Vader Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 A simple set for lego to release for hoth would be a protect the sheild generator pack, it could come with 2 rebels, luke, han, chewie, leia, taun taun and wampa. It would be easy to make and would look good if done right, then as weve pointed out lego could produce a few battle packs to go along with it. Quote
Vaders_son Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I'd prefer OOM-9's option 2 because I think a base you can expand as you wish is better and you rather buy some 5-10 $ sets here and there then some 40-50 $ sets. Only problem I see in 2 - zero Stormies. *n* And we do need stormies for hoth *vader* Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Regarding HOth, TLC should definitly release different sets like they did with Jabba's palace ;-) You would have something like that * Rescue from the Wampa: Luke, Wampa and white BURPs and LURPs * Hoth patrol: Luke, Han, Chewie, 2 taun tauns and a black imperial droid * Hoth base: gun turret, shield generator, Leia, DV, snowies and rebels I know I am dreaming hehe !! I am so anxious to see what its gonna be like !! One thing we can be confident with is the number of MFs in the set ;-) *yoda* Quote
sam89 Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Well, I heard there would be "a Hoth base", so I'd guess there would only be one set ;-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Well, I heard there would be "a Hoth base", so I'd guess there would only be one set ;-) I know but you know I am a dreamer :-P and a real Hoth fan !! Maybe this is just a taste of things to come for January '08 8- Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Don't worry about the fleshies on every theme; look at exo-Force. ;-) -ZotS Quote

Vaders_son Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Yoda I don't think they should sell a shield generator in the only sets with troops don't you think? - would be a little expensive and I personally don't need about 20 shield generators^^ (at least not right now :-P ) Hoth rocks!! Quote
Luke Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Why is everyone so eager for a re-model of the AT-AT? I rate the original. It's probably my favourite model in fact and it wasn't that long ago when it was first released. Some people on here are just too fussy imo. If they do release a new model, I will have no choice but to buy it, then I'll have two different models on my shelf and it will just look ridiculous, actually 3 if you include that joke of a model - the dark side developer kit. Also, why is everyone so happy that Lego are releasing so many potentially expensive models this year (and over the last few years)? It took me a while to jump on the star wars lego bandwagon, and I need time to catch up on buying the older models. SLOW DOWN LEGO, WE'RE NOT ALL MILLIONAIRES!!! Rant over. Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 It's not that we want them to re-design the AT-AT because we disliked the original, in fact it's quite the opposite! Many people unfortunately didn't get a chance to buy the first one, or would like more copies, so we'd like them to re-release it in the form of a re-design (which is the only feasible way they would) so one of our favorite sets could become available again :-) Quote
Luke Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Fair point 4J, but why not just release the same model again?? To be fair, it's a good profit making scheme as far as Lego are concerned, but it screws the customer over big-time. I'm totally against re-developed models, but I suppose Lego won't stop as long as there's mugs like me around, who keep buying them! ;-). Perhaps Lego purposely produce slightly flawed models with an aim of releasing a more advanced model further down the line. The mind boggles... Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Why not release the same model again? I'm sure we'd like that, but you can't forget Lego is a business. If they can get a few extra people to buy another model for completion, why not? Nobody's forcing you to get the new one if you have the old one, you know :-P Especially since you like the old one so much! It's a smart business move, and I'm fine with it. It only starts getting to me with the 50 versions of the X-wing :-| Quote
Luke Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 True, nobody is forcing me to buy the re-release, but it will no doubt have some additional 'gimmick' which will make me want it! That was the case with the 'imperial inspection' which is almost identical to the imperial shuttle, but with a few extras thrown in. Like you say, it's the same with the new X-wing with Biggs thrown in. In my opinion, Lego can afford to be a little more imaginative and this is a quick & easy way of getting a boost in sales. Fairplay to Lego, but it's most annoying!!! Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Very true, but look at it this way: if they're doing something extra to it in order to make you want to buy it, you're getting a superior product! Win-win! At least that's what I tell myself to justify it :-P Quote
UltraPrime Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I actually didn't buy the new X-Wing. Was quite happy with the Dagobah set. I don't mind that there is another one. Quote
captaintau Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 So, in summary we're looking at the potential for AT-ATs in the following varieties: 1. A rerelease, exactly as-was 2. A rerelease with differences, as was done with the Dagobah X-wing 3. A remake Possibly two (or three) of those. Personally, I really want at AT-AT. A rerelease would suit me mine. A rerelease with differences I woudl get, but I'd prefer it as-was. A remake I'd also definately get. Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 What's really the difference between numbers two and three though? Quote
sam89 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Number 2 would be like 6212, it's the same set basically, but there's different figures/extras. Number 3 would be a complete redesign. Quote

Yeah, thanks. That's what I was thinking. For "redesign", think the old and new B-Wings or old and new AT-STs. They just don't compare Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Ah, thanks. I was thinking 2 was more redesigned. Frankly I'd take any version of the AT-AT, though fixing the head to be less prone to falling off, and a larger inside would be nice Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Lets hope 2008 will be the best year for Star Wars LEGO! -ZotS Quote
ReZourceman Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I hope they re-consider the UK pricing. I am thoroughly unimpressed with the price on Grievous ship and the droid battle pack. Neither are worth their very hefty price tags. Quote
Vaders_son Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 If you think the price is too high for the droidsBP what must you think of the cloneBP pricing?! Well, I guess I think the same anyway ;-) Quote
xwingyoda Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Jan 08?? wow you really are thinking ahead arent you X-D ;-) Well lets hope so mate. Hell yeay :-D I love to dream about what I would love tLC to release and we more or less know all the line-up for MF sets this year so I am anticipating hehe !! Why is everyone so eager for a re-model of the AT-AT? The original was IMO maybe the best SW set ever 8- Quote
Capn Kirk 911 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 You know i really wish lego would mix up the releases alittle bit more, ok 50-50 isnt bad and im not complaining but it would be nice if lego tried to release a set from each film everytime a new line comes out.It could be done with alittle thought, hmmm then again lego + thought= disaster X-D ;-) I also to wish the released more sets.l...but you know lego.... :S (nooffense everybody) Quote
