Leo604 Posted August 31, 2013 Author Posted August 31, 2013 College football weekend! Anyone else planning to watch today? Quote
Masked Builder Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 I watched a bit yesterday. I'll admit I feel asleep a bit. Quote
tomdobs55 Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Was planning on doing fantasy but my ,computer broke. Sad day for me. Quote
eurotrash Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Just finished my draft. My first one ever and as an English ex-pat in the US I got a bit drunk tired and emotional and nearly selected Tebow. Lord knows who I've got in my team..... Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Can't wait for the season opener tomorrow night! Should be a really good match-up between the Ravens @ Broncos, especially considering how the O's being complete jerks about their shared stadium have forced the Ravens to open on the road... Hopefully I don't any more 1pt misses this year on my Proline Pools picks... (seriously, last year during Week 7, I was 1 freaking point away from winning about $5000!!! One. Stupid. Point! ) Quote
tomdobs55 Posted September 4, 2013 Posted September 4, 2013 Uggh that's not cool I wish my fiancee would let me gamble. Isn't the whole thing about the ravens opening on the road because of the Jewish holiday? Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 Uggh that's not cool I wish my fiancee would let me gamble. Isn't the whole thing about the ravens opening on the road because of the Jewish holiday? Apparently the Oriels Baseball team wouldn't change their night game to an afternoon game or move it to another day to accommodate the Raven's season opener, meaning the NFL had to schedual them elsewhere... and the league figured a re-match vs the Broncos would make for an epic event. AussieJimbo Posted September 5, 2013 Posted September 5, 2013 In Australia the game is on ONE from 10:30am AEST, following on from NFL Total Access at 9:30. Looking forward to the new season. :classic: Quote
Leo604 Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 I started Peyton last night. So happy right now. Quote
eurotrash Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 I started Peyton last night. So happy right now. That man's a robot... I got to pick tenth in my league and ended up with Cam Newton. I'm hoping for great things from him, but and here's a direct quote from Yahoo's Report Card on my drafted team: FC Eurotrash United knows this is American football, right? As a Soccer-mad English expat I'd say Yahoo was pretty astute, but they'll be sorry when my Fantasy Football team qualifies for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil Quote
Vindicare Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 (edited) All I can say is wow! Manning definitely shut up any nay sayers and speculation of another 2012. He came out swinging. Damn near 500 yards, 7 TDs-one of a few to do that- and Thomas with that 77 yard screen run. My Packers are up Sunday against the team that ruined their Super Bowl bid. Hopefully payback will be a b!tch. Edited September 6, 2013 by Legocrazy81 Quote

eurotrash Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 You didn't go with a running back in round 1? :o Marshawn Lynch was first pick. I drafted Newton in round #4. But remember Yahoo's Report card sussed me out and I have little idea what I'm doing... Quote

But remember Yahoo's Report card sussed me out and I have little idea what I'm doing... Ah my bad, I thought you meant 10th overall but what you said makes more sense. I'm not a big fan of Yahoo either; their analyses and projections are usually way off. I was supposed to go 3-something last year and ended up winning it all. Quote
Daenerys Targaryen Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Lolz @ the touchback play! And here I'd thought to game was pretty much over, but the Ravens managed to make it almost interesting... Then Payton took the field again! Quote
AussieJimbo Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Aussie viewers set your PVR's to ONE from 3am Monday (AEST): 03:00 to 06:00 Detroit Lions v Minnesota Vikings 06:15 to 09:25 Green Bay Packers v San Francisco 49ers <-- Looking forward to this one. :-) 10:20 to 13:30 Dallas Cowboys v New York Giants source: http://www.yourtv.com.au/guide/mon/fullday/ :classic: Quote
TomLego Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I have 48 Yahoo teams in fantasy. Just as an experiment, I let the computer draft them. The only change I made was to bench Gronkowski TE for New England because of his injury problem. I'm not going to look at any of the teams until the season is over. Does anyone think that a computer drafted team that's left alone for the entire season can win a championship? I'll let you know. I've played Yahoo fantasy football since its inception and just wanted to try something different this year. SixYahoo Ids and 8 teams per ID. Quote

But odds are you have to have at least one decent team. Quote
TomLego Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Tomdobs55 Well, I did look at the rosters. On one of the teams, the computer gave me the top ranked RB and the top ranked QB. I also know that Payton Manning was the QB on a few of them, so I know they got off to a good start. But, like I said, now that the season has started I won't be checking on them until the fantasy season is over. Besides, my real interest is in the BPL over in England. Stoke City rules!!!!!! HAAAAAAAAAAAAAA..... Quote

I didn't realize you had such pain and disappointment in your life. I'll send you a Get Well Soon card. Eurotrash (Chelsea-fan, although my home team was - gulp - Carlisle Utd) Quote
TomLego Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Well, I got fed up with all of the American pro sports leagues for a variety of reasons that I won't mention here. And, Monday night football from the BPL starts at 245 PM here in ATL so it gives me something to watch during the afternoon. Anyway, I chose Stoke because who can't like a team whose nickname is the 'Potters' and their sponsor is a gambling company? Wouldn't it be great if pro teams in the NFL, NBA and MLB could get relegated? Quote
eurotrash Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Wouldn't it be great if pro teams in the NFL, NBA and MLB could get relegated? The EPL and other Soccer leagues are tense throughout the season, but especially at the end when the Championship, qualifying for Europe, relegation and promotion are concerned. This is a conversation I have frequently at work and I think it's ironic that in the US of A that they have something as Socialist as closed-shop/oligarchy controlled sports conferences. I guess money talks. Compare that to the KC Chiefs (my home team here in Mo.). They had an abyssally terrible season last year and the were rewarded for it (by being able to draft the best placed College players). It's madness... Quote

They made some good moves though, obviously with the Alex Smith trade. Outside of getting Eric Fisher, I'm not overly excited about their draft class this year. EDIT: And reportedly, Bruno Mars is gonna be doing the halftime show for SB 48: http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/09/07/reports-bruno-mars-to-perform-at-super-bowl-xlviii/ Calling Treasure right now. I hope they have a better season than last year - but I've got a couple of six-pack bets on them not having a winning season (Yay! more beer for me). So, a better season, but not a good season please... Quote
TomLego Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I think the moderators should shut down any thread that degenerates into a discussion of Kansas City Chiefs football. HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. :-) Quote
