Santaduckz Posted October 28, 2012 Author Posted October 28, 2012 I've added a poll! Can everyone try to limit their votes to just one fig from here on in? Also, let's try to not nominate whole themes, because they won't be counted (except Speed Racer, simply because so many people have already voted for it). However, feel free to still vote for groups of figs (i.e. Clone wars humans) Thanks Everyone Quote
Oky Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 What's with all the Worst/Best threads again lately? What exactly is the point in pointing out the black sheep in Lego history? Oh well, since I'm already here, I might as well put in my 2 cents. I actually quite like Juno Eclipse. I think she's fairly accurate and I don't know how TLG could have done her better. And she can't possibly be worse than the Aldar Beedo impostor: If I had to pick from non-SW figs I'd have to go for one of the early Nickelodeon figs as TLG obviously didn't put much effort into these. Especially the Fire Nation soldiers were horribly inaccurate. It pains me to think how great these could have turned out if they would have been produced with nearly as much devotion as recent licensed themes such as LOTR and TMNT. As for the best licensed fig, I have to agree with just2good and Gunther. Toy Story had some great and very accurate minifigs, but one in particular stands out to me: Dirty Woody. From the molded head to the elongated arms and legs, Woody is a very accurate minifig, and the dirt detailing on this version along with the adorably desperate looking face take it to a whole new level. He even has printing on his arms! Not only does it make for an incredibly detailed fig, but also represents the character from the scene it's meant to portrait perfectly. Although Wonder Woman comes close, she doesn't have her bracelets printed on her arm, so she's not as accurate. The latest Boba Fett and ARC Trooper are great too, but again, no arm printing. Quote
Robominer Posted October 28, 2012 Posted October 28, 2012 The worst unmentioned Licensed minifigure must be the new Spider-Man. He has way too much blue on him. And the best minifigure must be this: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20120606185336/lego/images/9/9c/Lor020.jpg Quote

As set 7596 (wow, I actually remembered that number off the top of my head!) is definitely one of my favorite sets of all time, I love the figure, along with dirty Hamm and the LGMs. Dirty Buzz and Jessie didn't impress me as much, though I love my misprinted dirty Buzz. Faefrost Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Best? Ooo? So many really good choices. The New Darth Malgus and Sith Troopers are among my favorites. Also the dark side Amakin from the Jedi Interceptor set. As are pretty much any of the LotR ones with the Frodo from the Shelob set being my fav. Least liked? Any of the ones in the 9498 Saesee Tin's Starfighter. I mean they just look like they were run over by a street sweeper. Granted they are disturbingly ugly figs of disturbingly ugly characters, but still, couldn't they spread it out a bit? I feel I must put in a kind word for the much put upon Clone Wars figs. Honestly, it's the humans that are ugly, with the Padme from the Malevolence being the absolute worst. The Aliens actually for the most part look pretty good. The Ayala Secura and Cad Bane figs are among my absolute favorites. And Embo is just great. Quote
Amset-Rah Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Best: This is a tough choice, but for me it's a toss-up between Wonder Woman and any figs from Lord of the Rings (Particularly Gandalf and the Uruks). WW has an awesome hairpiece and plenty of detail (Though as Oky pointed out her armbands are missing, but I can live with that), and the Uruks just look amazing, especially with their variety (With or without the white hand face paint). Worst-I'd say the some of the Harry Potter minifigs from the middle of the run, particularly Ron and Hermoinie (SP?). Their faces looked weird, like they've been flattened, but the 2006 Squidward and early Avatar Fire Nation figs are eyesores as well, but I'm a bit biased against Spongebob and Nickelodeon anyway (Though the TMNT cartoon/sets show some promise) Quote
CMP Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Worst: Aldar Beedo (either version, really) Best: Gollum, without question. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 My favorite at the moment is Eomer. Least favorite, clone troopers. Those faces are horrible. Quote
Sam892 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I think that my Favourite minifig has to be either Magneto, Wolverine, black suit Spidey or Ironman. All the new superheroes are incredible apart from one or two. In terms of the worst it has to be the original Sebulba and Watto from 1999 and 2000. Looking back at them it shows exactly how much better LEGO is at making strange aliens and unusual minifigs. Quote
TheLegoDr Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I would say Best: Haldir from LOTR Worst: Skeleton from Indiana Jones. The crystal skull was nicely done, but they just placed it on a skeleton body. Not very original and in terms of overall minifigure not the best... Quote
Moexy Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 My 2 cents Best: Theoden with his armor (LOTR) Worst: 1st Flesh Hermione Quote
Tommy Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 I actually quite like Juno Eclipse. I think she's fairly accurate and I don't know how TLG could have done her better. I agree. I think Santaduckz ran into a poorly printed Juno. The minifigure I have of her looks much less cross-eyed and spooky than that pic and more like this one: In any case, my vote for best goes to Luke Skywalker from 2011's Millenium Falcon (7965). I think they finally made a good mold for Luke's long hair and it's nice to get a scowl from him since we're mostly used to a smiley Luke. As for worst, I would say Ahsoka Tano. I think she came out kinda blocky looking and the overall look does not embody the character in my mind. Quote
GandalfofHoth Posted December 21, 2012 Posted December 21, 2012 Worst: Clone Wars Padmé Best: Queen Amidala (kind of weird, they are the same person) Quote
Mr. Elijah Timms Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 Best: Boba, Bossk, Boussh Leia, the hobbits from LoTR, and I'll go with Indy as some of the best licensed figs of all time. The Jawas are great too. Worst: Some of those early Harry Potter figs were atrocious. The man-faced Hermione or even that blue troll come to mind... Quote
Ace Krampus Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 I really like the German Mechanic. I think the figure conveys the sense of scale well, despite the obvious fact that he's the same actual size as every other minifigure. Not gonna be a popular pick, of course, but I was very impressed with this guy and thought I'd give him a write-in. Worst is a little tougher. I think the original General Grievous was pretty bad. White? I mean, monochrome is fine, but white? Quote
Ceroknight Posted December 23, 2012 Posted December 23, 2012 (edited) I think Lego did a brilliant job with all the Toy Story minifigures The minifigures I distaste right now are actually the TMNT turtles for the reason why some of you hate the TCW clones..their goofy eyes.. I grew up with the old Turtles so that's probably the reason why, but I can't stand those eyes I think that's why the Shadow Leonardo figure appeals to me so much Edited December 23, 2012 by Ceroknight Quote
Huntleyfx Posted December 24, 2012 Posted December 24, 2012 Best? I think I need to go with Theoden, if only for the armor. Worst? So. Many. Options. The Mandalorians have to go here. It's like a worse version of the Clone Trooper head. Quote
Vindicare Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 With all the hate for the Clone Wars figs, you have to only look at the source material for their deformities. In that respect, they're probably the best and most accurate figs. I happened to like the Clne Wars figs just fine. I haven't gotten my hands on CW Padme yet., so my opinion may change. Quote
charlieboy Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 Best is a tough choice, there are some great figs but I think i'll go with the new LotR/Hobbit figures, I'm loving those at the moment! The worst licensed fig is easy, how bad is this guy? Quote
just2good Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 The worst licensed fig is easy, how bad is this guy? {pic} Woah, where is that guy from! Star Wars, I'm guessing? Quote
Vindicare Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 (edited) Woah, where is that guy from! Star Wars, I'm guessing? I believe he came in Star Wars Pod Racer Bucket. Edit:upon further review, I thought it was 7159. But that's the one that has that awful Aldar Beedo that Oky posted. Edited December 25, 2012 by Legocrazy81 Quote
gundamz Posted December 26, 2012 Posted December 26, 2012 Wow, that figure is ugly. (the one that charlieboy posted) Quote
Dorayaki Posted December 27, 2012 Posted December 27, 2012 It reminds me that there are more and more collectible minifigures having hair in hat. If Juno is made in 2013, would she have a better look? Quote
Vindicare Posted December 28, 2012 Posted December 28, 2012 It reminds me that there are more and more collectible minifigures having hair in hat. If Juno is made in 2013, would she have a better look? I would say definitely. The majority of the last few years of figs have all been brilliant. I have no doubt they'd make a great Juno and redeem themselves. Even with that oddity that is CW Padme. Can't really blame TLG for that though, blame the animators of the show. Quote
