Round Eleven of the Battle With The Tentacled Terror

>Punii asks Sylph what "dice" are.

>Sylph heals Aquos (back): No heal Lesser Heal (19 HP healed)

The battle rages on, Sylph healing both Elgar and himself. The druid's ether supply was most certainly finite, and it was dwindling every passing second... The heroes revive each other and destory the big tentacle. The Hostage Tentacle throttles Elgar one last time before sinking into the abyss-like water, not to be seen again for another few rounds. Aquos's tail thumps with a breakneck tempo, Aquos closing his dead eyes to focus on the puzzle of sound that was forming.

Specials:

1-2: Tentacle Lash: Does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage. The heroes above and below him in the battle order take 14 damage.

3-4: Ruckus: The sound of Aquos's tentacles clapping shakes loose some stalagmites, causing them to fall on top of the party. All heroes take 11 damage, disregarding SP.

5-6: Rhythmic Rampage: Grabs the hero who rolled Special Damage with his tentacles and slams him into all of his party members. The entire party (including the hero who rolled Special Damage) takes damage equal to that Party Member's power.

7-8: Catastrophe Cacophony: Nullifies all of the party's positive effects, and does 28 damage to the hero who rolled Special Damage.

0: Tail Swing: With a swing of his monstrous tail, Aquos does 18 damage to the entire party. Every party member has a 1/2 chance of being stunned for one round. (Can be remedied or removed for 5 ether.)

Note: Aquos's specials are not randomized! The numbers before each special is how many tentacles Aquos must have up for him to use it. For example, if he has 5 tentacles revealed, he will always use Rhythmic Rampage. He will only ever use Tail Swing when he has no tentacle revealed.

Passive Specials:

Tentacle Guard: As long as Aquos has 1 tentacle up, he will be counterstriking.

Ethereal Immunity: Aquos is immune to all scrolls.

SP Constant: Aquos's SP can only be lowered by destroying his tentacles, and nothing else. Each tentacle destroyed drops his SP by 2.

Hanging on a Thread: Aquos can have a minimum of 1 HP when he still has tentacles active! All of his tentacles must be destroyed before Aquos himself can be. When Aquos dies, the battle is won.

QM Note: Aquos has 8 different tentacles, and every round, he will raise different ones. It works off a cycle, a repeating pattern: if you can figure out which tentacles appear when, you will be able to strategize far more efficiently.

"ha ha ha ha! Yes Alex, do so! Elgar, why don't you go ahead and use that large rod you've got. It should only effect him, as he's the only enemy on the table. Johon, I want you to target him too. victory always tastes sweeter with a dash of decay. With no tentacles up, Aqua-whatever isn't counter-striking, a fact that I hadn't realized last time he was unarmed. Still, if we engage in a full-on assault, those of us who are not lucky (and those who are.) have an increased chance of tripping his tail. Only Johon and Alex should engage him in such a manner. We're running out of luck and phoenix essences. However, if we play our cards right, I may not need to heal Aguor again."

And there's only one enemy out now. :wink: I took that into consideration, but I'd like to see if Endgame agrees with my analysis before settling on the plan.

The brillaint light emanating from the angel illuminates the cavern. By the rounds end, after several battles without a single summon, Elgar finally musters his power. Foucsing on his frigid Opal, snow begins to emit from the gem... the flakes of the fluffy snow condense into amalgam of icy mist and frost, known as Sir Slush. He awaits Elgar's orders, eager to attack.

Aquos's final tentacle rises from the watery depths, weary after its previous beating. The party still knew that one misstep could be potentially fatal...

The party, with Alexandre's guardian angel looming over them, all rush forth at the one-tentacled foe. The last tentacle proves to be as wily as ever, swerving out of the way of both Lycan and Galen's hits. Sylph fires an arrow at the tentacle, pinning it down. Elgar's summon rushes in, crushing the tentacle with its icy mass. The slimy appendage jolts upwards in pain then detaches from its master, the amputated limb sill writhing and squirming in agony in front of the heroes. The heroes all proceed to bombard Aquops with a flurry of slices and stabs, doing heavy damage to the beast during this prime oppurunity. Aquos, knowing that Johon was the one who landed the killing blow on his beloved brother, raises his tail up. The razor-sharp tail lunges at Johon, but the Angel grabs it. A sturggle occurs between the two forces, but ultimately the angle is the winner: the divine being twists the beast's tail away. Alex scores one last cut on Aquos, his armor-defying sword leaving a gash on the side of Aquos's face. Aquos turns his attention to the angel, still somehow looming over the confident party. With a mighty swing of the tail, much to the heroes' surprise, Aquos doesn't aim for them... but the angel. The divine being of light simply didn't anticipate the blow and recieves a powerful bludgeon to the side, courtesy of Aquos's tail. Clutching where Aquos had hit him and rearing backwards, the angel vanishes. T he party stands awestruck at the sight - Aquos had succesfully landed a hit a guardian angel! Aquos laughs - the heroes had hacked off all of the prince's arms, but they knew the battle wasn't over yet: Aquos himself remained a threat.
