Would you like to see LEGO make a new theme titled 'SPACE CITY' that would be centered around small SPACE CITY modules built on 32x32 grey baseplates?

Each SPACE CITY module would include at least 1 baseplate and a SPACE CITY sub-theme module like a SPACE Fire Station, SPACE Police station, SPACE landing pad (airport), SPACE Miners (construction), SPACE fuel station (gas station), SPACE bio-dome (zoo and/or farm), SPACE Train, cargo transporter (trucks) and etc.

The airlocks part of the modules would be similar in size (and functionality) to the ones created by AFOLs but they would be made of large specialized pieces to cut costs.

In fact LEGO could create a space port set for their regular City theme so that regular City folks can travel back and forth to the new SPACE CITY.

good idea, but why limit yourself to just 32 x 32 plates? You could have a restaurant or other module that doesn't sit on any plate, but merely bridges two other modules. As long as the bigger modules have their airlocks all at a uniform place (i.e. the middle of the 32 x 32 plate) then bridge modules would work if they are the same length. There could also be just bridge parts to bring everything in line at the end, like how the old monorails had different length curves and straights to make everything mesh up well.

And the corresponding city spaceport is an excellent idea, I've been wanting one for awhile. But ditch the space shuttle design, the boosters and tank are way out of scale. I'd prefer a larger 6454 without the light and sound unit so it has a big interior.

A good idea, one I've never thought of despite much contemplation of a new city space port.

Now that has got to be the best moc idea I have seen in a while - I was wondering where to go with my next project (as I have recently disasembled all my futuron sets).

As a lego theme it would be great - though modularity would be the ultimate issue. It would also be great reason to see the return of the classic crater plates that I love so much and need more of.

It sounds an awfully lot like turning the moonbase fad into a theme. I like the idea, sorta. however keep in mind that with such large sets, each one will be well over the $100US mark. That would get expensive fast.

Personally, I'd just like the revival of the Classic Space theme. Is that too much to ask for? :'-(

My answer: YES

But only if:

- no catapults

- classicly constructed sets, not those fragile Exo-like constructions made from a few huge parts

- civic space theme

i agree

i think any city type themes would sell. i think TLG should make a futuristic, a historical, and a space city theme.

the future city theme would be something like simcity 3000, filled with hovercars and biodomes. it could be combined with the space as it's pretty much the same except the future city still has some greens in it. :-P and people probably don't need oxygen tanks.

the historical can be medieval so that it can also fit in with the "CASTLE" theme (the one involving evil skeletons). this way fans can choose themes and between peaceful or conflict based.

for eg, futuristic will fit in with EF in design. in the city theme, robots and humans live together and work together peacefully. the original EF theme will be conflict based where robots and humans annihilate each other.

similarly, the space theme involves aliens and humans building colonies together in domes. and the conflict based theme (which is currently MM) will be where aliens and humans exterminate each other.

medieval - likewise...except no ghouls or skeletons involved. :-P

what do you think? i mean if every theme is conflict based it becomes dull very quickly. and if every theme is peaceful it also becomes dull. even for EF, i like to know what the team is trying to protect. :-P

All that would happen is we'd get years worth of fire and police, hastily followed by everything else. Like, oh I don't know, regular city ;-)

But, yes, I would like to see 'Space City'.

A significant reason why I would like to see a peaceful SPACE CITY and maybe even a CASTLE TOWN because they can provide dual purposes. Besides their peaceful use they would also make great landscapes for the violent sets in which people could use them for battle scenerios if they so choose. Just as the current CITY sets could become landscapes for the more violent Batman sets.

YES!

I really don't like my base being consisting of only war buildings. I'd like to have some futuristic sets to house my troops, becuase unfortunately, I don't have enough grey/spacey parts to do it myself.

I actually made a few "space city" MOCs so I'd also like to see an official LEGO space city theme *y*

Here's an item(s) I made this morning before my kids woke up for Easter Sunday:

It would be better if LEGO could make a similar single SPACE COLONY for $14.99

1 Modular
