Endgame Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 (edited) Following Romulus's heed, the party decides to take both the most logical and most illogcial path: ...Backwards? Walking back from where they came, the party once again becomes enveloped in a crypitc smoke. When they escape from the engulfing fog, they find... That they had progressed! The party unaminously agrees that should NOT have worked. Edited January 20, 2013 by Endgame Quote

Endgame Posted January 19, 2013 Author Posted January 19, 2013 Romulus gazes into the water, but can't discern what is in it - despite being able to see his reflection quite clearly. I remember a part where you had to progress through the maze using some mathematical pattern. Johon climbs the vines to see what the maze looks like from the top, being careful in case this would cause some harmful event towards him or the party. Quote

Thank goodness. Johon, the torrential rain pounding on his faces, faces the foliage covered wall. Note the fact I just edited in the rain, my mistake. Gripping the slippery, waterlogged vines, Johon manages to ascend up a little bit, glancing up just above the stone wall. To the left he can see a small statue sitting alone, and a larger statue blocking a path. At this altitude, Johon could also make out the faint sound of wings flapping... and... static...? QM Note: These woods are too insane to be based on something as coherent as math. Edited January 20, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Bricksandparts Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 OoC: No, the tunnels path made no sense realistically, similar to the previous section. "I don't like the sound of this. Static isn't something you hear everyday, though nothing in this maze is something you see everyday either. Still, static bothers me." Johon, doubting that his QMs will ever allow the compass to work correctly, checks his magic compass. Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Johon's compass twirls seemingly randomly - however, a pattern soon emerges. It first seems to point ,left, then right, alternating between the two directions. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "Hmmmmmm." muttered Sylph, finally online voicing his opinion upon seeing Johon's compass. "Should we go Left then?" He knelt down and rubbed the base of the tree sympathetically. "I fear that this forest is insane, the trees are as confused as we are..." Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 (edited) The party, the rain cascading them from above, heads left. Two large trees and one small stand, a statue of a indistinguishable figure standing solemnly. Edited January 20, 2013 by Endgame Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "This is why I have a staff." Stated Sylph, referring to the long stick strapped to his back on which he carried his pot filled with herbs. He drew the staff and removed his pot, taking it in his gloved hand. "I'm always cautious." He said, and prodded the statue with his stick. "And I've never liked statues." Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Haste makes waste, but fortunately this statue didn't seem to have any tricks up its stony sleeves. Sylph pokes and prods it with his staff, the statue not reacting in the slightest. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "Hmm. Well, no harm in trying." mumbled Sylph as he returned his pot to the crook at the top of his staff, and his staff to its place on his back. He looked around to see what directions the could go. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 Johon checks to see if the statue has any facial features, if he is particularly tall, or thin. Johon takes out a torch, lights it, and holds it up to get a better view of the surroundings. Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Johon looks up and town the statue: it was of average height, anatomically was of average weight, of average proportions, and lacked any sort of facial expressions whatsoever. Using the lit torch, Johon and Sylph look around. The forest was eerily serene, practically unmoving besides the natural sway of the plants. An air of mysticality hangs above them, a feeling of mystery and confusion embodying the entire forest. Would the heroes ever make it to the Dini manor? The forest had proven tricky thus far, and it was getting more and more peculiar by the second... There appeared to be no other paths leading off of this area; they could only head back to the miniature pond area. Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "Let's return to the room with the pond. Perhaps when we get there we can go right. But maybe it won't be there by the time we get back." groaned Sylph. Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 The party, still being bombarded with the torrential downpour, heads back to the pond room... thankful that it was, in fact, still there. Heading right, the party finds... A huge, flora covered rock ridge stands in front of the part. A massive statue stands sotically, as featureless as the one saw previously. The sounds of wings overhead continue, and Sylph can tell it wasn't a bird flying about... Quote
Dannylonglegs Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "Hmm. Perfect." grunted Sylph half-sarcastically. He prodded the statue with his Staff. "We may have to climb this one." He stated as he poked it. Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 Once again, the satue seems to be just like its younger cousin, merely bigger. However, this one seemed to be blocking the way forward - it was too heavy to push, and to slippery from the rain to climb. Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 20, 2013 Posted January 20, 2013 "Hmm.. maybe we could go back to the small statue? If it's possible to push over here, maybe we could climb on that one, and then climb onto the taller one. It should be easier.," Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 "Hmm.. maybe we could go back to the small statue? If it's possible to push over here, maybe we could climb on that one, and then climb onto the taller one. It should be easier.," Hal rubs his chin in thought. "Hmm... I'm not the sharpest knife in the drawer when it comes to brainteasers like this. I'll admit that much. However, it seems odd to have a smaller statue in the middle of nowhere... and a larger version of it blocking a path. I think you're on the right track about pushing, though... perhaps the statues are connected in some way?" Quote
Endgame Posted January 20, 2013 Author Posted January 20, 2013 The party heads back to the left room, with the intent of moving it. The party pushes the smaller statue to the right, hearing a much louder rumbling sound to the right. Suddenly, the smaller statue locks up, and its weight seems to go up exponentially... The party groans and moans as they try to push the smaller statue, now completely unable of moving it an inch to the right. It seems to move left just fine, however. What will the party do? Quote
