It sure could. That might be a great opportunity for Lego to use a similar mold to make two very desirable characters.

3 characters if they make a Spider-Man Lizard.

You know you have an addiction dedication to a hobby if you are willing to drive 80 miles in holiday traffic to pick up two toys (collectibles dammit!) because that is what I just finished doing. I was persistent enough to find the Shellraiser and Shredder's Bike a few weeks ago at TRU below Lego's prices (thank you 20% off coupon) but I just had to have the Sewer Lair and Baxter's Rampage. 80 miles folks. In parents' terms, the trip was long enough to listen to the Wiggle's Safari CD four times. That's 128 songs of Wiggles goodness folks! I am going to hear "Big Red Car" in my sleep now, but it was so worth it because the sets are awesome. AWESOME I tell you! Sigh. Off to bed now.

That is dedication for sure. We don't allow wiggles in our house because their music is too catchy. I am more excited for these sets whenever they come to a regular priced store. I think for what they are the price is a tad too high.

Heh, the Wiggles are catchy and therein lies the problem. I was building the Sewer Lair today and noticed a few tidbits. I was wondering if the Dark Ninja would have Chris Bradford's face and it does. Also, in Don's workshop there are a trio of blueprints. One was the Shellraiser, one was the T-Phone, and the other was for the Turtle Blimp! I don't know if the designers were just putting in a cool nod to the original show or if it is something to come? :oh:

I just finished putting together the Sewer Lair. It was a nice build, nothing repetitive. The set reminded me of the HP Burrow set or like one of the Kenner TMNT playsets I used to own. Splinter's head mold is well done and is a harder plastic not that soft stuff they sometimes use for specialized head molds. It could have been a bit bigger, I definitely would have shelled (get it?) out the dough for a Hogwarts size set to get more detail in the building, but all in all very nice. On a side note, this was the first time I put on my own stickers (my wife is an artist and has much steadier hands than I do) and I f-ed it up royally by putting on of the stickers on the wrong side of the wall. Fail on my part. :cry_sad:

I got the Sewer Lair yesterday.

Built the official set right away, but I've already pulled it apart for some MOCing. It's full of great details, great pieces in unique colors, and really fantastic minifigs. But the final set just didn't do it for me. I'm trying to retain a lot of those awesome details in a new configuration.

After having zero money for this I got 4 of the sets!

Mikey Kraang

Shredder's Bike

Sewer Hideout

And the Baxter one is on the way (didn't get in the mail on time)

Got all the turtles. All is good! :D

While it is not completely unexpected, it is a bit disappointing that all the other themes have the majority of their sets names revealed and TMNT is lacking. I hope this is due to the fact that no one has yet to get their hands on the list and not that TMNT is going to be a one-shot theme. We must have a Lego Leatherhead and Casey Jones! Do you hear me Lego? I demand more Ninja Turtles!

This wave of TMNT is for 2013. Not all themes get both a winter and summer wave. It might not be until next winter that we get more.

I think ninja turtles is safe. I would be astonished if there wasn't another wave.

As much as I am loving the Ninja Turtles line, I would not be shocked if we didn't get a second wave, just because these initial offerings have covered so much ground in the franchise. You got a sewer, you got turtle transportation, you got a killer robot, evil ninjas, alien brains... Plus every major character from the show has been covered. The line is a pretty concise snapshot of the Ninja Turtles.

On the otherhand, they've invested enough in new and very specific parts (Kraangs and evil mutants and Turtle shells/heads) that I could see them expecting to get a lot more traction out of this theme.

If Spongebob can get several years worth of sets, I think TMNT can...

Besides, the show itself is very popular and the toys were hot sellers this holiday season. I'm not sure why Lego didn't try to time their release for the holiday shopping season, but I'm sure they'll sell well regardless. I hope we get a second wave, if only to cover upcoming characters on the show like Leatherhead and Casey Jones.

I think it'll get another wave of sets around the end of 2013. Quite a wait but still...

The show has the ratings. The toys sell out like crazy. Both the young are buying them. I'd say they're probably selling well. It all hinges on if the new series can stay up there in the ratings (therefore selling more toys). So far it seems to be with the viewership going anywhere from 2.8 (lowest), 3.2 (premier, highest rated Nick premier for a long while) to 3.7.

Yeah, I also expect a wave for January 2014. Look at the Turtle Lair... It is already sold out EVERYWHERE! Also, none of the sets except the Shellraiser were at Toys"R"Us today.
