This MOC is amazing! (I'm sure your getting sick of hearing that haha)

But I too would like a little clarification on that Gamling minifigure, I really want to make my own.

The hair is Boromir's? Correct? And what about the face :/ I don't recognize that...

Thanks to anyone who can help!

Yes. Boromir's hair (my boromir is nolonger ginger). Head is just from a Rohan soldier (Uruk hai army set).

Fantastic build!

Question, on this pic here:

003

Are some of the bricks custom painted? There's a lot of dark shading and I was wondering if it's from the photography or painting.

That 'shading' is just the reflection from a wall of shiny new DBG bricks.....the result of poor photography rather than painting.

I should say that this is one of the best things as I have seen! I would I had as many parts as thou hast :S Where doth one buy separate bricks? Only American sites, I guess...?

hi,

I am fascinated by this work!

I can ask you a question, have you by chance work with LDD and can provide file. LXF?

I'm not trying to reproduce the same, but only the exterior (without the interior of the keep and the caves beneath), thus removing the rear part

Sorry - I just built this by a lengthy process of trial and error. No plans exist or i would gladly share them.

The model is made up of several 'modules' - the central module comprises the inner curved wall (modified from original lego set), the spiral ramp, the upper area (where the statue of Helm is) and the front wall of the cloister area. Perhaps if i posted some pictures of this 'module' (from various angles) on Flickr it would help you?

Great Expansion

i always thought the set was way to small

I would buy this if this was the set

Great wOrk

Thank you for your response

Yes, of course I am very interested to have more photos

I intend to buy 2 sets Helm deep to get closer to your MOC, part mountain with gray brick and dark gray will be probably not present

Every time I look at this I am amazed. I echo what everyone else had said, simply amazing. I too wish TLG would produce this as an official addition to Helm's Deep.

Fantastic work. Always like the modular sections, and the boulder was a cool nod to the book.

Amazing. This would be a UCS if released.

That is really cool! Takes a great set and makes it perfect, good work!

This is excellent work! A fantastic adaptation of the original, I love it!

I love how well it blends with the design of the set. I sometimes have to check what it is that actually isn't in the set.

The mountain/caves blend seemlessly, awesome mod of the official set!

I'm hoping that you (eurolock) still follow this thread...

I'm planning to model my Helm's Deep build on yours (with a few changes, of course, and without all the interiors/caves), and I have a few questions:

What did you use for the upper body and beard of the statue of Helm Hammerhand?

It LOOKS LIKE you used 2 of the Helm's Deep sets to get the proper heights for the outer- and inner-keep, correct? What other sets did you cannibalize for pieces?

I'm planning to use 2 Helm's Deep sets and 7-8 Uruk-Hai Army expansions to get more length on the outlier wall, and I'll have to order medium- and dark-stone bricks/plates/tiles by the pound for all the rock formations; did you happen to document your build (did you keep a parts-list or make "instructions")? Do you have any recommendations about which/how many bricks to order from Lego to make the innermost chamber of the keep?

Hope to hear from you soon!

I'm still here...

Helm Hammerhand was cobbled together with bits I happened to have - so not necessarily optimal..the beard is just a standard 6132 light bluish gray beard (I think gandalf's would be better). The torso is a collectible mini-figure series 6 classic alien ( musculature is hidden by the beard thankfully) - a plain lbg torso would be better.

A second helm's deep set used but i also had to bricklink lots of extra slopes, plates etc. Luckily i have 2 lego stores nearby and was able to get multiple pick a brick cups of lbg and dbg bricks (1x2, 1x3, 1x4) which helped.

No master parts list or instructions i'm afraid. Send me a pm if you need any help. Good luck with the build!

Hey Eurolock, you mentioned in another Helm's Deep MOC thread you had made some additions to your own MOC. Any chance we will be seeing some updates in the near future?

Hi Deathleech, I had planned a range of minor changes - nothing dramatic and have bought the requisite parts from bricklink. But I'm currently in the early stages of building a weathertop Moc so am devoting my time to that at the moment.

Outstanding work!

So happy I found this thread! This is awesome! I love that you basically kept the official Helm's Deep intact, but fleshed it out. It looks perfect. Is this still intact? Have you added to it at all? I'd love to see it on a landscaped base.

Again, truly inspiring work. Makes me want to give it a go!

What was the "crash of 2012"?

This MOC is fantastic! Love it! Seriously considering trying to build this...

Amazing MOC. I really like everything about it.

That's an amazing build.

I love that you kept it playable by making it modular.
