allanp Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 Seems to work ok, it's a bit slow even for scale but it's nice to see all functions controlled from the same place. Quote
dhc6twinotter Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 (edited) The functions are a bit slow, but the motorized claw function looks really bad. I think a u-joint instead of the gears in the joint may solve the issue, although not 100% sure of that. Edited January 3, 2013 by dhc6twinotter Quote
allanp Posted January 3, 2013 Posted January 3, 2013 A uj would solve the jerking forward problem but I think it would cause alot of vibrations at that angle and even lock up. Quote

The angle would be quite a lot, especially with the boom all the way up. Maybe there would be a solution with two u-joints, but that would take some re-engineering. Quote

Blakbird Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Seems to work ok, it's a bit slow even for scale but it's nice to see all functions controlled from the same place. I just built it last night and actually think it works quite well. It is certainly much smoother than the 8043. The only reason the claw rotates when open or closed is that the linear actuator bottoms out and locks which causes the torque to transfer into rotation. As long as you don't bottom it out, there is no problem. Quote
Rishab N Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 @Blakbird How does the 42006 compare to the 9395 in terms of functionality and parts? Quote
Tkavan01 Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 Awesome, just got my 8043 today, the 42006 will be next Quote
Blakbird Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 How does the 42006 compare to the 9395 in terms of functionality and parts? Pretty hard to compare an excavator to a tow truck. I would say that 42006 is better for parts based on all the treads and actuators. It also has more functions and a better motorization option. 9395 has better wheels. Quote
Rishab N Posted January 4, 2013 Posted January 4, 2013 (edited) I don't know if anyone already posted this but I found someone on bricklink that made the F1 car rc using a servo and an l motor http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=519490 Never mind i'm just stupid for not reading the review Edited January 5, 2013 by Rishab N Quote
Zerobricks Posted January 5, 2013 Posted January 5, 2013 I think you could lessen the effect of the claw rotation when bottomed using different gears. Instead of 12 to 20 to 12 gear combo, which means that when bottomed a 12:20 gear ratio jerks the claw, you could use a 20 to 12 to 20 gear ratio, which would mean, there is faster rotation on the claw pivot, yet less torque to jerk it. R0Sch Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 I saw today the 42000 Grand Prix Racer and the 42007 Motocross Bike, as well as all other new 2013 sets, in a toy shop in Romania. I bought myself all 16 Series 9 CMF's and the 3 new SW Planets... For some reason, on their homepage, they don't show the Grand Prix Racer. http://www.varuna.ro/lego-seturi-de-constructie/technic/2 The 42000 was a heavy and thick box, a little shorter then the flag-ship Technic sets. It's price was 500 LEI meaning about 110 Euro. I don't know if I should wait a few weeks or buy it now. It had a little shelf wear and I'm kinda pretentious about these things. Does anybody know what the retail price for this set is? Quote

davidmull Posted January 7, 2013 Posted January 7, 2013 42006 still not in shops in Ireland can't understand why :( Quote
shadowhearth Posted January 8, 2013 Posted January 8, 2013 42006 still not in shops in Ireland can't understand why :( When there is anything in shops in Ireland when it comes to new tech or stuff like that! I was in Cork Smiths shop and their lego technic selection was legendary. 3 sets, all same helicopters!!! Even our local world of wonder had helicopter, pick up tow truck and lots of smaller technic sets! Our best bet is to order online m8. Quote
