Rijkvv Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 You need to give your address, does that mean a bill is sent? Quote
legolijntje Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 never....... [...] I said maybe... At least my MOC is finally done.... Quote
nychase Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 No your address isn't required technically speaking...there is no bill. Its still active to help prevent spam. You check out with paypal instantly. As far as the sample...yes we are writing a script that will randomly pull 2 or 3 pages from the instructions. Also, I wanted Grazi's Tow Truck to be free but haven't been able to get it to work reliably since the act of "checking out" is the authentication method for approving usage of the files. I will try to get it worked out with a coupon code so everyone can see what the instruction viewer looks like. YES... if you want to have your MOC's posted I highly recommend filling out the "sell" link so that I can start to keep track of everyone and get the information out when we are ready to add more users. Theres a good chance that while I am waiting for the designer page to be developed I will continue to add more established MOC's in the meantime. Quote
ReflectioN Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 This sound very promising, but why the required registration before checking out? Yet one more username and password to remember... It shouldn't be so hard to just sell instructions to anybody willing to pay the bill with PayPal? Quote

Alasdair Ryan Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 (edited) The websites binds all your bought instructions to your account, so you can easily download them later. There is a beneficent to that, but maybe you could also have the ability to buy instructions with out signing up? Edited September 4, 2013 by Alasdair Ryan Quote
zux Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 There is a beneficent to that, but maybe you could also have the ability to buy instructions with out signing up? I wish to agree with that. Since this site requires "yet another website registration", where you'll forget login details after few days. Quote
nychase Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 You need to have the log-in information because your plans are available for viewing only while logged-in. I might try to integrate facebook log-ins or if paypal ever offers it, paypal log-ins. Quote
OzBen Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I just purchased a set of instructions and found the site rather quick and easy to use. Link was emailed instantly and the instructions are very high quality. Top work, I will be purchasing more in the future for sure! Quote
Jim Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Nice site! Well done! I personally don't think it's a problem to have a log in. You need to have some form of authentication, which makes the site reliable in making the instructions available. Okay, there are workarounds for this, but I do understand this approach. Quote
drakmin Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Hi, site looks promising! Really great idea! I'm interested in sharing my Technic Snowspeeder if I just find the time to do instructions. (atleast I already made an account) Quote
2LegoOrNot2Lego... Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I have been involved quite a lot the last couple of weeks. This way I really like to thanks the developers team for doing such a great work. They were really listening to what I was asking or suggesting. To me it seems like this site is going to be a big hit!!! Thanks for all who are involved with the development of this site and I wish you all the best improving stuff!!! I am a big fan, I want you guys to know!!! Quote
Jim Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 I'm interested in sharing my Technic Snowspeeder if I just find the time to do instructions. (atleast I already made an account) First buyer!! I have downloaded all your images and have been looking at them very closely. If I had 48 hours in a single day I would have tried reverse engineering it. Is it okay to comment (slightly off topic maybe) potential instruction distributors in this topic? Quote
GuiliuG Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 The site is really great. But why are the prices indicated in dollar rather than in euro ? Quote
nychase Posted September 5, 2013 Author Posted September 5, 2013 Well the simple answer to that is because I am in the US and didn't think about it. I am sure there is a way to have the price adapt to the currency in their locale but I will have to change that. Also, got your seller request! Gotten quite a few already! Quote
Ramacco Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) Very good site! And it looks very very good too. Must have been a lot of work and lines of code to achieve :) (I'm learning webdevelopment in my spare time ;) ) One question that I have to ask: why aren't the pictures at the front page all the same size? Looks kind of weird to me, but maybe that's done on purpose, and then I can live with that :) Edited September 6, 2013 by Ramacco Quote
nychase Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 Is it okay to comment (slightly off topic maybe) potential instruction distributors in this topic? I think we should. I have already received many, many seller account requests just in the first 2 days. In the long run it will be easier for me to manage if everyone fills out the form on the website but its fine to discuss it all here first. Plus, I havn't really sent word out to the general public or even the general lego people since I don't yet have any MOC's on the site that would satisfy them. Quote

IJsmuts Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 i just purchased the instructions for the tow truck to support this site, but i can only see the instructions in a flash player. Is it possible to get the instructions in pdf? Quote
OzBen Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 First of all I want to give thanks again to the creators of the MOCs on the site, they are awesome and i respect the time and effort that goes into producing the instructions, I certainly do not have the skills to do it!! So I don't want my feedback/ suggestion to be taken the wrong way :-) Perhaps if you could load the parts into Brickstore to check the average price of the parts. Some super expensive parts could perhaps be substituted for cheaper colored versions if they are hidden inside the model or substituted for a couple of cheaper parts that do the same job. I just BL'd the missing parts for the Lotus F1 car and there was no way I was going to pay $6+ for a green 1x4 snot brick x12 qty!!!!! I will see how my substituted parts look once built :-) Quote

I will see how my substituted parts look once built :-) Of course everybody can substitute parts, and you can easily check those that are almost completely hidden: when I design my cars I'm a perfectionist (to me a snot brick under a tile is not "completely hidden") and I consider the rare color parts availability, but then after months or years some parts became very rare and expensive while other parts that once I've used only where strictly necessary are now widely available In any case, a black brick under a dark blue or dark green body is a fair solution difficult to be seen Quote
OzBen Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 In any case, a black brick under a dark blue or dark green body is a fair solution difficult to be seen That's exactly what I have gone for :-) I have BL'd 10179 with a heap of unnoticeable subs so in an old hand at it lol Quote
nychase Posted September 7, 2013 Author Posted September 7, 2013 I have collected for every one of those cars (as most of you know). If there are any questions based on subbed parts colors please ask me. I know RoscoPC doesn't like to sub but I certainly understand there are times that it just can't be done. Those 1x4 bricks are a perfect example and the black is just fine instead of the Dk Green. Quote

I will see how my substituted parts look once built :-) The MOC on MOCplans that I build is the US Truck T2 MkII. This model is a typical example of a rebuild/revised model. Amongst other things I have tried to make it achievable for as many builders as possible. For this I have replaced some parts with easier to get once. Obviously some parts are essential for the looks, those are not replaced! I am working on a solution for the chrome parts. For the time being, these might as well be replaced by gray parts... It is obvious that it is not realistic to build a model entirely using BrickStore... :-) Some rare parts have to be used to get things done... Never the less, thanks for sharing your thought and I absolutely agree with you!!! And thank for the kind words... Quote
