Seaber Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I think the most likely future Middle-earth films would happen during the War of the Ring, such as the War in the North. Lots of information about this is available within the licencing, and WB won't want to miss out on the huge cash cow that is LOTR/The Hobbit. As well as this, with the Hobbit films now out, it could bring back characters from both LOTR and the Hobbit. However, as Tolkien never wrote the stories about the War in the North for example, would there be interest? And there would be no Hobbits which forms the heart of Middle-earth. Anyway, back to the topic, DOS will feature from Beorn to when the Dwarves get to Erebor, as well as some Dol Guldur side plot. BO5A is in TABA. I'd like to see more of Thranduil's Halls to compliment Barrel Escape. With the six sets we've been given, I think that's pretty likely. Quote
Sarah Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I LOVE the dead soldiers in the Pirate Ship set! And I do love the scene. I think its the first real acceptance Aragorn showed of being KING. I wish those dead soldiers were in a less expensive set though! Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I really hope they don't try to invent prequels and turn Middle-Earth into yet another ongoing franchise. The LOTR movies were very good interpretations, but the Hobbit so far has been less Tolkien's work and more like a high-budget fan-fic. AUJ was still a fun movie, but it's not at the level of Tolkien's work. Quality in Middle-Earth seems to drop considerably when other people try to write the stories. Quote
Hypernova888 Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I feel like the only place that I can think of for Azog to fit in is wherever that clip from the trailer is. Maybe there will be a $30 set with Thranduil, Bilbo and Legolas? I think that a Smaug set would be $60 and have Bilbo and a huge brick-built Smaug. These are the sets I feel shouldn't be left out from LotR: -Minas Tirith -I feel like LEGO Has been trying not to name the Ent from Orthanc. Could that be hinting that there will be a Treebeard set in the future? -I'd really like a Battle pack with like five generic Mordor Orcs and a catapult. -Some sort of Oliphaunt, a Fell beast, Eowyn, Merry, and the Witch-King -Maybe Osgiliath? -I want a set based off of The Long expected party, With Old Bilbo in it. -I want some sort of representation of Amon-Hen I think we've gotten enough set based of Rohan and the surrounding area. I want more Mordor/Gondor. I also think that it would be nice to have a Miniature Barad-Dur. I've already built one using the Head from the Wizard Battle, and I'm really Pleased with it, But I think LEGO Could get some decent money from it. Better angle, and not holding that horrid club. By the way, I really like him with White. I would definitely buy this. Quote

AUJ was still a fun movie, but it's not at the level of Tolkien's work. Quality in Middle-Earth seems to drop considerably when other people try to write the stories. In all fairness the Hobbit wasn't really full of substance to begin with. I just re-read it last year before AUJ was released and you can tell it's focus was to be more of a children's book. A lot of stuff happens very quickly and in succession without much detail until the end. Heck, other than Thorin most of the dwarves are barely even mentioned specifically beyond their introduction. Of course PJ added a ton of his own stuff and deviated from the main story a lot, some of which could of definitely been done without, but I can understand why he did some of it. As for Thranduil in a DOS set, I would like it, but if we don't get one surely Lego will put him in a Battle of the 5 Armies set. They could also include Beorn in bear form if we don't get a set with him this wave. Of course it could also make an amazing army builder, I could totally imagine some some Laketown Guards, elves, orcs, and another Warg and eagle. Knowing Lego we will probably just get one or two of each though and more Bilbos and Gandalfs *sigh* Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 Gandalf may be one of the most common licensed characters ever (counting all variations), but I'm sure *sigh* that there will be many more to come. Quote
LegoThomas Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 I'm really drunk right now and all i can say is: i love all the lego lotr and hobbit stuff abd hope its goin to continur a lonnlong time. Ps i need to buy another 3 attack on weathrrtop to get all the nine. Witchking coming soon... Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Uh...no comment. The sets are great, and I'm sure we will have one more wave. A fourth wave would be great, but I'm not crossing my fingers on that. There's a lot of things that haven't been covered in LEGO, and there is so much potential, and so little money! Nabii Posted July 26, 2013 Posted July 26, 2013 (edited) Just talked to a fellow lego designer (Mark Stafford) and he said Azog will be in a set but slightly different Feel free to tell me who you are in a personal message - but I don't remember discussion LotR with anyone last weekend - and I definitely didn't say anything about Azog as I actually have no idea if he is in any sets (though it would surprise me if he isn't) as I try to avoid movie spoilers at work and keep away from the LotR and Super Heroes areas because of this! If you're new at LEGO please remember LEGO Designers (all LEGO employees below senior management) cannot discuss sets until about six weeks before they come out without specific permission, to do so is to risk our jobs. Cheers. EDIT: He said.... 'Hi, to answer your question I will say Yes, the Azog minifigure seen as an 'exclusive' at SDCC will come to a set in The Hobbit, although he will be slightly different..as he is called 'The Pale Orc' him in white would look nicer wouldn't it? Keep Building, Mark' There. thats the email... I must say your Azog there looks GREAT! I didn't see this post. I'm Mark Stafford. I sent no such email. To do anything like this would be to lose my job. Please disregard this little twerp. Cheers, Mark. Edited July 26, 2013 by Nabii Quote

Shroffy123 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Wow, I think the History section needs a MOD asap. This, forum specifically, has gotten really out of hand. Quote
N7LEGO Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 SandMirror38... again... Thanks for telling us the truth Mark. Quote
Leo604 Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 So does that mean the whole white Azog thing just went out the window? Thanks for clearing things up, Mark/Nabii. Quote
8BrickMario Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) Not necessarily, it's still a possibility, but it is (unsurprisingly due to the usual LEGO protocol) not confirmed. And so it should be. It is kept secret until near the release/reveal time, and I respect that. Edited July 27, 2013 by 8BrickMario Quote
Deathleech Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 So does that mean the whole white Azog thing just went out the window? Thanks for clearing things up, Mark/Nabii. Most likely. I have no idea why or how Lego would of "accidentally" put a prototype Azog in an existing set that uses a Voldemort head and has crudely painted parts. I mean does Lego really have their factory/warehouse anywhere NEAR the design studio where the prototypes would be created? I seriously doubt that. Let alone one just fell into the Warg Attack set... It's one thing to tell a white lie, it's a whole other thing to put someones job at risk Exactly. Lego are our benefactors. To border on outright libel against their employees is a sin unforgivable. After Mark has come on and confirmed that this guy is an out-and-out liar, he continues to lie?!?! Never seen anything like this on Eurobricks. Where is the banhammer? As to the topic at hand. I anticipate the cool blue of TDOS packaging, and a new Thorin for TABA sets. Gonna be good! Edited July 27, 2013 by Darth Caedus Quote

The discipline hammer WILL come out if it is mentioned again. This thread has been reported to the mods and when a regulator has had to report the same thread 3 times in 2 days, this nonsense WILL be addressed. Stop now. Quote
