November 8, 201212 yr Author Good news, today I´ve received the last parts, so I can start building the truck with new steering system. Pics will follow then. Greetz Markus
November 8, 201212 yr Nice creations! The form and colorscheme made me think of the RV vehicle in the old TV-series "Ark II" from 1976. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0127989/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ark_II http://www.angelfire.com/tv2/ark2/blueprints.html But as you see of the pictures, the Ark was a 6 wheeled vehicle.
November 9, 201212 yr Author Nice creations! The form and colorscheme made me think of the RV vehicle in the old TV-series "Ark II" from 1976. Haha, that´s true, really looks a bit like as RV Was not intentional. Ok, after a long night i´ve got the first results.... I´m not finished the chassis, but I was able to test the steering and drive speed (4x4 atm). Driving speed seems a bit to fast, but I´ll try another gear ratio at the portals with 8 tooth gear or another ratio at the motor. Steering: Works perfect. Very tight and precisely. Steering could maybe faster but ratio between motor and linear actuator is already 1:1 and i didn´t want to make it higher by the loose of torque. Building the chassis was a little bit more comlicated with the linear actuators, but all in all it´s possible Was to late to get the pics online this morning, so i will show later. November 9, 201212 yr Author Ok, part 3.... I think I´ve finished the truck. Here are the pics. I use a LEGO wire extension for the back motor. I like the skull http://youtu.be/bmChYUL_g-o If I found the time these days, i will go into the "wild" for testing. Greetz Markus Edited November 9, 201212 yr by MarkusOSX
November 10, 201212 yr @ MarkusOSX: Your Lego Technic 8x8 Trial Truck looks great! Yes, you should take it to the grunewald to test it out on the dirt!
November 10, 201212 yr Author thx DLuders I live in Germany "Schwarzwald" (Back Forest)' so there's a perfect terrain to test. But atm it's raining too much.... Greetz Markus
November 18, 201212 yr Author Back again Ok, i decided to use the knob wheels. Surprisely they run very smooth. My little daughter made the first "Trialtest" for me http://youtu.be/b6Bq7fRZk8s Seems to work well so far... Greetz Markus Little meeting... Edited November 19, 201212 yr by MarkusOSX
November 18, 201212 yr @ MarkusOSX: Are you going to give the 8x8 to your daughter for Christmas? You may have to get your own toy!
November 22, 201212 yr Author thx @ WilrickB & Feradin for the compliments. We´ll see how it will work in the wild Greetz Markus Edited November 22, 201212 yr by MarkusOSX
December 14, 201212 yr Very impressive looking MOC! Have you set it loose in the wild yet? Very curious how it performs. Thinking of building it myself Edited December 14, 201212 yr by jantjeuh
December 14, 201212 yr Author I´m sorry, but atm I sadly don´t have the time to go into the wild and there´s too much snow out there Think it will take some time to get outside to test it. Greetz Markus
December 30, 201212 yr Author Hi there, no i wasn´t in the wild meanwhile ... But i´ve tried a new chassis setup with LDD. As you can see there is a XL-Motor for every axle, so it will need two battery boxes then. I´m not really sure if this will work fine. Just playing around a little bit, inspired by the 4x4 from Lego. What do you think about it ? Greetz Markus Edited December 30, 201212 yr by MarkusOSX
