TimH Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Thanks for the video reviews, Anio! I'm looking forward to adding these two sets to my collection. Quote
irispen Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 i think 8109 is alot better than 42008.. :/ cant wait for the 42008 crane!!! Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Anio, thanks for the great reviews! Also, the TechLug website looks great! Wish I knew French. Quote
Anio Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Thank you. Both 42008 & 42009 do not really work smoothly :( 42009 does work smoothly. In the video, when I retract the telescopic section, it is not smooth because the arm is not totally raised. But when it is, it is smooth. There is just the hook that is not heavy enough. Quote
paul_delahaye Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 It really shows that hook is not weighty enough to keep the string taught. Thats a shame, and there are little options available to add weight? Quote
leoparder Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I think that if you lift anything with it, it will be "weighty" enough Quote
zux Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Anio, thx for reviews! I like 42008 for its colors, green is pretty nice because of this it looks better than 42009, however not impressed with the functions of 42008, which are way better in 42009. Still not sure if I should go for any this year's top models (except 41119, with a bit of a luck). Quote
Paul Boratko Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Anio, are those red gears the only new parts in the 42009..? Other than the redesinged curved panels..? Quote
Anio Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) Anio, are those red gears the only new parts in the 42009..? Other than the redesinged curved panels..? Some small wheels (with tires) may be new, but I'm not sure. There are also black 16L axles (they were only white till now) Edited June 9, 2013 by Anio Quote
merman Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) So, the boom doesn't extend simultaneously with the lowering of the hook, like 8421 did? Is this very troublesome? What is the difference between the old and the new curved panels besides the position of the holes? And could you please please post the partslists of 42008 and 42009? No, it is not such a big problem. As for the panels, no differences excepted the holes. 42008 : 42009 : Quote
merman Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 Cool! Thanks a lot. Somehow the amount of parts in 42009 seems little haha Quote
Waler Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I think that B version of 42009 is one of the best alternativ sets that Lego had ever made! Can't wait when 42009 will be available in Poland :) Quote
legolijntje Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 How many books has the 40009? And how many pages are there in each book? Quote
Anio Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 (edited) Therealjustin, now you may read the review of the mobile crane : http://www.techlug.f...us-kossman-2013 Edited June 9, 2013 by Anio Quote
merman Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 I always have to do the math with new Technic sets. With the crane I have about 2450 of the 2600 pieces. Should I buy a whole set for these 150 missing parts? But buying just some parts is always more expensive and besides: nothing beats a fresh new Technic set. I think 42009 has a record of 6 booklets! Matt The Tuba Guy Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 ooh, finally some black ones of these! Quote
Alasdair Ryan Posted June 9, 2013 Posted June 9, 2013 ooh, finally some black ones of these! Those will come in handy.... Quote
EyesOnly Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Oh so many pieces. 12 large gear racks, 5 16L axles and a 32L one plus a ton of other stuff. I'm so getting this set. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Anio, do you know why each stabilizer has 2 gear racks stacked on top of each other? Quote
Anio Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Anio, do you know why each stabilizer has 2 gear racks stacked on top of each other? The lower rack is used as a regular rack, with a 12t. The upper rack is actually just used as a beam. Quote
Jim Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Cool! Thanks a lot. Somehow the amount of parts in 42009 seems little haha My thoughts exactly. The number of bags and parts in the classic 8421 seemed more at the time. Quote
Matt The Tuba Guy Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 (edited) well there are nearly 1000 pins, including 500 of the short black ones! EDIT: I decided to count them! total = 2614 Pins = 959 axles = 300 bushes = 103 gears = 155 straight beams = 351 bent beams = 116 thin beams = 131 connectors = 316 bricks = 52 Technic bricks = 19 panels = 19 wheels/tyres = 33 other = 60 Edited June 10, 2013 by Matt The Tuba Guy Quote
designer-han Posted June 10, 2013 Posted June 10, 2013 Thanks for sharing the review and the pictures. I really wonder why TLC did not choose for the other version of the telescopic boom that we saw on early pictures. It appears that in that version the second section of the boom has 7 gear racks 1x4 instead of 2x5 parallel in the final version. Eg, it seams that in the other version the 2nd and 3rd section could each extend 6-7 studs more... As well the looks of the retracted booms is much better, eg as mentioned the final versions seams a little mis folded, and leaves clearly a lot of unused space between the end of the 2nd section and bottom of the first second. Very curious why TLC decided to do so.... Maybe the boom would become to heavy to lift when one first extended all sections?? And to avoid the internal clutch of the LAs to be addressed?? Quote
