There is already one in Special LEGO Themes. I just wanted to take the worry out of The Lone Ranger theme that it might kill off Western for a while.

To keep this on topic, I really appreciate the Calvary Builder set. It fits my desire for historical minifig and could be half of a Civil War MOC or the cannon can be added to the Series 10 Revolutionary Soldier for a Revolutionary War scene. I wish this theme the best but if I see any good deals on clearance... I will pounce on them.

The Calvary Builder is very nice for building up a Civil War Union Army and the olders ones from the last LEGO Western theme were around $4 to $5 on eBay. Now we can get 3 soldiers and an awesome Lone Ranger minifigure for $12.99. I wish there was a fort like Fort Legoredo in this theme. The new LEGO Movie might re-release that set which would be sweet.

Clearance has begun. The local Target has marked down all but the stagecoach Lone Ranger sets. I would have got the Colby City Showndown for $35 but the Dark Knight Rises set was also marked down to that amount.

EDIT: $27.98 for the Dark Knight Rises set. The Lone Ranger teepee was down to $13.98 as well. I fetched the receipt after my obvious error on the Batman set.

A little off topic, but Colby City was originally $50 while TDKR set was $40. Colby is a better deal. :poke:

Anywho, that was quick! I think this one might be at your store only, though. I would love to pick up the two bigger sets half off to complete my collection.

If these really start hitting clearance on a widespread basis already, I suspect that most of these will end up in TJ Maxx, Big Lots, Tuesday Morning, etc. for the holidays. Most of these probably haven't even made it out of the warehouses yet.

Any Western fans should pick these up whether they are at clearance prices or not. Colby City is not only a great set, it's also a great parts pack. Likewise the Stagecoach is great and includes three of the new horses for the price. The Cavalry set is the ultimate army builder, I'm up to 3 already and hope to pick up two more tomorrow at the LEGO Club meeting (both my kids are going). I haven't picked up the train yet, but it's the set I'm most looking forward to. All around this is a great bunch of sets and has inspired me to start building Western MOCs (working on a fort now since I found a bunch of 1x4 log bricks on PaB).

I picked up the colby city showdown the other day, the build is fun, the figures are great and the set its self is fantastic and it was well worth £39.99 Id highly recommend it to anyone and I look really forward to watching the film. :classic:

When will they update the 96 - 97 western sets, i'm almost tempted to get these sets... :sceptic:

They are very very good Western sets, above and beyond the fact that they are licensed. The Silver Mine is an absolute classic play set, just for the shear volume of fun stuff going on.

I think the color palette is another aspect that makes them so tight. The licensed sets seem to always have superior color schemes to the Lego sets from similar eras, ie Pirate vs PoTC, LoTR vs Castle

The designer for the train set, Marco Bessa, also the new Ewok Village- he seems quite talented. I have seen some folks complaining about the scale of the stage coach, but I think that particular set is also just beautiful especially when you see how it moves. I wish TLG would do designer videos for some of the Lone Ranger sets, but I think they know this thing is over soon...

I very much like this series! In fact it is Western rerelease. And what figures remarkable in sets! It is possible to make many new heroes of them!

Here some examples of use of figures from sets of this series:

- robbers

- new sheriff and simple cowboy

- Indians

Just got back from the movie...

Uh... where's the stagecoach?

It may have been cut somewhere along the line. Lego starts their set development early on based on preliminaries, and this movie was ripe with cost over runs. It was probably planned in an earlier script. This movie did borrow a lot of the back story from the 1981 "Legend of the Lone Ranger" movie, and that would have fit in with it.

I believe that the 1981 movie was the first time the Ranger was identified as John Reid, the city lawyer brother of the murdered Ranger Dan Reid. The entire story arc of the law and government non gunslinging younger brother going home to Texas and his tough man older brother comes straight from the older (horrible) movie. In that movie we first meet the adult John Reid on his journey home on the stage coach instead of the train.

In the background at the 1920s museum place. But, indeed, wasn't a prominent part of the story.

Dang I was going to say that! I was quite disappointed as it looked prominent in the story from the box art.

Got the train and coach coming tomorrow or Monday. Can't wait to build it and as I thought, I enjoyed the movie despite the bad reviews.

Just started building these sets and was pleasantly surprised by how well thought out they seem, not a bad little line, would be nice not to get the Lone Ranger or Tonto in almost every set though.

The jail was all over the beginning- its been a while for me now, I don't remember the bank. I think the theory about the movie changing after lego started design is probably accurate.

Its not kid friendly but I would love to see that brothel rendered. It was just weird and had great details. I am working on a western town and wish I had all of those great props.

Sadly unlike other similar lines like PotC, there really aren't a lot of other named, recognizable characters that aren't the Ranger and Tonto. There are a few vaguely interchangeable thug types (including the one thug in a dress that they always include in these Bruckheimer Disney actioners but that we somehow never get a minifig of. (I want a Pintel and Ragheti pair of minifigs damint!).

The bank appeared right at the begining of Tonto's story. When it opens he and the LR are robbing the Bank. As the movie progresses we learn that the evil railroad guy had hid the dynamite in somplace "safe" in other words the Bank Vault. LR and Tonto rob the bank to get the explosives, which is what they then use to take down the bridge.

I don't blame you if you missed it. That whole sequence is very confusing and not very well put together.
