Endgame Posted April 3, 2013 Author Posted April 3, 2013 (edited) "...If you *wheeze* say so?" Round Fifteen Of The True Final Battle! >Punii mixes jellies: 6 is rolled: 40 10 damage to all enemies, disregarding SP! >Johon VS Dead Hand K (back): Damage (17/2=9 damage) >Galen VS dead Hand J (back): Hit Shield: Mug (10x3=30+17=47x2=94-3=91 damage, 9 gold earned) >Hal VS Dead Hand K (front): Damage (17 damage) >Sylph heals himself (front): Heal Heal (9+21=30 HP healed) >Galen VS Phantom Bleeding (back): Special Damage Special Damage (Blood frenzy!) >Elgar VS Vengeance Hand C (back): Special Damage Critical Hit (11x2=22+21=43x2=86-5=81 damage) >Alex VS The Regret (back): Hit Shield: Guardian Angel >The Regret spawns a hand: Dead Hand >Huddle: The Regret is Counterstriking! The true final battle continues! The round goes decently enough at its beginning, the party mowing down some dead hands and taking minor damage in the process. However, when Galen steps against The Bleeding, things go horrid. So easily dispatched the first time they had enocuntered him, the vampiric Progg was delighted by notions of revenge. His eyes glowing blood red, he pounces at the heroes and begins his assault. In a masterful dance of jabs and slashes, The Bleeding cuts open every hero with his dual corseques. Hal, furious from the enemies' applause the round previous, are too blinded by anger to defend themselves. They slump to the ground, unconcsious... As if detecting the misfortune that had befell them, Alex's Guardian Angel returned. A blinding beacon of lights hot out of a cavity in its chest, likely due to its impalement the last time it was summoned. QM Note: I realize things aren't exactly looking dandy, but with the angel up and The Regret's Soul on the ropes (killable in a single round) I just need two battle orders to autoroll the rest of this phase of the battle. The Regret's soul flickers, weary from the battle. Sylph fails to cast Fragile on the ethereal spirit the first time, but focuses and gets it right the second. Galen, his wrench in tow, lobs it at The Regret twice. The mead coursing through his veins enhances his attacks, allowing him to defeat the soul of The Regret with relative ease. The frosty island around them seems to twist and distort. The snow grew grainy and the mountains crumbled - the snowcapped trees blurred. The brilliant blue night sky flickered and stuttered, and all of the constellations in the nighty sky fell to shambles. The entire island rumbled as everything fell apart, splitting into pieces and being thrown away in the cruel winter wind. The heroes stagger about, trying to orient themselves in this crumbling reality. In one last burst of black light, the entire world seemed to shatter into shards of glass, pieces of the world drifting about in the void. All around them was the same pitch black they had entered in - what was happening? Did The Regret destroy the world in a last ditch attempt at vengeance? However, these horrifying thoughts are put to rest when the color fades back into the void, and the darkness dissipates. Rain slowly trickles down from the evening sky. The heroes inspect their surroundings, and find themselves on the roof of the town hall - the island was but an illusion! The illusion shattered, the party's gaze turns to The Regret and his corpse. His soul dives back into its body, reuniting in a flash of light. With his two parts once again as one, The Regret yawns and stretches out his arms. "Hm. Not too shabby, really - then again, I would expect no less from the heroes who fell Eidolon... You were able to provide me with a decent enough warm-up. Congratulations." The Regret serenely paces circles around the party. The heroes ready their weapons, unsure what to expect from the Progg... "After Prometheus perished, I didn't stay on the Lonely Island too long. I was there on occasion - with my new abilities, hexing a guard to let me out wasn't hard - but most of the time, I was only there to discuss affairs regarding the rebellion. The rest of my time I spent globe-trotting, exploring this wretched little rock. I explored from coast to coast, observed civilization after civilization, watched every continent known... I tried to remain covert, but alas, even I couldn't prevent the occasional glimpse. I eventually became embedded into culture, a boogeyman worldwide. You wouldn't believe all of the names I acquired... The Charissans dubbed me "La mort silencieuse"... The silent death. The terrachimans knew me as "noche cazador" - The night hunter. And, in some select clans in the north, I was known as "The Silver Phantom." The Terror, Mortuus, The Undying Shadow, The End, Despair, White Reaper... The list goes on and on. So many aliases, so many places, so many people. And yet... they were all the same. They all carried the disease, bent on murder and destruction. No where on Olegaia did I see a truly peaceful group of humanoids. Everywhere I went, the world was diseased by schisms, wars, divides, feuds, infighting... Everywhere I went, it was a different group of humanoids, all with different origins and cultures - and yet, it was always the same. I thought the disease was isolated, only inside the hearts of our slavemasters. And yet, having seen most of Olegaia, I was sadly proven otherwise. Thus, I must do what I must do. I am The Regret - the being who happiness was never meant to bless. The being who was, through his sorrows, meant to see the disease that ravaged our world... and end it. Kill the disease, and each and every creature that is and ever will carry it. Kill it all." The Regret stops suddenly in his pacing, and slowly turns to face the heroes. Tendrils of magic spiralled up and down his entire body, pulsating with his heartbeat. His eyes were narrow slits, blinding beacons of light, piercing the darkness that surrounded them on the rooftop. "When despair devours the heart and regret consumes the soul, it gives birth to an unfathomable power... a terrifying darkness, not limited by any worldly bounds. Such is what happened to me. Heh heh heh... Would you like to see it, heroes? Would you like to witness my two thousand years of regret, sorrow, hatred, despair... before I end your pitiful lives?" Fugazi Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 "You would make a poor doctor, Regret. You would kill the patient instead of trying to heal them. Perhaps if you tried to understand why there is so much conflict, violence and war you would see that more violence is not the solution. Maybe the Proggs look perfect to you because they don't fight among themselves -- but they're at war, and they spend their time inflicting pain and misery on others. Even then, you must have realised that the poisons we're using on you, the bombs that are thrown at you are made by your own people. Your own divided people, must I add. Proggs and humanoids are very much alike, for good and bad. You're just as diseased as we are." Quote

Endgame Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 The party and the monster before them stand atop the roof of the Luoshian town hall - atop the heart of Luosh. Rain continues to trickle down from the sky, quietly pittering down on the world below. The veil of stars was beginning to fade away - sunrise was near. "You have nothing I want! I would rather die standing tall than beg to my enemy for information or mercy." Elgar raises his crossbow and walks forward to face the regret The Regret gives a single chuckle before replying. "In the face of certain death, only a fool does not show the fear in his heart. What a fitting end for you, evoker child." "You would make a poor doctor, Regret. You're just as diseased as we are." "The purging will be indiscriminate. If a few of my children must die at their father's hands, then so be it." "Regret. I'm still kicking, no matter what the hell you've just done to me. Galen, prepare to toss me Combrys. Sylph, I have two Phoenix essences, hopefully they can be of use." The Regret speaks in mock disappointment. "Ahh, how unfortunate... I was looking forward to having a pet werewolf. Oh well." "I'm sure I will." Spoke Sylph patiently. "I believe the time for simply conversing is long since past - all of this banter, these meaningless warm-ups, so trivial. Let us get to the real showdown, shall we?" And with that simple statement, The Regret's entire body begins to thrum with dark magic. Purple markings now run up and down his every appendage, his carapace glowing a ghastly purple. With a spine-chilling laugh, The Regret does something unexpected: his two hands reach inside his face grid, each one clutching a bar... and with one swift motion, he splits his own carapace right down the middle! His shell splits with a bang, a corona of darkness erupting from the rupture. The being inside the split carapace was disgusting - like all other deshelled Proggs they have seen thus far, a black fleshy mass was inside the silver husk. Its veins pulsated shades of purple, ether pumping throughout his entire body. The party looks on in horror as the fleshy creature grows large and larger, The Regret's size going up exponentially. The shattered carapace grew with him too, expanding and segmenting into plates. The Regret bellows out maniacal laughter as the broken shell seems to grow sentient, slithering up his arm. Plates lock together, bones fuse, pieces of shell and carapace lock into place, and tendrils and barbs shoot out from The Regret... Bolts of ether shoot out from the shattered abomination as he reassembles himself. The party takes a few steps backwards in awe, silent at what The Regret had become... The beast had gone up in size, now even bigger then Rhodus, Aquos, and Eidolon. His silvery body transformed into this monstrosity, his entire being pulsating with pure power. He was a terrifying sight to behold, towering over all of the heroes. His tail almost seemed sentient, the four lethal spikes it was adorned it flexing in it out. His torso was covered in barbs of all shapes and sizes, all of them slowly moving. His entire body seemed to shift and rumble, a terrible abomination to behold. In place of a face grid he had two horrifying rows of gnashing teeth, the moonlight illuminating his razor-sharp fangs. Behind the teeth was two giant eyes, gazing out from the abyss inside the shell - as hard as the party tried to look into the beast, nothing was discernable. They stared into the abyss, and the abyss stared that. He carried a mighty Scepter, dark magicks pulsating in the top. The spikes it was covered in shifted and moved, as if alive...The Regret bellows out another round of horrible laughter. It seemed omnipresent, echoing around all of Luosh. His voice was just as eldritch as his body, containing thousands, if not millions of tones and emotions with it. The party can only gaze in terror at what their adversary had become. "HAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH! Behold, heroes! The despairs of my soul laid bare, shown to the world! Does the glimmer of hope still burn within your weak hearts? Does a notion of victory still linger in your your pathetic minds? Bear witness to both hatred and perfection incarnate - for they are the same. You will die with the honor of being annihilated by The Perfect Regret!" Quote

Dannylonglegs Posted April 4, 2013 Posted April 4, 2013 "Hatred is an illness. Nothing perfect can possess it. I fear that the only one who's going to be indiscriminately annihilated today is you." Stated Sylph with little emphasis. he seemed to be contemplating his next course of action. After some deliberation, he returned his gaze to the Regret. "let us finish this, abomination. Let's see who's ideals can be backed up by enough power to accomplish them. Shall we?" Quote
