TheBoyWonder Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 "Nothing is permanent. Not Life, Not Death, both can be reversed. Not love, Not hatred, both will always be extinguished. Not Innocence, nor guilt. Not Justice, not injustice. Not Peace, Not War. Not fear, not anger. Not hope. You see? Nothing lasts forever, not even the strongest dynasty, the widest web of deceit, not the highest mountain. Everything crumbles in time. " Quote
Endgame Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 (edited) "First of all, such childish vulgarities are not a way to address your soon-to-be ruler, you little brat. Second of all, you do it so you don't ruin what does have a chance to last forever. That is a poor analogy, because you're attempting to relate a bodily function to suffering and roll of crushed papyrus reeds to happiness. The two have no bearing. Hah! Let us see about that, you lycanthropic insect. My reign will be a glorious one, that I can assure you. I'm surprised Uland isn't welcoming its new ruler already - perhaps they are just too idiotic to realize what good will come under my rule. They will all be finally be put out of their petty miseries, they will receive atonement for their vile actions in the past. They deserve death, relentless, remorseless death... All of them! All of them, such fools, creating a being so much better then all others, only to cast that being as their slaves! The oppression of my people shall end, and the oppression of theirs will begin! It'll be wonderful! Surely you can see the benefits - no longer will various powers struggle and toil to fulfill their greedy desires. All will be united under one rule... mine, of course. Oh, it shall be amazing! As close to perfection as one can get. A unified Uland is a progressing Uland - right now, in all of your petty squabbles and pathetic, you have stalemated. Become unable to move forward, so utterly absorbed by your own selfish goals to do anything meaningful. My rule will change that. Can't you see how much better it'll all be?" TheBoyWonder Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 "You don't understand Eidolon. Humanity will last for eons. Far longer than you or I. Humans will have ups and downs, times of strife. But they will rise like a Phoenix out of the ashes. Humans are resilient, very few other species can survive in such a wide variety of places. " Romulus smirks. "No matter what you do, Humanity will last." Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 OOC: "Poor analogy? Hmm... I thought for something your size that a certain bodily function would be suffering." "Sire, I am sorry your mightyness. Please formally forgive me, my lord, for communicating to you oh so wise one, in the most incorrect and inappropriate way, your majesty." "Anyways, a page back you said suffering is infinite, unfortunately. Does that mean you regret what you've done?" Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 "Suffering is not infinite. Suffering does not define you. It is your actions that define you." Quote
Endgame Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 "I will address you first, werewolf. Suffering is not infinite? Suffering is not infinite?! You are more blind then Aquos ever was! You come from Eubric, for Mythrogg's sake! It is a wretched hive of scum and villainy, being held together by what? 6 squabbling families and a greedy band of petty thieves? Suffering runs rampant in that city, even Eubric's protecotr, Heroica, being corrupted by the second. Even you heroes are broken and twisted souls... You, Sylph, are as "odd" as I - Aquos himself told me this. You, Romulus, are a werewolf, a being cursed to be in a constant limbo between man and unruly beast. Johon, my brother murdered your parents - Galen, your sister vanished. Elgar, Alex, Hal I'm sure you have some skeletons in the closet. The despicable yellow shrimp you tote around has been abandoned and neglected... despite being a mere 2 months old. Do you get it yet? Suffering is a part of us they can and never will die. We can mask it with happiness all we like, but the mask will always slip inevitably. Those who learn to not mask their suffering - and, instead, utilize it - come out on top. Those who learn not to dwell on what they've done, but plan on what they are going to do, are all the more powerful. He who uses suffering as a tool and not an enemy is the greater man. And you, paladin. I seem to recall you being terrified just earlier." Eidolon suddenly shoots a bolt directly at Alex's feet, the paladin yelping and jumping back. "You were right to fear me. Please start fearing me again, for your own personal safety." Quote
TheBoyWonder Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 "First things first. The Wolfgang are not petty thieves. Secondly, I'd rather be in Limbo than a freak made of ether. And how can suffering be infinite when everything has an end?" Quote
Capt.JohnPaul Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Alexandre jumps back. "Eh? Oh yes, I was terrified. Sorry, sometimes I get carried away in these word games and debates." "Anyways, aren't you proggs doing this for revenge or something for being enslaved? That means you are trying to bring happiness to your people/progss. But you just said there is no point for happiness. Did I miss something?" Quote
Endgame Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 (edited) "To an extent it is revenge, yes. I am doing to to cause them suffering, not to give me happiness. Unfortunately, some people value the price of happiness too high, and can't stand a single bit of suffering. Although, I probably will derive a bit of sadistic amusement from the act, though that is merely a bonus." Edited January 21, 2013 by Endgame Quote

Fugazi Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Galen didn't really pay attention to the 'emperor's' ramblings. Arguing with him was as pointless as had been arguing with any of the previous mad Progg leaders they had met so far. Besides, what was the Progg trying to accomplish? Convince them that they should give up fighting, just so that they would be slain more easily? If that was Eidolon's intention, it meant that he wasn't invincible and that he would rather use cunning than fight the heroes. Then something caught his attention. The abomination mentioned his sister. "Eidolon, what do you know about Brianna's disappearance?" It was a long shot, but he had spent two years already fruitlessly searching for her. Something told him that Eidolon was only reading his mind, but perhaps... just perhaps he might be holding off something else. Quote
Endgame Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 "I received the quote-by-quote of the torture session from Rhodus. You mentioned your sister. Besides that, I don't know where the fragile little wench vanished off to - that is a question for Prometheus, not I. I'm sure he would put you in connection with her or at least check if she was dead... if you paid the right price, that is. Heh heh heh..." QM Note: If JMB doesn't post within the next few hours, I'll move this along. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 "Eidolon, this conversation is nice, but what is the main goal here? To scare us? To try and stop us from attacking? To try and justify your means?" Quote
Endgame Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 "Remedy some boredom, spread some fear, kill some time, evaluate you, you know, the usual." Eidolon yawns. Quote
Bricksandparts Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 "Just wondering, how do you use your electricity? It is quite interesting, I must admit." Quote
Endgame Posted January 21, 2013 Author Posted January 21, 2013 "Now, now Johon. You should know that saying that is merely an invitation to deep roast you like I did to your leader. You should know better then that." Ediolon speaks in a mock parent voice, an attempt to infuriate Johon. "Ether, mostly." With that, Eidolon does the same thing he did to Alex, sending a crackling coil foe elctricty at Johon. he ducks, looking up in awe as the electricity whizzed over his head. "For the record, I'm not actually aiming here." Quote

Galen couldn't remember most of that, the whole thing was but a hazy blur now. He might have mentioned her, for sure. "The Regret? I see... Um, thanks for the tip, I suppose. I will keep this in mind." Galen cast a sideways look at his companions. All were a bit pale, but no one was panicking. Brave men, all of them. He raised his eyebrows at Sylph, hoping that he would get the hint. Are we attacking? Quote
Bricksandparts Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Johon chuckles, realizing that at this electricity was fully controlled by Eidolon, it was not conductive towards them. Quote

Perhaps I should clarify my stance a tad - I see no reason to spread happiness, to give it to others, when it is just going to go away. I'm quite alright making myself happy. I just know not to value it, to make it a priority - because, inevitably, it is going to go away." Edited January 21, 2013 by Endgame Quote

Like I said earlier, my daft puny little beasts, I have an agenda to adhere to, and i won't have you things getting in the way of it. The Era of Eidolon is nigh, and you should be welcoming it!" QM Note: probably going to move this along in 30 minutes, that should be enough to for JMB to respond if he needs to: he is online and in the Heroica RPG subforum, after all. Quote
