Deathleech Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The story is about the members of the fellowship and their mission. Even if split apart. I think this is going off topic... Yes it is, but they cease being the Fellowship at the end of the first film and break off into their own little groups. It seems you are confusing the good vs evil aspect with the forming on the Fellopwship. Read this entry for more clarification. I agree, this is a little off topic though... Yep, here is the trailer to the new hobbit film Pretty cool! It looks like we get a glimpse of Beorn in bear form, some dialogue between Tauriel and Legolas on whether to help the dwarves or not, some extra scenes not in the books (the elves chasing the dwarves as they escape in the barrels), and of course Smaug at the end. I just wish we could of gotten a better glimpse at Smaug, but I am super excited all the same! Quote
Eurolock Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 Hmmm...that trailer looked so 'cartoony' if they had replaced Orlando Bloom with the Lego minifigure it wouldn't have looked out of place. Apologies for straying off-topic. Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 The whole story is about the fellowship, the defeating of the evil forces and the destroying of the ring. But for your theory: Elronds Council would have fit perfectly in the first wave because this is where the fellowship was founded. Also what about the orc forge? Ideal "enemy"-set... I really don't know why they didn't leave the Forge for W2. But with the Council, hey you gotta save some sets for more waves. W1 was big already. Quote
The Legonater Posted June 11, 2013 Posted June 11, 2013 ...some extra scenes not in the books (the elves chasing the dwarves as they escape in the barrels) That's not really a new scene, it's just been expanded heavily, in ways that make little sense. Quote
Bilbo Baggins Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I was surprised to see Smaug already. Maybe that means that there will be Smaug merchandise this year after all. I still don't think we'll get Smaug in a set this year, they'll hold the set with Smaug till the third film is released. Quote
Fives Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I still don't think we'll get Smaug in a set this year, they'll hold the set with Smaug till the third film is released. Unless this movie ends with Smaug's death. The big climatic battle could very well be the attack on Laketown. As for the trailer, its amazing! The movie will be way better than the first! But I really fear that whatever LEGO does, they won't be able to do the size of Smaug justice. Judging from the size of his head compared to Bilbo, a decently sized LEGO version would need to be at least 3 times bigger than the current Castle dragon. He could easily be a massive brick built set just himself. As for Beorn, he will need a new mold. The current bear isn't mush bigger than a normal minifig, and just the glimpse of Beorn's head showed that he's at least four times the size of a regular human. I'd say a Dewback sized animal would be perfect. Also, I'm now kinda wishing they hadn't done the Barrels set. While a nice set, it looks like that scene will have a lot more action once the dwarves are in the river. Quote
Karlson Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 That's not really a new scene, it's just been expanded heavily, in ways that make little sense. I think the Mirkwood Elves pursuing the escaped Dwarves scene makes perfect sense. The Mirkwood realm hates Dwarves and this beginning conflict between them will only escalate between the 2nd film and the 3rd film when all out war begins between all the races of Middle-Earth. N7LEGO Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Funny to see the Barrel Escape in the trailer while we had the set since some months. Quote
MandaloretheLesser Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) From what i can see in the trailer the Dwarf's have changed costume a bit and/or lost parts of the original costume so i hope TLG picks up on that and gives us a few new clothing prints for the Dwarfs just to change It up a bit. Ceroknight Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 With Lego's extra attention to detail on minifigures these days, I think it's more than possible for the dwarves to get new prints. Quote

Fives Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Maybe a Smaug with the same size of the SuperStar Destroyer He easily could be, but not realistically from LEGO. No, he'll likely have a body and head twice as big as the T-Rex mold from last year, with large wings hopefully attached like the Eagles'. Who knows, we've seen Smaug in the trailer, perhaps he'll be the big reveal from LEGO at Comic-Con. Quote
Pulp Detective Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Personally I hope for a lake town set with Smaug attacking it including Bard minifig, well thats an idea for a set. Quote
deskp Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Keep in mind a lego hobbit is bigger comparatively to a normal lego, in the movie the hobbit is lot smaller than a normal human, smaugs head doesent need to be that big. Quote
Propicz89 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 I don't thin smaug will be to big, should be bigger than the Lego Fellbeast in the video game at least though... Quote
deskp Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 (edited) I think the green used should have been the same as tauriel. And the shape of the brown thing should have been more pointed like a leaf.. I hope these guys gets printed legs if we see them again. Edited June 12, 2013 by deskp Quote
Ardelon Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 Smaug might be brick-built, like a Ninjago dragon. Arent they the biggest dragons we have to date? I wouldnt expect Smaug to be any smaller. Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted June 12, 2013 Posted June 12, 2013 ^ That's the approach that I'm expecting that they'll take as well. A $130-140 set could give us quite a decent sized brick-built dragon. Quote
Fives Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 One thing they did well with the Ninjago dragons were the foldable wings. A similar tenchique combined with sail-like fabrics to fill in the wings, and you've got nice folding wings for Smaug, that way he could easily be posed curled up on his mountain of gold. Quote
SandMirror38 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 kinda pissed off with the jurrasic park raptor/snake version of smaug..... Were gonna get some GREAT sets Quote

Almaras22 Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 ^Yeah, I've seen all but the Wizard Battle in tru, target and big w. As for the prices, it's Australia :/ Quote
Rogue Angel Posted June 13, 2013 Posted June 13, 2013 AUSTRALIAN $60 FOR C.O.ELROND???? :( AND DOSNT COME OUT TO JULY??????? Hate getting ripped off.......... My brother was saying how Warhammer miniatures also cost twice as much in Australia, and that the average Aussie household income is twice as much as the standard income, so this was the rationale? I'm not sure if this is true, but that's what the markup was supposedly based on. Quote
