchase things... Quote
Lance Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) The Brickshow WILL still buy them because they are quite idiotic in the way they purchase things... Not really. Brickshow don't go purchasing things impulsively (as far as I know ). If they did buy them, however, it would probably be for a better look at the figures. Edited February 17, 2013 by Lance Quote
refriedbeans Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I went to Toys R Us today to see if the had any PoP Battle of Alamut sets (still need it to complete my collection) and I saw that picture of Tonto with the Lone Ranger in the background! So maybe they are coming soon! And unfortunately I only saw Quest Against Time (which I do want to buy again). Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 The Brickshow WILL still buy them because they are quite idiotic in the way they purchase things... Let's not call anyone names. You can still play nice on the internet. I suppose those that buy the factory-leaked minifigs have their reasons. And the money to do so, apparently. I'll wait to start collecting my multiple Lone Rangers and Tontos until the sets are released, myself. Quote
Ceroknight Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Looking at the toyfair pictures FBTB has, these sets look brilliant, I especially love the coach as everyone else seem to.. It's nice that the female minifigure can take her hat off, while keeping her hair, hopefully more minifigures will have that in the future! Quote
CorneliusMurdock Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 I'm sorry, they just bother me. Well, this isn't the place to air those grievances. Moving on... I have to say again that I wasn't thrilled about this theme in the slightest when I heard about it but it looks like all be getting a fair number of the sets due to the great design and value. You can really tell the designers had fun making these. Quote
Str0ngbad Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 ! White horses! I'm going to have to get a couple of those for Gandalf and Theoden. You guys with your wonderful little battle pack are killing me. I love the upcoming LOTR stuff but I'm still quite jealous. Quote
LibraryBoy Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) I sometimes find the movie specific sets lacking, but there are some really nice-looking builds here, particularly the bank and the stagecoach (as others have said). Don't know that I'll be picking up more than the Cavalry and and maybe Commanche Camp sets just so I can get Lone Ranger, Tonto, and Silver, (though the $30 price point for the stagecoach makes it a real consideration) but still, these are nice. Hoschiebaer Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) i really like, that the hat of the female mf in the stagecoach is removable (i guess its the same as with the friends mf-hairpieces, that got a tiny hole in them to put a ribbon e.g. in) its kinda odd that tonto is included in every set but the cavelry and lone ranger is included in all sets - which makes me wonna get only 1 or 2 of the series. the stagecoach really looks great and the train aswell! (might be getting the stagecoach and the mine or the city showdown though) edit: one question on the side... does anyone used the friends mf-hairpieces on normal minfigures? are they fittig in length? (i guess the friends mf are a tad higher than normal mfs) Edited February 23, 2013 by Hoschiebaer Quote

(i guess the friends mf are a tad higher than normal mfs) Yes, the Friends hairpieces are compatible with regular minifigs and vice versa. I'm glad they're implementing this feature with the normal minifigs instead of being a Friends exclusive feature, if Tonto and Red are any indication. But I guess the reason why they put Ranger and Tonto in almost every set is because, well, let's say you're a kid and you can't get every set, but you at least want to get the good guys, so even in the second cheapest set you can get the heroes. Plus there are some variants on printing (Like the dirty Ranger in the Silver Mines set), but a situation more fitting to AFOLs would be stocking up on the hats/guns/hairpieces and heads (I think someone here said that Tonto's head would make for a great black metal minifig face). Klaus-Dieter Posted February 23, 2013 Author Posted February 23, 2013 (edited) Thank you very much for the information, the links and the pictures! Since this theme does - apart from the train and the stagecoach which I don't like, too - not offer anything new in comparison to the Western theme from 1996/1997 and is even a licensed theme (unfitting fleesh colors and more expensive), I'm not interested in any of these sets and will pass them. Let's hope that TLG will release some own Western sets in some years and not only some based on a (bad) license! Klaus-Dieter Edited February 23, 2013 by Klaus-Dieter Quote
TheLegoDr Posted February 23, 2013 Posted February 23, 2013 Harsh words. For every one that hates this license, there are plenty that love it. I'm actually most excited for this theme this summer and I'm more of a Middle Earth man myself. This will probably be one of the few movies I see in theaters this year too. So to each their own. That's the beauty of opinions. But I think these sets look great and I've grown quite accustomed to licensed skin tone actually. But I loved the original western theme when I was a kid. When I first heard of this theme, I dug out all of those figures and put them together. I like the CMF additions too. Quote

You can really tell the designers had fun making these. I also couldn't care less about the movie but these sets will be turned into some lovely Red Dead Redemption and Good, Bad, Ugly MOCs. Still, I wish the movie is doing well, some day we might get a follow-up taking place in Mexico and some Lego sets with it... Now that would be fantabolous! Quote
MatiPasio Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 It looks nice. I'm glad that there is a train, because Lego team stopped for a while to do the new trains. Cavalry Builder set looks very nice. I will buy it :) Quote
Graysmith Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 Does anyone know if these sets will be released anywhere in Europe in April? So far I've only heard April for U.S./Canada, May for Germany and through whispers as late as June here in Sweden.. Definitely don't want to wait as long as June to get some of these, but importing from the U.S. is a no-no for me. Quote

Wardancer Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 The new silver asian hat attached at the front of the train will make a good shield. Quote
Rijkvv Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 @Klaus-Dieter: I partly agree with you. I don't like this theme either, mostly because the Cuusoo project had to be sacrificed for this (the same with Pirates when the POTC sets were released). There might be some interesting parts though. If I remember correct the text on the tiles and bricks in the Toy Story train set were printed. The cancellation of the Cuusoo project makes me want to collect the classic Western sets once more. I prefer spending the extra bucks to some more rare well-designed sets than to this. Quote

Let's hope that TLG will release some own Western sets in some years and not only some based on a (bad) license! Klaus-Dieter The licensed sets are a two way street for we fans. Yeah we grumble about them, and how they cut into our beloved classic themes. But the licenses, when tied to a corresponding movie release, often provide such a huge revenue boost over the regular comparable theme, that we get a ton of great new parts. Just look at some of the little things in the LR sets. New pistols. New bird. A new design that allows hats and hairpieces to be combined. Plus some amazing minifig prints. Quote
Lord Rahl of Clannad Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 (edited) A new design that allows hats and hairpieces to be combined. In my opinion, something like this is long overdue. I'm glad that LEGO have finally done it after all these years of either hair or hat (sometimes both, but very rarely and only very recently (starting in the POTC sets)) on a minifigure's head. Navy Trooper Fenson Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 A new design that allows hats and hairpieces to be combined. Uuuh... no, they didn´t. The hats and hairdos are all glued together, even though the hair molds are all recolored versions of existing molds. Quote
Kai NRG Posted February 26, 2013 Posted February 26, 2013 Uuuh... no, they didn´t. Faefrost is likely referring to the fact that Red Harrington's little hat comes off (in a similar way to the friends stuff). Quote
