(Doubles, you got lucky. ) Although Sylph plotted to lose a few members this round, whether or not this round of combat was better then planned is... debateably. Sylph manages to call up The Roots of Life, miraclously. Even with a lightning storm bellowing full force, the roots manage to weave their way from Dini's personal vegetable garden all the way up the tower! Once they finally reach the top of the belltower, they entangle the heroes nearly completely. The sapping the several thousand volts out of their body, they patch up the party's wounds and begin their long descent back down the tower. Invigoroated by the roots Alex stands against Eidolon, but the Emperor is none too pleased with Sylph's stunt. He swoops over and grabs Alex in his clutches - and proceeds to smash him, head first, into the bell half a dozen times! The sound of Alex's grunts and roars of pain are drowned out by the echoing clamor of the bell, an Alex-size impression left on it. Unconcious, Eidolon drops the paladin and flies back into his normal position. Alex crumples to the ground like a broken ragdoll, his limbs twisted in angles as blood leaks out of his skull... The round proceeds relatviely quietly after Alex's brutal beatdown. Eidolon laughs maniacally, this round being a victory for him. Hal shouts gravely over the whipping winds: "This is going nowhere, fast! We may be short on Meads, but don't we have something else that equates to the same thing...?" "Diiiiiing DOOOONG!" Hundreds of feet above the ground, the two forces - man and Progg - clash in a blur of blades and bolts of lightning. Sylph manages to soften up Eidolon's right hand, his scroll making the gauntlet far easier to penetrate. Sylph fails in his second reading but Elgar succeeds in confusing one of Eidolon's wings, the flight-enabling appendage flapping erratically. Galen revives Alex, the Paladin stumbling to his feet after Eidolon's savage beatdown. The red dust seemed to have mended his broken bones and closed his wounds, allowing Alex to fight on. Alex scores a monstrous hit on the Gauntlet as Johon attempts to lash out at Eidolon's tail. He leaves himself open for attack, but the tail stabs itself in its confusion! Eidolon curses, his body not responding to his commands as intended. The dark clouds above rumble and swirl as Eidolon seems to be drawing power, his body being bathed in an aura of electricity... Galen and Romulus hit the wings while Hal calls a daring charge from the front row. The party gang up on the gauntlet and leave some sizeable dents on it. With a snap of his fingers, Eidolon orders his troops below to open fire. Swooping out of his troops line of fire, a Progg Trojan below uses its tail as a catapult, chucking bomb after bomb on top of the tower. The belltower rumbles from the impact, the sturdy platform taking some damage from the grueling battle. The party huddles inside the bell to avoid the bomb's blasts, but still they take some damage from the pyrotechnic display. Charred from the explosions, the party exits the bell to see Eidolon ready for the next round... He mocks the heroes, but now with devastating skill to back up his words, they were far more menacing. "Have you given up hope yet? Or must I extinguish it, along with your pathetic lives? Heroes, there is no way, no scenario where you come out of this brawl victorious. I'll crush you so-called heroes just like every other person who has stood before me. My name will last eternally as the Emperor of Uland, heroes - and all that is left to do is to wipe you off of the face of Olegaia!" "I don't like the looks of what *wheeze* Eidolon is planning... The battle rages on, the entire party wary of the massive burst of electricity Eidolon had in store. They had a relatively good round, dishing out damage at a steady pace. Alex's Guardian Angel was now extra protective of the Paladi after his previous knock-out and swoops in to join the brawl. The sihouette of radiant light hovers above the party, preparing to safeguard the party next round. Unfortunately, it wouldn't be ready by the time Eidolon unleashed his fury. At the round's end, Eidolon laughs maniacally. He had been taking damage, but at the current moment it mattered not to him. He locks his arms into a cross in front of his face, huge strands of lightning coursing acorss his entire party. With an unearthly roar he spreads his arms out. The sky trembles as he perfroms the motion, and almost instantly a massive bolt of lightning shoots through the sky, hitting the party dead on. The party is floored by the sudden bolt from above, most of them knocked right off their feet. Romulus fails to get up, that bolt of electricity proving just enough to knock him out cold, Eidolon slashes at the air, his sharp claws leaving visible rends in the sky. The meaning of the gesture was clear: "Come" "Ahh... venting a little bit of anger always soothes the soul. Wouldn't you agree?" Stripped of his wands, he wasn't nearly as powerful as usual. Practically defenseless, Dini paces around the pillar he was tied to, quickly losing count. For the first time in a long while he was actually afraid, an emotion the powerful sorcerer usually didn't experience. Having paced more circles around the room then he could count, Howard's routine is suddenly interrupted when he feels a rush of wind behind behind him. Whirling around, he exclaims: "Ah-ha, fiend! I hav-" Howard stills his tongue when he realizes he is talking to a young girl. "Hewwo!" Dini is taken aback by the young girl's sudden appearance, though it atleast appeared she was somehow happy . "Ohhh, drat. Hunger hallucinations..." Howard blinks a few times and waves his palm in front of eyes, but the smiling girl doesn't disappear. Accepting the young child was reality, Hal lowers to her level and asks her: "Hello there young one, what is your name? How in the world did you get in here? This is a very dangerous place... I don't want anyone to be harmed more then they have been already tonight." Howard's eyes shift to the door the party had exited to, but quickly refocus on the young spellslinger as he awaits an answer. Edited March 10, 2013 by Endgame Quote
