AncientDayz Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Track is definitely the kicker. The first accessory someone who has purchased a Lego train set will be looking for is more track and if they can't get it easily the set will just end up on a shelf somewhere gathering dust. This is so true. I had the Red Cargo Train and the Yellow Cargo Train from last Christmas. This month, I decided to expand, and I picked up 2 Maersk trains and the Emerald Night. I am eyeing the Horizon now as well. However, all of my trains are sitting under a shelf right now because even after buy 3 sets of the 8 straight/8 flex packs (and having the track from the Red and Yellow trains), I still don't have enough to properly display all of the trains, let alone power them along a track. avidlegofan Posted February 6, 2014 Posted February 6, 2014 Lego was selling the 9v straight track for $13 for 8 pieces. They moved to plastic/RC track citing its cheaper to build, but now are charging $20 for 8 straight and 4 straight track length of that flex track which slows the trains down and doesnt look good. So instead of making the track cheaper by switching to all plastic, it went 2x cost almost. I would agree, Lego shud package 8 straights for $10 or so coz thats what its worth and leave different kinds of track pieces in separate packages. A package for straight track, a package for curved and another for flex track so you cal buy a la carte. Quote
grymg Posted February 7, 2014 Posted February 7, 2014 I got HO scale track for around $2/ea used. Sadly Lego straight track is similar in price. I don't think Lego would ever do 8 straights for $10. Quote
