Hm, seems as a lot of negative comments about the Mobile Devastator have been popping up here. As a matter of fact, I will have to dissagree with all of them, as I find that the MD is one of the coolest looking exo-force sets this year.

I truly think the design is pretty darn awesome, and not boxy at all. True, it uses a lot of technic, but so did the Striking Venom, and I haven't heard any complaints about that kit. And the wheels.... honestly, I don't think they are any worse than the wheels in the Starwars Hailfire Droid, an excellent kit. There really isn't any other way TLC could have done the wheels on a tank like this, and even they may have other uses (as the wheels on the hailfire droid have).

But what makes this vehicle really special to me is all the cool features. It's great to see more prison pod carying vehicles, and the suspension on the wheels looks very functional and flexible. The bottom cockpit is neat, and the top is.... amazing! Double quad cannons,, Devastator gunners, and a kick-butt looking design make it my favorite detail.

Also, Hitomi's mech is very interesting, and I think the arm weapons are a nice departure from normal exo-force fare. But you know what else I see? 13 FIGURES! Yes, we get Hitomi, 6 Iron drones, 3 Devastators, a COMPLETE Meca One, and even two skeletons! That is the biggest figure count in any exo force set to date, making this kit even more apealing to me.

So overall, I really like this kit, and if I had the money to spare, I would possibly get it. ;-)

What really confounds me though, is not the general dislike of the Mobile Devastator, but the fact that so many people love Hayato's Areo Blaster, a kit that I think is the most outrageous exo force kit ever designed (do the words, top heavy, ring a bell?) *wacko*

I don't mind the set either. The wheels aren't bad. I just wish they weren't lime green. And I'm not too keen on the turret either.

See, thats not a compliment, because the wheels on the HailFire droid where terrible. (not really TLG's fault, because the design of the HailFire was Lucas's not theirs... but it was still bad)

Useless giant bicycle wheels.

As for any other way they could have done it, they could have used this:

part 2573

Techinc bricks doesnt bother me, nor does the boxy shape -that makes it look heavy and armoured like a tank, which is good. It's just that bicycle wheels really do not fit the overall 'tank' theme and mess it up for me...

I personally like the tank, just from a quick glance. The only place where I think they could go wrong are the wheels. I purchased the last exo force tank, and to be honest the design is flawed. Im sure a few other share my opinion. The whole deal with the treads is just lame, other than that its pretty cool. I think these large wheels would be totally awesome if they had sort of the turbo tank design or perhaps the three wheeled vehicle from the retro and refurbished 'life on mars' theme. In simple words...they need to bounce. On top of that, it looks like the sides fall down..but its hard to tell. I think there needs to be some sort of door mechanism..that would be cool. Like a giant transport tank. Most of all, it better not fall apart.

xenologer: Those would be way too small.

Actually, those space wheels came in 4 sizes, all of them look similar.

tiny, small, large

and GIGANTIC.

Obviously we need the Gigantic ones.

Youre probably thinking of the ones on the Clone Turbo Tank, those were the large size.

Gigantic is even bigger! X-O But they only showed up in one set ever: http://www.peeron.com/inv/sets/6989-1

Correction: 2 sets, the UCS Star Destroyer used them as giant engine nozzles.

No, those still aren't big enough.

I think the bicycle wheels are too tall to begin with, taller than the tank's body itself.

the giant space wheels look... approximatly half to 2/3 the size to me.. hard to tell with the funny picture angles.

So they'd end up lower than the tank's main hull, making room for some kind of wheel well covers on top...

most tanks like to hide their wheels or tracks so this probably works out ok

anyhows... they probly aren't going to change it no matter how hard I wish...

I wonder if its worth my time to buy and mod the thing...

the green bicycle wheels could *almost* work in a flying saucer deal for Mars Mission

or maybe as some esoteric architecture in a space base... (stak them to make a cylindrical building maybe?)

Guys, firstly, maybe this isn't a tank, and to be quite frank, I love those wheels, I think they go good with the design of the tank/vehicle thingy, but you are right that it could be good for a building(eat your heart out Daniel H. Burnham! :-P )but on the thing(tank thingy)the thing I worry about is:where do they store the mini-flyers?All the other sets look good, but why couldn't they do a gate on the Golden tower?

The miniflyers are stored behind the two huge gatling blaster cannons at the top.
