But if LEGO was smart they would make new sets for the Nickelodeon show around the time the new movie comes out. Kind of like how the first Batman series wasn't legally around the new movie, but they were released close together.

Hi all, I am not sure I have been looking at the right place but I cannot find reviews of the TMNT sets. The only exception is for 79101 shredder's dragon bike. Have any reviews for other sets been made? Thanks

Yea, seems like not a lot of people are doing picture reviews. But, Brickset made two: one for the Shellraiser, and one for the Kraang Lab Escape set. Also, for video reviews, YouTube has a plethora for each set.

I'm finding the posting in this thread to be rather lackluster. So...I'm hoping to contribute something worthwhile.

Firstly, the new Nick show has been greenlit for season 3, so the future appears bright at the moment for a potential long-term license. (This is assuming that LEGO has good sales on these sets and didn't shoot themselves in the foot with the Shellraiser. :sceptic: )

Secondly, and perhaps more exciting to some, are these awesome LEGO videos. Seriously, I'm surprised these haven't cropped up anywhere else! (Or I'm blind, lol.)

Mikey:

Raph:

Leo:

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.c...ed/be6_SlCIfWE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Donnie:

Enjoy!

I'm not sure how they shot themselves in the foot... That's a great set. It's accurate to the show, the vehicle itself is awesome and can fit all four Turtles in. And it can go on train tracks.

I'm sorry if this has already been posted but here are some pictures of the lego TMNT keyrings http://www.ebay.co.u...29a06a2b&_uhb=1

Thanks, those are petty neat. There are official picture of them on Brickset. This is a nice way of getting those version of Leo, Raph, and Donnie from the largest sets they're in. Too bad they didn't use the version of Mikey from the Shellraiser as well.

I've been working on some TMNT reviews. Just give me a few more days...

I hope that LEGO releases a Leatherhead minfigure for this line in the future.

Can't you just use one of the Chima crocks? You're a Cragger fan after all, aren't you? I know they're kind of small, especially compared to Dogpound, but close enough.

Those are indeed pretty awesome, thanks for sharing! They also finally started showing commercials for these sets on TV, although I can't find them online anywhere.

You make some good points, however I'm referring to the general reviews the vehicle seems to be getting. A lot of complaints about stability and problems with assembly.

In the United States, it's Toys"R"Us. I'm not sure of the Australian version of it.

Thanks, that usually means it will be a TRU exclusive here too.

I'm not a fan of the Shellraiser in the show or in Lego form. I much prefer the split apart cart vehicle/s from the show. The Shellraiser is just too big and ugly.

I hope if there is another wave we get more mutants. They're the fun part of the show. The weirder the better. The Kraang are getting boring and are far too easily defeated. As are The Foot. Though more of them with Karai would be a decent set. Also cool would be The Pulverizer. He'd have to have a big belly like Bombur in the LOTR sets. And definitely Mr. Murakami and the Purple Dragons main trio.

This is an amazing show with really cool characters. It would be a crying shame not to get any of the oddball ones. I mean besides Fishface and Dogpound.

Agreed. Those would make for a great set if we get another wave as that split-apart feature seems like a perfect play function for a Lego set.

Isn't that kind of the point of The Foot? To be the Stormtroopers of the TMNT universe? Seeing as Casey Jones is confirmed for next season, the Purple Dragon will probably get more focus too, so they're likely to appear in the next wave if there is one.

It is a license with the Nick show, not the movie. They would have to do a whole new license for the movie turtles, of which I don't see them doing to tarnish their good deal with Nickelodeon.

No they wouldn't. You see, Nickelodeon owns all future distribution of TMNT. This includes future shows and movies. The Michael Bay movie would by owned by Nick.

We don't know how the contracts are. The Michael Bay movie and ultimately the Ninja Turtles completely are owned by Nick. However, the contract of the Micheal Bay movie was made before the sale to Nick. They might literally be stuck in it because they still have to honor it as the new owners. So for all we know they might not own the RIGHTS to the movies anymore (at least until something happens, like they stop making them).

Similar thing happened to Marvel. They started making their own movies but Sony still has the exclusive rights to make X-Men and Spiderman despite the fact that Marvel wants to do those themselves. Nick might hate the Micheal Bay TMNT movies as much as most of us do but they could be stuck :P. Also, often these things include toy deals so they might not even have ultimate power over the toys for the movies.

More like Nickelodeon went to Michael Bay personally about it. They aren't stuck in it if they wanted it that way.

I won't be watching Bay's movie. As far as I'm concerned the turtles are a comic book and cartoon entity. The animated movie a few years back was as filmic as the turtles should ever get. It's a damn shame there weren't sequels. Live action turtles is just wrong. :sadnew:

I'm looking at this theme like this: The Turtles theme is aimed at an audience that is younger than any of us posting here. I assume that Lego listen to them more than us. If the turtles stay cool with the kids then the kids will want more turtles sets. The Lego sets are after all just a promo for the show. Same as the Playmates action figures are. Though the range of action figures includes Stinkweed, Leatherhead, Metalhead and Rat king. By not including a wider variety of secondary characters Lego may lose out to Playmates. :look:

I haven't seen it in years. At some point I'm going to sit down and watch all three together, then have myself lobotomised.

Michael Bay was involved with the movie before they bought Ninja Turtles. I'm not saying Nick hates the idea. The $$$ look good I'm sure :P.

But I'm not sure they're not stuck. Tons of companies get stuck like this. Marvel, DC, blablabla. Maybe they're happy stuck. Maybe they're sad stuck.

Most buyouts tend retroact or revoke contracts, and have the director and cast who originally signed on for it be completely replaced. Nick could have easily just put someone else on for the movie. ;)

But anyways point is Lego can make sets from the movie if they wanted. If Nick was set on having that movie made and out for next year or so, they would have included it in the license.

Since my dream license is finally released in Europe, although the sets are quite expensive and it is based on the new cartoon, I'm very eager to buy them.

On a sidenote, I was checking some videos on youtube and I encountered this nice stop-motion video:

I don't think it's been posted here before but I hope you enjoy it anway.

There are shorts of every turtle on the same channel.

I still find it strange that they based the human characters on the lego face designs whil they didn't go for the same eye-design for the turtles. They could have just used white eyes or something.

That was already posted on the last page.

By the way, the month of April will have a TMNT theme at the Lego Stores (which is fitting seeing as that's the name of their human friend  ) and there will be a Splinter key chain that you get free with a $75 purchase. This might be useful for people who don't want to get the Turtle Lair just for him.
