Faefrost Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 I jut saw the movie, and it was awesome. But I realized that none of the bandits look like their LEGO versions, which I find quite strange. They did a decent enough job with the main named characters. The LR, Tonto, Butch Cavendish, Red, The LR's brother etc. but those were all characters that were probably developed early and well mapped out for look and costuming. The other Bandits were probably mostly dressed via a "this looks best on this dude" approach by the wardrobe department shortly before filming, with little actual planning, character development or preliminary work. Cammo Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 (edited) Man, I just ordered the sets last week (already built them and display them with the rest. The sets are fantastic btw.) But now on the same website, Amazon.de, they are reducting them even more: Train chase: 100 EUR --> I paid 85 EUR --> now 68 EUR Colby: 60 EUR --> 45 EUR --> now 37.5 EUR Coach: 50 EUR --> 38 EUR --> now 34.31 EUR Silvermine: 80 EUR --> 60 EUR --> now 54.30 EUR http://www.amazon.de/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_1?__mk_de_DE=%C3%85M%C3%85Z%C3%95%C3%91&url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=lego+lone+ranger&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Alego+lone+ranger Good news for those who were planning to buy them though. LegoDad Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 With all the sales these sets seem to be having already, it may be safe to say this line won't be around long. Quote
Faefrost Posted August 2, 2013 Posted August 2, 2013 With all the sales these sets seem to be having already, it may be safe to say this line won't be around long. And yet weirdly, the line may not in any way have been a failure with Lego? This is one of those strange things that is hard to gauge from our vantage point. Yeah! They may seem to be going to sale prices very fast. But licensed products with a movie tie in tend to do such an order of magnitude better total sales in a short timeframe than a comparable non licensed series, that a fast surge of sales may equate a bigger win, even if they do have a lot of discounted leftovers. This is sort of the conundrum that the Pirates theme faces with PotC. Quote
refriedbeans Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 My Walmarts and Targets haven't received any Lone Ranger sets yet... Quote

This is sort of the conundrum that the Pirates theme faces with PotC. Oh, don't get me wrong, they seem to be selling very well around me. You can hardly find the Cavalry sets. I have seen Comanche Camp and Colby City 30% off, but that was only in one Target, none of the others had any sales going for LR. I have heard about many Target clearance sales including LR, though. Just seems odd since they've only been out a little while. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted August 3, 2013 Posted August 3, 2013 All great sets though. I picked them up well before I saw the movie because I was excited for western sets again. So movie success doesn't always contribute to life success. Quote

Captain Settle Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 Nice looking figures, especially the natives. Quote
refriedbeans Posted August 4, 2013 Posted August 4, 2013 I went to my Target yesterday and they had them phew! Quote
Tariq j Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Hi, sorry if this has been answered before but in the silver mine shootout set there's a blackbird piece, I may have missed it out but where is it meant to go? Quote
PsyKater Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Nice looking figures, especially the natives. I just realized that they look really similar to AC III natives. Quote
just2good Posted August 8, 2013 Posted August 8, 2013 Well, this was on eBay- the Americas version of the Lone Ranger Pump Car set. I've been looking for this one here in the states, this is in Arizona. Wonder which store they found it at. Probably not Toys"R"Us, but maybe Target or Five Below. Quote

Tariq j Posted August 9, 2013 Posted August 9, 2013 On Tonto's head? As in every other set Sorry about that, I really don't know how I missed it! Quote
Phantomscream Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 (edited) I saw the film yesterday and absolutely loved it. While it's definitely not a masterpiece, the movie was extremely fun and I got a kick out of it, don't understand all the hate towards it. Now I need to buy the Silvermine set after which I'm done with this awesome theme. Edited August 10, 2013 by Phantomscream Quote
RunSub Posted August 10, 2013 Posted August 10, 2013 I've not seen the film, but the design & look of this theme looks awesome to me. I've already got the Stage Coach, Colby City & the Train with the silver mine on the wanted list. I don't collect themes as I'm rather into Technic but these sets look so nice and work even without the Lone Ranger tie in, that bar the Avengers' Quinjet #6869 they are my only minifig sets (Maybe the in the back of my head I'll also only seeing 6 sets hurting my wallet instead of the hundreds that SW produces!) I not sure how successful a theme it's going to be for Lego, Liverpool had removed their display since last week & replaced with with Galaxy Squad. Lone Ranger (& Turtles) are now a small vertically section (on opposite sides of the shop) right near the main window, which strangely feels hidden as it's not in a natural line from the front door, but a tight 90deg+ turn. Maybe we'll get a few more western set with the Lego Movie Here in the UK they are giving them away in the papers tomorrow, If i see any i will be trying to get some to sell here on EB. Brickset front page says it's next Saturday the 17th for the pump cart.. I can't wait to grab a couple. Quote

These were given out at the LEGO Club Meeting in July. I was hoping for the Cavalry Builder set since we already have more than enough 'Lone' Rangers. If I had known someone would pay $20 for it, I'd have put it on eBay too. Too late, the kids opened theirs and we have two more rangers roaming our western town. Quote
phanstasm Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 For anyone that has Tonto: is any part of the pin thick enough so that a minifigure could hold the crow? It's tough to tell from the Bricklink image. Thanks in advance. Quote
8BrickMario Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 No, it's a pin that fits into the holes like in Friends hair. Quote
phanstasm Posted August 17, 2013 Posted August 17, 2013 Darn. Thanks, 8BrickMario. BTW, @mifody, nice pictures. :) Quote
legofreak86 Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Enjoyed the movie immensely. Not all sets are entirely accurate but they have escaped Lego iron man 3 line syndrome. All of the characters look fairly accurate and the sets are very well designed. Wish with the train being based on one of the biggest moments had been a bit larger. It could've done with maybe another carriage and loose the Gatling gun or just have it separate off the train. Apart from that, Lego has done a Stirling job and I will be picking the rest up as I have the bank one now. The bank could be used for anything really and the design of both buildings is seamless. Perhaps silver the horse should have been included rather than the wheelbarrow as he is present in two of the scenes involving the town. Quote
LayinBricks Posted August 19, 2013 Posted August 19, 2013 Yeah but soo many other sets have the horse. So many repeats. Quote
