You can always buy it on ebay ;)

Judging from it's exclusivity, sellers would probably raise the prices high enough that it'd be cheaper to get the full-sized Bag End instead.

Whilst looking in the superheroes 2014 thread I found out about Saturdays SDCC main event:

no I've seen all the schedules since I'm at there now. Thursday is a Star Wars set, Friday is dc, Saturday is a hobbit set, and Sunday is a lego movie set.

So I take it that on Saturday we will be seeing a new hobbit set, we may even see some of the minifigure lineup, it sounds great, roll on Saturday if this is definitely true :classic:

I recon we'll only see the minfigures that goes with the set. Would love to see more though!

Waiting 2 more days is annoying, but is nice knowing they will show something for sure.

Yep, I think you are right there, they will probably do the same thing like they did with bag end last year, hopefully the set has smaug or azog, or even beorn in it, that'd be great, I wish I had found out about this tomorrow though, then Id have had only one day to eagerly await the news :classic:

But then you would have been waiting another day in uncertainty if lego would show anything new hobbit sets related.

Aye that is very very true, its kind of a mix of both, whatever way I can't wait to hear more, hopefully there will be a picture of it before Saturday like there has been with every other set so far, but if not I am still happy to hear that we will get a look at one of the sets.. :classic:

The star wars set didn't have a picture before today. It's a niccee week to be a lego fan, since sunday they have revealed atleast one set each day, and by the looks of it that will go on throughout upcoming sunday aswell!

In 48 hours we should know whats going on with the hobbit atleast, Hopefully they will show off the biggest or next biggest set. and not some riddles in the dark equilient.

They will show at least the second biggest set. We could possibly get the fig lineup early, and then they'll show the full set on... Sunday is it?

Last year they showed Bag End, the second biggest set. And the Star Wars set revealed looks pretty substantial in size. I'm assuming that we'll see something to do with the elves, since we've seen he most of them in teasers and trailers so far. That way, there won't be many spoilers.

Which sets was Samwise Gamgee available in? Anything other than the Battle with Shelob?

did they do any sets for the end of the books -- the rebuilding of Hobbiton -- and which version of LoTR are they going with? the books or the movies?

Sam was only in the Shelob set. They're going with movie-based sets. Here's the list of sets currently out: The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.

Wow, you're pretty uninformed. They are doing only movie sets, thats the lisence they got. Sam is only in the shelob set.

That's what I expect. If the final battle at Laketown with Smaug is gonna be as big and intense as PJ says, LEGO is gonna need to put everything they can into a set for that scene.

The reason I think Thranduil's Halls is the set we'll see is 1. We've had lots of teasers of those particular scenes from the film, more than most other scenes, 2. The scenes from Mirkwood are very well known by all fans of The Hobbit, so revealing a set based on those scenes may increase sales for the sets. Fans who don't regularly buy LEGO will see it and say 'Hey, that looks pretty flippin cool! I'll get that for Xmas!' It happened with Bag End, which was listed as one of the most popular Christmas toys of 2012. LEGO won't pass up a chance to reveal something that will be popular to a wide audience, and Comic-Con gives them that opportunity.

If they make a Thranduil's realm set (is that really the common name for the.. structure?) I hope it includes the front rockface with the pillars and the bridge, SO that it's a set that looks good, and isnt just standalone things (barrel escape, mines of moria, goblin king).

Soemthing in the "style" of these sets, where the backside/inside of the rock/wall has rooms and things, but it looks relatively complete from the front.

It all depends on how PJ envisions the fortress. From what I can tell, the majority of the palace is more underground, almost like a mix of Lorien and Erebor. I think we'll see Thranduil's throne with the big antlers. But I truly have no idea what to expect.

I want the entrance so it can be a showpiece. the inside of the lego set could have the throne and such.

Sam was only available in one set so far. The Shelob set.

Lego's license is with Warner Brothers / New Line Cinema via the company Middle Earth Enterprises, not the Tolkien Estate. So they can only make sets of things directly from the movies. They can't use things from the books that do not appear on screen. The Tolkien Estate rabidly polices this sort of thing. J R R Tolkien outright sold the movie, names and merchandising rights to LotR and the Hobbit to United Artists for a flat fee back in 1968, which in turn sold them to MEE. This has long infuriated the Tolkien Estate and Tolkien's relatives. They did not see a direct dime from the movies. (The fact that the movies more than doubled the total global books sales of the property was somehow lost on them.) So there has long been a bit of a licensing war between the two organizations.

deskp, love the 'sketch', looks great. Only change I'd make is get rid of the guard and make him another armored soldier. And perhaps Tauriel could be in a smaller 'Ambush in Mirkwood' set with some elves and orcs fighting on those ruins shown in the trailer. I've always wanted a set based on random, overgrown ruins.

Those ruins I've put on top of the thing. You can see Azog assult the guards there in the trailer, So I went ahead and assumed that was conencted to the rest of thranduils palce, since it was being guarded. (a clever creator could make it 2 sets and leave room for it to be connected.)

Tauriel is in the set because she takes part in the interrogation scene with Tranduil, legolas and what I assume is Narzug.
