Brainbox Posted March 9, 2007 Posted March 9, 2007 The Astro Fighter's still great! I like the shuttle in the base, but unfortunately not the base itself. And is that a jetpack I see one of the astronauts wearing in the base pictures? I think it is! A very bulky jetpack for flight, and clearly not an oxygen tank, but a jetpack nonetheless. I love the way the trike is airtight. ;-) Actually, it is airtight... for the alien. Who lives on Mars, and can probably breathe there anyway. Whereas the driver (who presumably cannot breathe on Mars) gets an all but open cockpit. *wacko* So, I'll definately get one if not a few of the MX-11 Astro Fighter, and maybe the dropship and the drilling rig, which isn't shown here. Perhaps because of its 'limited edition' nature. Actually, the wheeled mech-type-thing isn't here either. Quote
Optimax X Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Guys, what is this mars mission set? No image http://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Mars-Mission-...73860243&sr=1-6 Quote
Brainbox Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 This: (Yes, I know I could've found a better pic.) Actually... why is the tank shooting away from the alien fighter? *wacko* Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 14, 2007 Posted March 14, 2007 Well, they need to show the whole set right? -ZotS Quote
Scouty Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Actually... why is the tank shooting away from the alien fighter? *wacko* Because they are tracking missles? These don't look very pleasing to the eye unfotunately. Though, those tran-colored windows would be a reason for me to bricklink them! Quote
maiq the liar Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 *looks at 7691* Aarh.... Me want... *Gets to the CHOPPA.* Quote
Brainbox Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Well, they need to show the whole set right?-ZotS Yeah, but couldn't they have sort of swapped the positions round. Have the 'tank' on the left and the alien on the right. Although, that might make it look like the humans are chasing the aliens. Because they are tracking missles? I hadn't thought of that. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 15, 2007 Posted March 15, 2007 Guys, what is this mars mission set? No imagehttp://www.amazon.co.uk/LEGO-Mars-Mission-...73860243&sr=1-6 Probably the Special Edition set. And Brainbox, That box art could change ya know? -ZotS Quote
Brainbox Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Probably the Special Edition set. I said already, it's the claw tank I posted the early box art of. Sorry if I didn't make myself clear. :-) Quote
xenologer Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Actually... why is the tank shooting away from the alien fighter? *wacko* If you look closely, those are actually mini frisbees. He's not shooting at anyone, theres another tank robo that he's playing frisbee with. Quote
Optimax X Posted March 16, 2007 Posted March 16, 2007 Who really cares about these petty things? I certainly don't, as long as the set is good, i don't give a thought to the box art. Nobody is perfect, everyone gets these little details wrong now and again. ;-) Quote
Brainbox Posted March 17, 2007 Posted March 17, 2007 as long as the set is good, i don't give a thought to the box art. True, but the box is the first thing you see on the shelf. It has to entice people who are unsure about which set they want to buy. I usually have a good idea of what I want, but some people don't. Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted March 20, 2007 Posted March 20, 2007 Yah, its true, the box usually makes peoples opinions. -ZotS Quote
Brainbox Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 New pic of the Armoured Drilling Rig here. It looks shorter than expected. And unfortunately we can't see the detatchable ship and bike properly because the whole appendage is tilted back. But from what I can make out, it looks pretty good. The alien fighter looks a bit flimsy though. Either that or it's going for the 'nimble' idea. Quote
xenologer Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 New pic of the Armoured Drilling Rig here. Nice, looks like its using the Mega Core Giant Wheels; I couldn't tell size from all the distorted perspective on older pics. Also looks like the wheels are mounted on from both sides, not just the bionicle leg on the outer side of each. Which is great because I was expecting it to be flimsy; migth even have some kind of suspension. But obviously no steering mechanism still... |-/ Single technic beam drill arm looks really flimsy. They need to bulk that up; I want to see something like a pile driver on this thing! and from what I can see of the chassis... its all technic-ed up with plates on the outside; along similar lines to the Mobile Devastator EF set :-X They're trying to cut down on bricks it seems... I'd say that it's the arm that looks flimsy rather than the actual drill. I dunno, the sides don't look that bad to me. It gives it a sort of rugged look. But only time will tell. Quote
zero1312 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Wow, much better than Life on Mars. I like the robot tank set and the medium sized alien craft the most. *sweet* Quote
sam89 Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 I found some new Space pics in this gallery: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=248980 Quote

ReZourceman Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 When are these out in this Country guys? Quote
Mr Hobbles Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Im not generally a space person, but I really want two of those sets. Firstly, 7692 reminds me of the Orca gunships from C&C, which is one of my favourie aircraft designs ever. I really like the design of this model. Secondly, 7699 is just awesome. I don't really care for the rest, or the enemy ships. Quote
Brainbox Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 When are these out in this Country guys? I'd guess August, or possibly September. The tank-thing doesn't look that bad here. Still not to my liking, but certainly not bad. The Mobile Drilling Rig is still great. It's a pity we still haven't had a proper look at the bike though. Clearly, someone really hates the jellybean aliens. ;-) Quote
xenologer Posted April 23, 2007 Posted April 23, 2007 Clearly, someone really hates the jellybean aliens. ;-) That cute little alien-slaying scene seems to be a mix of ... SW, Classic, and of course the new Alien figs. Now, I'm no expert on the way TLG reps like to set up their displays... but this would seem to indicate that those new figs are in someone's possession, not of TLG. !someone from that convenction has Mars Mission early? 8- Quote
