Does anyone know the source of last years's set list so we know where to look this year? It was an german online retailer, I doubt they will ddo that again this year though! But to pass the time I will try to find links. The poster from toys r us with pictures of all the sets leaked early october last year, Edit: http://www.spielwaren-kontor24.de/lego/lego-hobbit/?sPage=1&sPerPage=48 Edited July 27, 2013 by deskp Quote

greeny Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Uk shop@home now has the new Lotr sets up finally!! Hooray! I'm waiting until I get all of last years sets before I start on this wave though. I'm nearly done, all I need is Helms Deep and Mines of Moria. Also, has Gandalf Arrives and Attack on Weathertop been discontinued? They aren't showing up on UK Shop@Home Quote
Frargos Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Argos has also has the new Lego LOTR sets! But the best part is they have reduced some of the older sets. Attack on Weathertop - 29.99 Attack of the Wargs - 29.99 The LOTR Spider set with Shelob - 16.99 And in Tesco The Goblin King fight - 55.99 Does this mean the sets aren't selling that well? It's good for us as we get cheap sets but does this mean LoTR and the Hobbit will be discontinued after the last Hobbit film? Quote

That's a shame I've really been enjoying the Hobbit sets so far, but at least lego will hold onto the licence so we may see more sets in the future like Harry Potter. The lego Bagend was what got me into the LoTR franchise properly! Quote

I think a 4th wave could be good to "pick up the slack" though! Quote
BlueberryWaffles Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 They've already been warned. One last time. NO MORE Azog "prototype" discussion. Period. The discipline hammer WILL come out if it is mentioned again. This thread has been reported to the mods and when a regulator has had to report the same thread 3 times in 2 days, this nonsense WILL be addressed. Stop now. @SandMirror for how much would you sell the prototype fig for?? PM me please :3 Do you even listen? Quote
LegoThomas Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hey i got a question: how much would you guys pay for 6 Nazgul on horses? Quote
deskp Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) Hey i got a question: how much would you guys pay for 6 Nazgul on horses? Me, I wouldn't buy that. 2 in one set is quite enough. Also i think the Nazgul minifigs are pretty poor, the hoods does not match the ones in the movie AT ALL. Edited July 27, 2013 by deskp Quote
Kez Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I went to my local Argos today, I picked up the battle at the black gate set, I cant wait to build it, plus its probably better value for getting lego from Argos instead if S@H because if you spend over £50 like me you get a £5 voucher Quote
Spider-Man Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hey i got a question: how much would you guys pay for 6 Nazgul on horses? I agree with deskp. Between their hoods and cloaks I have to say that two is enough for me. Unless of course you can get them for like $5-10 for the set, then of course anybody would do it Quote
Seaber Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Hey i got a question: how much would you guys pay for 6 Nazgul on horses? Personally, I'd buy two Black Gates first for two horses, then just buy four more from Bricklink/ebay along with six torsos and six cloaks. I'm sure I have enough spare hoods, heads and legs to complete the set. So probably between fifteen and twenty quid. Hoods aren't perfect, but I'm happy with them. Quote
Brickdoctor Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 @SandMirror for how much would you sell the prototype fig for?? PM me please :3 If a member of the staff has just told everyone to stop discussing something, please don't continue to not only discuss it but make a post that's even further off-topic. After Mark has come on and confirmed that this guy is an out-and-out liar, he continues to lie?!?! Never seen anything like this on Eurobricks. Where is the banhammer? Do you even listen? Please use the report button instead of saying that a member should be banned (whether you are right or not) or telling a member what to do. Quote
Dorothy Vader Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Picked up a Battle at the Black Gate set from Argos this morning and received £10 in vouchers: £5 for spending over £25 on Lego, and £5 for spending over £50 in store. Now, on to building ... Quote
ZCerberus Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 Do you even listen? While you are correct, leave the moderating to EB staff. Use the "report" button if you see something questionable that the Mods don't know about. The same also applies to those who have said "this thread needs moderation". Mods have lives as well and aren't always aware of misbehavior immediately. Please use the "report" button if the content is objectionable. @SandMirror for how much would you sell the prototype fig for?? PM me please :3 Everyone has specifically been warned to not talk about the Azog "prototype" described by Sandmirror. It is a dead subject. I have also been informed that Sandmirror may have been the victim of a prank regarding a report from a LEGO representative that Azog would definitely be in a future set. Whether that is true or not, let me set the expectations and give you some reminders now. 1. While a little good-natured ribbing between members (especially friends) is acceptable, name calling is not. 2. This thread was designed to talk about LotR sets that we KNOW about. Speculation about unknown sets should be in the future LotR discussion which is literally the second thread down in the forum right now. 3. If the moderators tell you to move on from a topic, MOVE on. I will lock this thread if more shenanigans continue until a Mod can clean this up. Edit: I now see one of our Mods, Brickdoctor, has told you the same things. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 In all fairness the Hobbit wasn't really full of substance to begin with. I just re-read it last year before AUJ was released and you can tell it's focus was to be more of a children's book. A lot of stuff happens very quickly and in succession without much detail until the end. Heck, other than Thorin most of the dwarves are barely even mentioned specifically beyond their introduction. Of course PJ added a ton of his own stuff and deviated from the main story a lot, some of which could of definitely been done without, but I can understand why he did some of it. This is all true, but I disagree that this makes it "not really full of substance". It has lots of substance, it's just that it's a children's book and the substance is not in descriptions of battles or flowery prose, but a more subtle, lingering effect in your imagination and your psyche. I think it was fine for PJ and Co. to add things to the story, and of course they needed to flesh out the Dwarves because in the book most of them were very much non-characters. But I just don't agree with the direction that they went in a lot of cases. It's a lot like the MOS movie, there are people saying "finally, an update to the tired old Superman formula!" and there are people saying "these guys just don't get what makes Superman work." I think PJ genuinely loves the Hobbit and all of Middle-Earth, but he seems completely blind to the fact that his ideas don't always mesh well with JRRT's ideas. Quote
scottjs Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 (edited) DeskP, thanks for the clarification on the piece count for Lake Town Chase. I was getting worried that we would see significant price increase on Lego Hobbit sets, you've put my mind at ease. In all fairness the Hobbit wasn't really full of substance to begin with. As for Thranduil in a DOS set, I would like it, but if we don't get one surely Lego will put him in a Battle of the 5 Armies set. They could also include Beorn in bear form if we don't get a set with him this wave. Of course it could also make an amazing army builder, I could totally imagine some some Laketown Guards, elves, orcs, and another Warg and eagle. Knowing Lego we will probably just get one or two of each though and more Bilbos and Gandalfs *sigh* I loved the book, and I love the first movie. A straight book to movie adaptation would not have cut it in my opinion, sometimes changes have to be made to make things a little more interesting for viewers. Now granted I would rather have not seen the amount of changes that have happened thus far but I'm not part of the movie and the people that are responsible are huge Middle Earth fans so I'll leave it up to them. This goes the same with the Lego sets that are released, they may not always be 100% what I want but I'm just grateful were getting anything at all. When this theme is ultimately done whether that be next year or ten years from now we're going to have seen some amazing minifigures, and new parts released. People have been MOC'ing middle earth scenes for years already and now we'll have the tools to make them more authentic. I still don't see Pirate Ship Battle as this years flagship set for LotR. Is it not Orthanc, are S@H exclusives not considered to be part of the line directly? Speaking of Orthanc for those of you lucky enough to have a Lego store where you live how has it been selling, i.e. do they sit around long? At my Edmonton Lego Store (which has only been open just over a month) they're flying off the shelves with every shipment they get it. I don't think they last beyond a few hours of being stocked, or are at least sold out that same day. If this is a trend I can see it boding well for Lego LotR sets. How cool would it be to have Lego continue to release an Orthanc sized set for each LotR yearly theme and to have LotR continue for a few more years. I won't go into naming sets as that doesn't belong in this thread but we all know the possibilities. Edit: Moved my speculation to the correct thread. Edited July 27, 2013 by scottjs Quote
DragonKnights Posted July 27, 2013 Posted July 27, 2013 I am pleased with the look of the Lake Town Chase set. At first I thought it looked small on the rendering, but after seeing the MTV video and some pictures it looks like it has some good color to it and I like the look of the Lake Town denizens. I would be really pleased to see it attached to an even larger Lake Town scene if the attack on lake town becomes a set. I'll be interested to see what polybags they come up with for the Hobbit sets in the fall. Quote

kermit Posted July 28, 2013 Posted July 28, 2013 Oh boy kermit is away from eurobricks for just one day and he has missed out on some action. Anyway since the barrel chase set scene was in the second movie how many sets besides the laketown will we possible get based on the 2nd installment of the movie? Quote
