New 2007 Castle stuff: Good for Pirating?

With a little bit of adaption, those skellies would make REALLY good undead Pirates. It looks like the swords the undead are carrying could be used as Pirate cutlassses, and with a little adaption im thinking that Castle could be turned into a fort - as for the evil fortress on the left, well, we all know classic Lego pirates love stuff with skulls on it :)

I'm not so sure about the skellies yet, but that castle (good guy's castle) could be a nice fort indeed. Although the highest tower needs to scrapped...

With the knowledge of these sets coming out, i have decided to discontinue my SW purchases (SW is getting kind of old anywayz w/ re-re-release of the x-wing and re-release of most of the other sets i have already) and purchase mostly these new castle sets instead. For piratey reasons of course. X-D

based on this picture, I'd say there's nothing that would fit Pirates very well. Sure, a skeleton here and there, most definitely these new swords, but I think that's it...

And perhaps the minifig heads and beards can be used to make an alternative crew for pirate ships. The rest is purely castle stuff if you ask me.

*shrug* As a closet castle fan (Most of my Minifig gear is castle related, and it shows through on my pirates...) its all good wif me :)

Bout six months back I made the jump from Castle to Pirates - I simply dont have the resources or the space to make big castles with armies to man them. Pirate ships with scallywag crews, though... ;)

I'll definately be using the skellies to crew my phantom ships. There has been some concerns about the arm configuration... sure they don't look as nice as the original, but the new arms can be posed. I'm thinking figurehead holding a weapon up and not dangling. I also like the look of the skull faces as much as original and both better than alpha team's slanted angry eyes face. :-X

Turning skull castle into skull island? huhm.... why not. I've never been a fan of any of the large brick built skull designs so far. I've tried to moc a better one and failed :'-( so I've given up on the idea for now.

Notice in the center of the image is white silhouette of a ship! Not that castle theme ships (cogs) have been convertable to the typical pirate theme, but hey, it's a ship!

Might be. :-P Probaly not going to get a set out of it since some people need circles to see it :-P and the fact that it is only a shadow. But my fingers are crossed. There is going to be a 2008 series isnt there. Pirates and Castle clash. :-P :-P

I think there is more for pirates in the new line than castle X-D, those swords (cutlasses) look very promising...

Actualy, the current swords are cutlasses. These new swords appear to be scimitars, or some manner of very heavy-bladed wakisashi.

I converted my Vladeks fortress into a pirate castle. Plus I put a giant war around it. >8-)

Sometimes castle walls and battlements can be very useful for pirate fortresses or Islander temples. Mr Jamtf, I know you're a man a collector's persuasion, but do you do much MOCing?

Castle good for pirate MOCing....it'll be ok. Not much you can use except maybe ship, undead army, and kraken parts. But, it's still pretty good.

There's some teeth/tenticle-shape thing in there. Techniquely, mostly anything can be kraken parts, i.e. sloped bricks.

I think the KK guy legs used in the Sea snake attacking the Viking Ship are much more useful for kraken tentacles...
