TheBrickDaddy Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 TheBrickDaddy - that's odd since the Mine is the one set I didn't pick up. It didn't look that good on the outside, and you only get 2 new figures (the rest are dirty versions of figures). As far as parts pack, I would agree. It probably does have some great pieces in it, but at the same time I don't want to spend $70 for those pieces. As much as I want the other Native and the skull, I don't want to spend $70 on them. But I'm glad you like it so much. Maybe if I ever see it on a good sale, I may pick it up. It's true it might not catch the eye from the angle on the box, but seeing it in a review or in person is a different story. And of the five minifigs, one is only available in one other set (the largest), and the other four are exclusive. What you may see as a dirty version of another figure, I see as a refreshing deviation from the norm- this is the only set where the Lone Ranger and Tonto aren't the same as they are in every other set. And I don't see how it's a bad price- it has one of the best piece/price ratios in the line. To each is own, but trust me, even if you don't want it as a display piece, it's got the most play functions I've ever seen for a set this size. I spent more time trying to crush Butch with that boulder than I'd like to admit Silver mine will be the sleeper ! I see I've won someone over Quote
Brickus Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I remember seeing an CG image of all the sets together in a display form, with the track running around the Mine, Colby City, Stagecoach, and on the outside, the Comanche Camp. Does anyone know where that is? Thanks. Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 That was the teaser of the sets, I believe. Don't know where that can be found, though. Quote
Fives Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 (edited) I just picked up the Stagecoach. It's a pretty nice set, and the Tonto and Red Minifigs are really beautiful. My favourite part about this entire theme is the removable crow from Tonto's hair. Ravens from Game of Thrones! Edited May 27, 2013 by Fives Quote
DebkoX Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Whilst the movie looks great and these sets are unique I can't justity the amazon prices so I may have to sit this one out and await sales 'cos these sets are brilliant. The price is not. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted May 28, 2013 Posted May 28, 2013 Has anybody actually found the Tonto's Campfire set in a Toys R Us store yet? I've been checking lately, but keep coming up empty handed. Quote

MatiPasio Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 I've got the Colby City Showdown. Really nice one! Quote
Hey Joe Posted June 1, 2013 Posted June 1, 2013 The Lone Ranger has arrived in China for what it's worth. I was surprised to see the sets at the store the other day, usually it takes longer to get them here. Normally sets are 2X US prices here but the stagecoach is a hair less than $100, more than 3X (excluding US sales taxes)! All of the sets look nice IMO although I would have preferred a non-licensed western theme. If I see the sets on sale in the US I'll get them. Joe Quote
GRogall Posted June 4, 2013 Posted June 4, 2013 (edited) Here is a nice HR poster from the Lone Ranger movie for you to download Warning poster is 3000+.pxl Enjoy! Edited June 4, 2013 by GRogall Quote
Churchill Posted June 6, 2013 Posted June 6, 2013 I found the Tonto polybag in a TRU outside of Pittsburgh today. Quote
Mutant Orc Posted June 14, 2013 Posted June 14, 2013 How am I meant to find the money for all these new sets!?? i can barely afford the Tower of Orthanc let alone all the rest of the sets this year!! Quote

Phantomscream Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 Hello everyone! Long time lurker, thought it was about time I joined the site. I've been looking for any signs of the Lone Ranger release in the UK, finally heard from the Lego store (Harlequin) that the official release date for the UK Lone Ranger release is the 14th July! Still quite a while to go, but it's something. Personal favourites from the wave are definitely the Silvermine and Stagecoach! Quote
Cammo Posted June 23, 2013 Posted June 23, 2013 (edited) Welcome Phantomscream Aren't the sets already available at several online shops? This wave (although being tied to a movie) is really tempting to get indeed. Saw them all build in a nice little diorama in the LEGO store. Even my dad wanted to buy the train & coach but we eventually didn't because Amazon uses cheaper prices. I will get them when they drop in price. Edited June 23, 2013 by Cammo Quote
Faefrost Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 So what happens if the movie that the Lego licensed theme is based on does poorly at the box office? How much of an impact on Lego sales does that tend to have? I'm not saying that LR is a bad movie, but it's numbers are not all that great. Will this be another PoP? (Which could work out for us AFOLs since these are all fantastic sets that may be available at discount) I'm hoping I'm just being pessimistic. I would love to see more of this wonderfully detailed Western Theme. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I think that is a tough call. On the one hand, if the movie does poorly and not a lot of people see it, they may not want the sets similar to PoP. However, with this being a new Western theme, I think it might hold its own even if the movie does flop. Westerns aren't as popular as they once were, but it does bring some fresh prints and ideas to the western world of LEGO which has been sorely lacking for many years. And since I already have all of the sets, I wouldn't need them on discount... Quote
Another Brick In The Wall Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 It's pretty clear that Disney want this to be a franchise (Depp, Hammer rumored to have signed a multi-film deal). I think we'll get a sequel even if doesn't make as much as the first PotC film. I agree that all the sets are marvellous. I'm sure it will sell more than PoP and given the popularity of Western Modular Town on Cuusoo, it convinces TLG to reintroduce an unlicensed Western theme. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 (edited) I heard an extremely negative review on the radio yesterday, but I hope that isn't the general opinion. I have yet to see it, but I think the Constitution being the focal point is a little cheesy and stupid, but then again, so were the original LR series. Edited July 4, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 I heard an extremely negative review on the radio yesterday, but I hope that isn't the general opinion. I think it's a bad sign that I have yet to hear or read a good review on the movie I'm sure it will make money still. I'm sure there are people (like me) that really just can't believe the movie can be that bad and will still go pay the money to see it in theaters. Quote
Cammo Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 Well I noticed that the reviews from newspapers/magazines/famous youtube channels/websites are pretty negative towards the movie but looking at the reviews from the 'normal' film fan it seems alright. And the bad points of the critics are always the same. Tonto isn't played by an authentic Native American, too long (which is a stupid reason), too many storylines that don't seem to come together, bland humour and action. But I actually think I'm going to enjoy the movie and I will definitely buy the coach & train no matter what I think of the film after watching it. The sets are great even if they are part of licensed theme. The reviews of PotC 2 & 3 were also negative and I still enjoyed those two movies. Too bad that critics influence a lot of people's opinions. I still believe in The Lone Ranger Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 4, 2013 Posted July 4, 2013 That reminds me of Cars 2, where the critics hated it, but general audiences liked it. Quote
