Dannylonglegs Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) QM Note: Pun intended? I know RTA and LTA are the tentacles, but is TT Tentacled Terror? What good will healing do? Also, Alex's shield is taken into account on the counter-strike, as is row. Hopefully these last few battles you broke out the pen and sapper. OOC: Of Course. Correct, sorry if my abbreviations are hard to understand. I was going to make it an offensive joke, but nobody wants that. What good'll healing it do? Well, he is being targeted. I know. I can't have my SP avoided burning out too quickly though. Why waste his health now, when we could take him together later when he's down on SP and arms? And yes. Now I start with it off the bat though. I love P and Ps! Edited January 1, 2013 by Dannylonglegs Quote

Fugazi Posted January 1, 2013 Posted January 1, 2013 OoC: Sorry to have missed the exciting intro leading to this battle! Happy New Year! Galen didn't utter a single word while the party was discussing with Aquos. He remembered their previous encounter with the filthy beast -- Beatrice's dark egg, and his own life almost taken in one cruel blow. Galen had no pity in him for the blind monster. He deserved war worse than simply being blind. He deserved immediate death for what he had done and what he still planned to do. Galen would like to prepare for battle by taking Smelling Salts, Nostrum and Mead if it's still possible to do it. Otherwise he would like to use the first round to take a Nostrum. Quote

Endgame Posted January 1, 2013 Author Posted January 1, 2013 (edited) Round One of the Battle With The Tentacled Terror >Punii acts like a good little hostage: unfortunate success! >Alex VS Right Tentacle A (front): Special Damage Miss >Sylph consumes Smelling Salts (back) >Sylph heals Tentacled Terror (back): No heal Lesser Heal (19 HP healed) >Elgar VS Left Tentacle A (back): Damage Hit (11x2=22+20=42x2=84-2=82 damage) >Lycan VS Left Tentacle A (front): Special Damage Special Damage (Rock Spike: -4 ether to aquos, 9 damage to entire party disregarding SP) >Galen chugs Smelling Salts (back) >Galen consumes a Nostrum (back) >Johon VS Right Tentacle A (front): Damage (18-6=12 damage) The battle with the gargantuan beast begins. Aquos's impromptu method of seeing provides a soundtrack for the battle, his tail and tentacles rhymthically tapping to a beat. Punii is tired from his previous struggle, panting and wheezing. Alex swings at the beast's right tentacle, but the slimy appendage moves out of the way. Sylph takes a whiff of some smelling salts, the aroma going straight up his noise and hastening him. Sylph heals Aquos, his healing baffling Aquos for just long enough to prevent a free hit. Elgar conjures up a ball of ice and flings it at one of the tentacles, the aquatic arm having a slight spasm in response to the cold. Lycan drives one of the tentacles into conjuring up a rock spike. With a theatrical wave of one of his tentacles huge spires of rock arise from the ground beneath each hero, nearly impaling them. Galen prepres himself for the oncoming onslaught of a battle, watching in horror as Johon gets slapped. The 2 tentacles dive back into the water... and 4 fresh ones emerge. They clap above Aquos in a far more snister tempo, the beast's power practically doubling. "This will be over before long." Aquos, Level 28 Beast *Counterstriking!* HP: 1100/1100 SP: 24 Ether: 26/30 Specials: 1-2: Tentacle Lash: Does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage. The heroes above and below him in the battle order take 14 damage. 3-4: Ruckus: The sound of Aquos's tentacles clapping shakes loose some stalagmites, causing them to fall on top of the party. All heroes take 11 damage, disregarding SP. 5-6: Rhythmic Rampage: Grabs the hero who rolled Special Damage with his tentacles and slams him into all of his party members. The entire party (including the hero who rolled Special Damage) takes damage equal to that Party Member's power. 7-8: Catastrophe Cacophony: Nullifies all of the party's positive effects, and does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage. 0: Tail Swing: With a swing of his monstrous tail, Aquos does 18 damage to the entire party. Every party member has a 1/2 chance of being stunned for one round. (Can be remedied or removed for 5 ether.) Note: Aquos's specials are not randomized! The numbers before each special is how many tentacles Aquos must have up for him to use it. For example, if he has 5 tentacles revealed, he will always use Rhythmic Rampage. The party's pride swells at the sight of their grogmas gifts, but will it be their undoing? Alex enchants his blade while Sylph heals Aquos, confusing him further. taking advantage of this brief bafflement, Sylph sinks an arrow into one of the prince's tentacles. Elgar gets mugged while draing his bow, the tentacle stealing some gold then jabbing into his stomache. Galen takes a mead in preparation then lashes out at one of the tentacles, the tentacle recoling after being whipped by Galen. Lycan shoves a nostrum down Johon's throat, but it doesn't seem to do much good, as the Raider is quickly smacked back by one of aquos's more burly tentacles. Two tentacles go back into the water... only 4 more of them to emerge! One of them holds a struggling Punii. 2 tentacles look larger then the others, the most formidable of the bunch. Endgame Posted January 2, 2013 Author Posted January 2, 2013 QM Note: I fixed a typo regarding the use of Aquos's "0" special, Tail Swing: if he has no tentacles up, he will use it. Not all 8 tentacles have to be killed for him to use it. Round Three of the Battle With The Tentacled Terror >Punii whimpers softly, about to cry >Sylph heals Aquos (back): No heal Heal >Alex VS Left Tentacle C (front): Special Damage Critical Hit (10x2=20+17=38 damage, Badly Poisoned transferred) >Galen VS Right Tentacle C (back): Shield Shield: Mug (10x3=30+15=45x2=90/2=45-2=43 damage, 43 gold earned) >Sylph heals Johon (back): No heal Lesser Heal (19 HP healed) >Galen VS Hostage Tentacle (back): Miss Hit (10+15=25x2=50/2=25-3=22 damage) >Lycan VS Right Tentacle A (back): Critical Hit Shield: Mug (14x3=42+12=54X2=108/2=54-2=52 damage, 52 gold earned, Badly Poisoned transferred) >Elgar VS Left Tentacle A (back): Hit Critical Hit (11x2=22+20=42x2=84-2=82 damage) >Johon VS Big tentacle (front): Damage Damage (23-6=17 damage) the battle rages on. The group's luck increases exponentially against the 8-armed Aquos, slashing and stabbing at his slimy tentacles. After recieving a harsh ball of ice from Elgar, Aquos goes into a tranquil rages. Smashing one of his larger tentacles into Johon's head, all 6 tentacles go underwater... only for all 8 to come out! Aquos was now at his most powerful, his clapping shaking the entire grotto and forcing the party to cover their ears - one misstep and the party's fate may be sealed at this crucial stage. "Die, all of you!" Aquos, Level 28 Beast *Counterstriking!* HP: 1100/1100 SP: 24 Ether: 26/30 Specials: 1-2: Tentacle Lash: Does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage. He will only ever use Tail Swing when he has no tentacle revealed. Passive Specials: Tentacle Guard: As long as Aquos has 1 tentacle up, he will be counterstriking. Ethereal Immunity: Aquos is immune to all scrolls. SP Constant: Aquos's SP can only be lowered by destroying his tentacles, and nothing else. Each tentacle destroyed drops his SP by 2. Hanging on a Thread: Aquos can have a minimum of 1 HP when he still has tentacles active! All of his tentacles must be destroyed before Aquos himself can be. When Aquos dies, the battle is won. Drops: Peculiar Egg, Garnet Left Tentacle A, Level 18 Beast HP: 86/250 SP: 2 Specials: Musical Mugging: Perfectly aligned with the beat, the tentacle slaps the hero who rolled special damage, stealing gold and doing damage equal to the hero's WP + SP. Immune to Blindness and Sleep! Drops: 30 gold, potion. Note: When defeated, does an automatic 45 damage to Aquos and drops his SP by 2. The hero who rolled Special Damage has their SP granting items overheat from the blast, disabling their SP for the rest of the round and 2 after. (Unremediable and unremoavable.) Rockslide: Uses 6 of Aquos's ether to generate a mighty rock slide, doing 13 damage to the entire party, disregarding SP. if no ether left, defaults to Kablammo. Specials decided by dice roll. Immune to Venoms, Blindness, and Sealing! Drops: Punii (usable the turn after he is freed), 60 gold QM Note: Aquos has 8 different tentacles, and every round, he will raise different ones. It works off a cycle, a repeating pattern: if you can figure out which tentacles appear when, you will be able to strategize far more efficiently.
