jhc2nmfn Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Of course we will get something for building,if we get Fell beast in Pelennor Fields scene,we will probably get one Mowing tower or catapult for building,if we het it in Osgiliath set,we will get also some ruin towers for building.I don't see the problem about that Here is molded Fell beast, looks really great to me You think that lego will release a set with a molded nazgul, witching, Eowen, merry, and (maybe theoden) with only having a catapult to build? Yea right. Stop dreaming. But you must not have understood my post. My point was that there is no way in hell lego will release a set with a molded creature, 2-3highly wanted minifigs, and only have a catapult to build. It makes no sense and would be the most expensive catapult anyones ever bought. Like the kind person said a few posts above me, just over the past two waves weve seen molded creatures in 90$ sets or higher (mines of moria and goblin town) and we will see exactly how much the black gates set is with the eagle. I personally think that picture of the nazgul looks terrible and way too "cartooney", atleast the head/face anyway. Quote
Kayne Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 While I agree with you about the possibility of that many 'wanted' minifigs and a molded fellbeast, I think the new star wars sets have shown that more of the sought after characters are showing up in cheaper sets. The desert skiff has Boba Fett, Luke and Lando. The new 2013 set that has Yoda with some others for $19.99, etc. With that in mind, there may be hope for some smallers sets with great figs in it. But, then again Star Wars has been out a long time.... Quote
Infernum Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Well the Wizard Duel set is coming with Saruman, who's a wanted figure. So maybe TLG is putting wanted figs in smaller sets. Quote

Sigolf Brimabane Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 My problem with moulded beasts is that they are so bloody stiff. The "bionicle-ish" dragon of the Viking era at least had some joints and was moveable. Highly poseable too. A moulded fell beast would just be able to stand there, maybe turn its head and open its fangs... But naught else. But I do believe that if there will be one, it will be similar to that of the game... Quote
rpmac91 Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Has anybody even mentioned most obvious choice for a brick build with a "witching/eowyn battle"? An oliphant/mumakil like this one I found on the mocpages: or this one Just my thoughts, it might need to be a tad bit smaller than these. But it doesn't look like a set that has the witch king/eowyn battle is even going to be released this year. Quote
jhc2nmfn Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I didn't mean because of the figs alone. I meant the combination of the figs with a molded creature and not having anything substantial to build with it. And the figs really just being the witchking and Eowen. I highly doubt we see the set : Eowen vs witchking 150(-) parts with witchking, Eowen, merry, theoden with a horse and a molded nazgul and a brickbuilt catapult. Not saying it wouldn't be a cool set , or really just a cheap way to get some figs but I just don't see it happening. Quote

Sigolf Brimabane Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I still like brick constructions better x) Lego is not about buying a toy like action figures, it is made so you can build whatever you can imagine. :( If we get Mûmakil I hope they are brick built, it would definitely look much better. So the Orthanc tower is pretty much confirmed? Quote

deskp Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 There will be also molded, like in the video game, but tower on their back will be buildable with probably around 100 pieces Do not think that everything you see in the videogame will turn into real lego. In my opinion the mumakilw e see in the game are WAY too big for somethign we'd get in lego. Maybe it's time for lego to make an updated elephant though Potentially they could make it sligthly bigger than the previous one and be printed as a mumakil. Quote
ShaydDeGrai Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 I have my doubts we will get a Minas Tirith at all. I think a Lego produced set wont be able to do it justice... Gates perhaps or a section of wall but I don't think there will be a complete set I think this really depends on what you consider a "Minas Tirith Set" If you're thinking mini-figure scale, I entirely agree with you. You could certainly do a "Grond at the Gates" play set or a Trebuchet and section of wall as an army builder pack (like the Helm's Deep compatible battle pack") but it's not _really_ Minas Tirith, it's just a gatehouse and some wall sections. If on the other hand you want a _real_ model of Minas Tirith as either an Architecture Style micro-build or an UCS kit (think Middle Earth meets the Taj Mahal) then I think you certainly could capture the feel for the city as a whole, but you'd be nowhere near mini-figure scale. For example, I think my microbuild of The White City does a reasonable job of capturing the shape of the one in the movie: As it is the model fits on a 32x32 stud base, but trying to scale this up to fit mini-figures would cost a fortune (as least as far as a viable, off the shelf product is concerned). And the more detail and scale you throw away to keep the cost down, the less it resembles Minas Tirith. Quote
wonkyeye Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Found this on brickipedia. Probably fake, but still nice. Quote
thefyfe Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 That would be sweet as a minifig for council of elrond - think fake tho as there's ginger showing round edges of hair! Quote
Lordof theBricks Posted January 13, 2013 Posted January 13, 2013 Found this on brickipedia. Probably fake, but still nice. Maybe we will get him instead Gimli in Council of Elrond set, because this is the only chance to get old Gloin,I would really like that Quote
deskp Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I think a minas tirith could be possible in same way that the black gate is. Make the set half of minas tirith! And then make the Gate it's own set. Obviously not all of the level top middle and bottom would do fine. Quote
Mahtion Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Has to be Gimli in Council of Elrond set. Gimli is the one who breaks his axe on the ring pedestal as shown on the play action feature. Quote
just2good Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 The Gloin is just a recolor, it isn't official. They just took an HD photo of Gloin from the Hobbit and recolored his hair and pants. You can even see an orange glow around his hair. Quote
Leo604 Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 ^ Plus Gloin was never in the movies so TLG wouldn't bother making a minifigure not in the adaptation. Quote
Niku Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 I remember a user, Nujumetru I think, made a pretty nice version of Minas Tirith, TLG could make that version into two separate sets. Quote

Artanis I Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Plus Gloin was never in the movies A bold statement to make on the Internet, where all sorts of information sources are available for both checking your own facts, and proving others' incorrect. Here he is portrayed by John Rhys-Davies: Quote

For this one thing, I actually would not want printing so we can use it as an elephant too. Maybe the could have actual cloth or plastic hangings instead like the trolls had in the fantasy castle sets. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Hopefully we will see which dwarf it is at Toyfair, would really like to see a fell beast with ringwraith on it. I like the 'elefant' but not too sure that will be made as a set although they had big screen presence in the battle on ROTJ I am not too sure that Lego would include it unless it was part of a bigger set like a Minas Tirith battle scene?
