I stumbled across this set on lego.com today

http://shop.lego.com...-Princess-10656

It looks cute, lots of bright colors, some white picket fences, one of the new horses, the princess isn't a bad minifigure and it's not expensive.

Then I noticed the random pair of black legs. They don't really look like they'd go on the princess, why not white for her?

So what's up with that? Half a prince? Did the prince leave his pants behind when he heard the king knocking on the door? Thoughts?

Black does seem to be a somewhat odd color choice, but the reasoning for a spare pair of legs seems obvious to me: they're so that the princess has the option of riding the horse (which she can't do with the skirt piece).

That explanation would make more sense to me if the pants were white, or light blue, or in any way went with the princess's outfit.

Come on, in the the fashion world, black goes with everything. Or the princess just enjoys leather pants... :look:

Do you really doubt that explanation? Of course it's so the minifig can ride the horse - I can't imagine any reason which would make more sense than that.

Other explanations just seem so much funnier.
