Chuck Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Check out these french toys fair picture links:1) and 2) -l2k- Quote
xenologer Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks for the links! The toyfair links in the other thread have been giving me errors all day, so this alternate picture server is a godsend. Ugh... what ugly aliens... why would they go from movable arms(like the prototype) to this thing... Maybe they couldn't produce the Real ones in time for the toy convention? ?maybe?... well... I guess my ExoForce drones are going to have a new home... and these gummi bear aliens can go... out the window for all I care Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Okay, heres the deal with the aliens: They are 2 pieces, made up of the torso and the legs. You can see in the Toyfair pics that some aliens are bending over or sitting. The prelim aliens had movable arms, but the final versions do not. For example: -l2k- Meaning that they're at least two parts. I'd bet arms move as well. We're still speculating at this point. They've never made a multipart mold that didn't have arms move Quote

The arms and head are molded on.-l2k- Yes, I know, that's what I was talking about from the beginning. Not only do we not know for sure that the arms are molded on (it could be a trick of the light, you can't discount that), but there may still be small changes by release. I'd be extremely surprised otherwise. Quote

Starwars4J Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Also guys, maybe remove the pics from the thread for now? I was holding back on embedding the images since...I think, they do put a strain on the servers of the mirrors, and I know they're pretty strained now Quote
Vader Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Judging by past lego aliens/figs i would be very surprised if the arms on the aliens were not able to be moved, ive said it before and ill say it again these are prelim pics and could change. Quote
Asuka Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 No, no, no. They ARE two peices. look at the close-up pic I posted. The arms and head are molded on.-l2k- This Martian (thanks for the pic, that Quote

Only time can tell, I guess. But the current versions are indeed two peices. -l2k- Quote

Chuck Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 In your opinion it is ;-) Don't contradict me. Only I can do that :-P -l2k- Quote
xenologer Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 Ya know after seeing these Great New Photos I'm seriously thinking that part of the storyline is Humans exploiting the Aliens as some kind of fuel source (like their bodies are radioactive or something) Every human vehicle has those orange 'alien containment' cylinder's integrated into the structure, usually near the rear like an engine component -note the small rovers, the rocket in the base set, even the dropship that looked like a med-evac thing has power conduits running out of those cylinders... well, while the aliens and their 'LOM containment sleds' look pretty useless, the cylinders themselves are transparent orange... and might be useful in some MOCs... -new warp core- Quote
iamded Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I actually don't think these look too bad. I can just imagine having space battles between aliens and humans. I used to collect the old Life on Mars sets, but then they were discontinued before I could afford the rest. I managed to get the big base though. This base looks pitiful, but still a good addition if you were building up a moon base. Well, duh. I now have to debate whether to get these sets or the castle ones. I probably wont be able to afford all of these, let alone all these and the castle ones :-( . Darnit! Why'd I convince myself these sets were cool! :-P The alien ship in set 7691 (the big alien ship) looks almost organic. It's a shame we can't get a good look at those aliens. :-( Quote
mutex Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Here is a scan from the danish retail catalogue. I know that it doesnt show much, but I thought it was worth scanning: Can a good Danish fellow translate the sentence ? ;-) Quote
snefroe Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 In your opinion it is ;-) if you look at the pics on the box, you can clearly see that these green creatures are grabing a steering wheel or something, so the arms rotate just as any other arm of a minifig... in my opinion, it seems as if the head rotates as well. in any case, they look fragile. it seems to me that these hands easily break. they don't look as strong as normal Lego hands... i also find they look like cheap plastic. the other space astronauts don't look all that bad, however, it's very likely that most fans will add airtanks. the visors should have been in some sort of transparent color, not this solid golden look... Quote
Vader Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Yeah sne i think your right about the figs arms and head as i said before lego tend to give their figs good movement. Nice pic by the way, now if we can just get a viking to translate for us. Quote
Starwars4J Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Finally! Thanks sne ;-) I figured the head moved too. And if you look CLOSELY the far hand almost seemed to be rotated slightly, though it really looks like it could be a trick of the light. I'm pretty sure it's just arm/head/leg Quote
Wobo Ihi Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Can a good Danish fellow translate the sentence ? ;-) I'm swedish, but I'll do my best here... :-P "THERE IS SOMETHING OUT THERE! Find out what it is, when the new LEGO Mars Mission lands in August 2007." Quote
Christian Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 I'm swedish, but I'll do my best here... :-P"THERE IS SOMETHING OUT THERE! Find out what it is, when the new LEGO Mars Mission lands in August 2007." Yes that totally correct translated. The catalogue that I got the pic from, is actually quite different from the one that was posted earlier on 100steine, but I thought that this was the only page that was worth scanning. Quote
natelite Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 i also find they look like cheap plastic. yup...prototypes are usually made from cheap plastic molds. :-P in fact some parts, like the gold visor seems to be spray painted. and the fisto head...like from claymation. hopefully the production version will be better and with more variety than just trans-dark-green. not that i dont dig the jelly color, but it could of course be better. ;-) what i dont dig is customized alien parts. ie, droids parts dont mix with EF robot parts or alien parts. if only they make it so that mfs (normal and customized) can mix and match. ie alien torso + robot legs, or alien torso + minifig legs. :-P Quote

Yeah... it looks like their hands do not have a rotating wrist like normal minifigs or even EF drones.. I can forsee that lack of articulation leading to breakage when kids (or me) try to make them grab onto things... I dunno about adding airtanks to the astronauts; since I came out of dark ages to find Space was dead, all my spaceship mocs basically had to go witout scuba tanks(rare in town sets). Its actually kinda convenient to not need the extra space when building cockpits and stuff... Besides, scuba tanks dont look that great, id rather they introduced a new airtank that looks like something modern... flat and square... Quote
Zaktan of the Shadows Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Lol, that teaser pic has a funny guy on it. *wacko* -ZotS Quote
sam89 Posted January 20, 2007 Posted January 20, 2007 I found this pic on ToyWiz. It's the only pic they have up at the moment: http://us.st11.yimg.com/us.st.yimg.com/I/d..._1934_672256269 I've got to admit, this set looks really good! Quote

Tks Sam ;-) I really think this line has a great potential !! Anyhow I will buy more sets to pimp my Team Odysseus project (which has been dormant for a long while !!). Since its an orange/white theme, those MM sets will be heaven for parts and design ideas ;-) From that pic, I love those orange treads and wheels !! They will put in good use hehe !! *yoda* Quote
