Leo604 Posted December 28, 2013 Author Posted December 28, 2013 In my 3 leagues this year I went 2nd, 3rd, and 5th with the 5th place one me somehow losing 5 in a row to go 6-7 and get stuck in consolation. My biggest flaws were probably: 1. Drafting too many offensive weapons on a single team (in this case, the Falcons), only to find out that when Julio went down Ryan, Gonzalez, Steven Jackson, and Roddy White all became pretty much unreliable. 2. I drafted and held onto Tavon and Lamar Miller too long in my Yahoo league; eventually dumped them for better vets, but there was a point where I would've been able to maybe grab Alshon Jeffrey had I had extra space. And out of curiosity, do any Patriots fans here know what happened to their defense after their bye week? I know prior to Week 10/11 they were suffering from losing Talib, Mayo, and Wilfork but I thought the cracks really started showing the past few weeks. Quote
Off the wall Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 On one of my two championship teams, I had LeSean McCoy and the Pats defense last weekend. That pretty much made the difference. Quote
jluck Posted December 28, 2013 Posted December 28, 2013 I finished with a 4th place and a 5th place team, pretty forgettable year as far as fantasy goes. Hopefully, the bengals and colts can make up for it with a playoff run! Quote
eurotrash Posted December 29, 2013 Posted December 29, 2013 As a soccer-mad, English-expat living in very-rural Missouri and knowing only a little about the game I made it the playoffs in my Fantasy League. I squeaked through the semi-finals by a single point in a match that reached a combined 300 points and romped home to victory last week in the Superbowl thanks to the Buffalo defence (shut out the Dolphins). Against all odds I came in first and scooped the Pot! Unbelievable! Quote
Masked Builder Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Wow, some crazy action today. I really would have liked to watch a quite a few games in retrospect. Quote
Sisco Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 That's what NFL Redzone is for! Seven straight hours of football, no commercials, catch the scores on all the games. I got it about halfway through the season and I haven't looked back. Quote
Leo604 Posted December 30, 2013 Author Posted December 30, 2013 Extremely satisfying Week 17; hopefully Cincinnati wins next week and can move on for once. The game's at home so they should have that advantage. Quote
GandalfofHoth Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 (edited) Great game in Indy! The second biggest comeback in NFL playoff history, and that fumble recovery/touchdown is up their in funniest play this season, up with the last punt in the Patriot-Denver game. That was one of the best playoff games I've seen. Edited January 7, 2014 by GandalfofHoth Quote
Off the wall Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 I was in a restaurant watching the game. Chiefs had a four touchdown lead when we finished eating. Didn't even turn it on when I got home. What a surprise when I opened the online 'newspaper' this morning. As for Philly, it was the kind of ending that Philly fans deserve. Quote
Leo604 Posted January 5, 2014 Author Posted January 5, 2014 For the love of god, Cincinnati needs to win today. As for Philly, it was the kind of ending that Philly fans deserve. You mean the fact they lost or how they were playing in the loss? Quote
Off the wall Posted January 5, 2014 Posted January 5, 2014 The fact that they lost on the last play. I lived in Philly for a while. The fans are brutal. I can imagine it was an interesting walk to the parking lot after the game. Quote
jluck Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Cincinnati breaks my heart, they just looked miserable! I didn't clear up til I left and found CMF for the movie But honestly the bengals loss was brutal. Quote
Sisco Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 But honestly the bengals loss was brutal. Not nearly as brutal as the Chiefs loss. I'm still a hollow shell of a man after watching our defense piddle away a 28 point lead. Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Well, I'm 1-3 for picks this weekend. So much for being able to pick games... Looking forward to Colts @ Patriots though! Quote
Leo604 Posted January 6, 2014 Author Posted January 6, 2014 But honestly the bengals loss was brutal. Starting to have mixed feelings about Andy Dalton again; do you think they make next year the last straw for him? Quote
jluck Posted January 6, 2014 Posted January 6, 2014 Starting to have mixed feelings about Andy Dalton again; do you think they make next year the last straw for him? It's odd because some of his numbers look so good. He leads the bengals to three straight playoffs, sets a few records, and yet can't win the big game. I'm still lost on what to think about him, he may be another Palmer. Quote
Leo604 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Calling an Auburn win tonight. It's odd because some of his numbers look so good. He leads the bengals to three straight playoffs, sets a few records, and yet can't win the big game. I'm still lost on what to think about him, he may be another Palmer. I'd give him next year to prove himself, but draft somebody in the mid-rounds (preferably AJ McCarron) like Tampa Bay did with Freeman-Glennon. Dalton's sort of like Romo, just with less better receiving regular season stats. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 War eagle!! Auburn-FSU tonight who ya got? I think Auburn will wipe the floor with FSU. Quote
Sisco Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I've got Auburn. Their head coach is a former Arkansas State University head coach that completely turned the football program around, so as an Arkansas resident I feel obligated to root for Gus and his team. That, and I'd love to see the SEC dominance continue. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The SEC is just a ridiculous conference. I'm not a huge college football fan but my team if I really had one would be Boston College and I just can't cheer for another ACC team. Quote
Masked Builder Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Looks like I am through only one who picked FSU. At least I'm better at picking college football. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Yeah my pick turned out great. That was one hell of a game though, I really thought that auburn had it but I guess FSU just wanted it more. Back to the NFL on Saturday! Quote
Leo604 Posted January 8, 2014 Author Posted January 8, 2014 My picks for this weekend are probably Seattle, New England, Carolina, and Denver. Really rooting for Peyton to get a 2nd ring before he retires. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 My picks for this weekend are probably Seattle, New England, Carolina, and Denver. Really rooting for Peyton to get a 2nd ring before he retires. I have to agree with you except that I see the 49ers pulling off the upset in Carolina. And I also don't want to see Peyton win another ring...Pats fan Quote
Sisco Posted January 9, 2014 Posted January 9, 2014 Really rooting for Peyton to get a 2nd ring before he retires. As a Chiefs fan... I really respect Peyton Manning. He's a great guy and a great football player. His team has kicked my team's megablocks quite a few times under his leadership, but I still respect the guy. My picks for this weekend are Seattle, New England, San Francisco, and Denver. Quote
