D3K Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 A little bit of late night building tonight, getting in some progress on the Mk III Swingloader/Mecalac AS210E... The entire inside has been redesigned in front of the rear wheels, and is now very sturdy, reliable and compact Not sure about the cabin roof and doors yet. Also, need to perfect the kinematics, do some work on the rear.. Also need to improve the steering somewhat, as it pops out now (need to use 8 tooth gears and studded bricks/racks du to the 90 degree turn of the servo). Overall I like the looks of this one better than the Mk II Quote
unimog123 Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Very nice! Can't wait to see the finished product. Quote
Kumbbl Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Indeed! Very nice! Will you update the instructions too? This wouldalso be very nice ;-) But of course just a plea! Quote
D3K Posted March 19, 2014 Author Posted March 19, 2014 Thanks for the kind words! It's a completely new model, so instructions would have to be made from scratch.. But if the final model turns out good, I might take the time to make some instructions, just don't expect anything anytime soon Quote
Jullian_pdx Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 This looks good. Definitely a model that I would be interested to build. Quote
TinkerBrick Posted March 19, 2014 Posted March 19, 2014 Looks promising. I built your great SL MKII a three weeks ago. Have you altered the bucket geometry? It would be great to see some more WIP pictures. Looking foreword to the final design. Quote
D3K Posted March 20, 2014 Author Posted March 20, 2014 (edited) I'm a little bit divided on a couple of things, and seek your opinion regarding the wheels and the front mud guards So which of the folowing do you find best looking? Personally I am leaning toward the black rim with black sprocket in the middle now, although I was sure I was going to use just the grey rims yesterday Mud guard options: I feel the latter one represents the original AS210E pretty well... thoughts? Looks promising. I built your great SL MKII a three weeks ago. Have you altered the bucket geometry? It would be great to see some more WIP pictures. Looking foreword to the final design. The bucket geometry is different from the Mk II, yes... It is not finished yet, but hopefully it will be better! I have a couple of ideas I want to try, to hopefully make the kinematics close to the real life loader I'm glad you liked the Mk II Edited March 20, 2014 by D3K Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 I like the black rims and first idea for the front wheel arch. There is something about my wheel loader,I have it one facing me and I can't stop looking at it....its the way I styled it... Quote
Balrog Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 3rd wheel and none of the mudguards. Don't know why, but I don't like them both somehow. But no mudguard would be wrong. Quote
legolijntje Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 I would say the yellow wheels, they bring a bit of color in that black hole and give a bit of extra detail (on second place is the black wheel and please don't use the light-grey wheel, it looks out of place and ugly there). And, I would say the dark grey beam mudguards, because they look better together with the mudguards on the back. Quote
Kumbbl Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 To make the confusion Perfect: gray rims ;-) Quote
DrJB Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 dark gray rims would be nice too ... except that they don't come in such color. Quote
Hrafn Posted March 21, 2014 Posted March 21, 2014 Either mudguard is good; the one piece one is a little better IMO but its color doesn't match the rear mudguard. Do you have enough black liftarms to redo the rear one in black to match? Quote
Technyk32231 Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 As I wait for parts for my MB 290 G project (you might have seen it in efferman's Unofficial Bodybuilding topic), I have spent a couple of hours working in LDD on a new thing. The turntable is a dead giveaway.. yes, it's going to be an excavator And yes, it's going to be motorized. The plan is to have one batt box and four motors in both the chassis for drive, steer, blade and rear outriggers. And then a separated system of PF elements in the superstructure for the usual excavating stuff. While designing this, I made an ackerman steering solution, that allows the wheels to pivot inside the rims! It wa pretty simple, so it has probably been done before, but I can't remember having seen it anywhere,, Picture: http://sariel.pl/2010/11/steered-suspension-for-heavy-trucks/ Quote
D3K Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 Small taste of my current project, before I head for the mountains: Size comparison to Madoca's supercar: Still very much a work in progress.. I am slightly handicapped when it comes to white parts for detailing Quote
Rishab N Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Looks great! Will it have the same functions as madocas car? Quote
D3K Posted April 18, 2014 Author Posted April 18, 2014 More or less.. It doesn't have lights, but it makes up for it with all wheel independent suspension and a lot higher speed Quote
zux Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Looks very good, like the 42025 color scheme :) Quote
D3K Posted May 24, 2014 Author Posted May 24, 2014 I gave up trying to make a good looking white race car du to lack of the proper parts, and instead fitted Madoca's red supercar body on top of my RC chassis, with some modifications.. I made a Madoca's Supercar R, sort of Pictures and a video will follow Also, I am making something pretty huge, and I hope to actually finish it this time! The small one is for scale Quote
unimog123 Posted May 24, 2014 Posted May 24, 2014 Cool build you've got going on! It's to bad the race car project failed, but I think R version will be awesome. Well done with the new tracked chassis, looks very compact an sturdy. Quote
D3K Posted May 25, 2014 Author Posted May 25, 2014 Thanks, I think I might have to enlarge the tracked chassis a little.. ...and it's going to have yet another section! Also, here are some pictures of the Madoca's Supercar GT/R RC MOD Some minor exterior differences, mostly due to lack of parts. The area immediately in front and above the rear wheels had to be changed, as the RC Buggy motors take a bit of space. Also, the distance between front and rear axles is lenghtened by one stud, as I didn't have the patience to rebuild the chassis when I noticed Rear has different taillights (lack of proper parts), exhaust (it is after all an R-edition), and a retractable spoiler of different design (lack of parts). Here you can see the front independent push rod suspension, as well as the motors' placement in the rear. Both rear wheels also are sprung independently. Quote
