Spoiler about the 2nd movie and how it may or may not effect possible future sets below:

I just read an early review for DOS that said that Smaug does NOT die by the end of the movie and doesn't even show up until like the last twenty minutes, so maybe that is why LEGO decided not to do Smaug this wave and maybe, fingers crossed, he'll show up in a set for the third and final movie. I actually think LEGO deciding not to do Smaug this wave is strong evidence that LEGO will in fact be making a wave for the final movie, considering the original deal with LEGO was only for two movies (back when we were only getting two movies). I mean, why end the line without making Smaug? That would just be leaving money (or Dwarf gold) on the table! :dangry:

A 3rd hobbit wave was confirmed a while ago...

The fact that we didn't get Smaug this wave waas all the supporting evidence any theorist would need for a third wave which was as stated earleir confirmed a while ago. It only seems logical to include him as either D2C or in the last wave. Finished building DGA: flick fire missiles urk me in this set no end, would've rather seen an orc with a bow and arrow.

Was a third wave actually confirmed by LEGO? I guess I must have missed that info. Oops.

Pranas, the ad in the back of this wave of Hobbit sets says that the LEGO Hobbit concludes in 2014. This is what has worried so many of the Lord of the Rings fans as we expected that ad to say that Lord of the Rings was coming in Summer 2014.

It's been confirmed in the second Hobbit wave advertisement, and most people were pretty much expecting at least 3 Hobbit waves since there are 3 movies being released.

I think some of you might have missed this video, shows some interesting early design thoughts for the minifigs.

Nice video Deskp :)

Interesting video, a little late though. They released it Dec 3, 2013 and it only talks about... lat years wave?

When is the realise date of the third movie?

When is the realise date of the third movie?

Not sure, but we should assume its btween 10th and 20th december

^ December 17th, to be exact.

That's a cool video. It's certainly interesting to see the molded Goblin head piece they scrapped.

Can't wait to get Bolg next year, I like the new design:

Yes, he actually looks rather cool after all :classic:

Nice! He looks cool. Mean face, like it.

I quite like the design and it's at least somewhat similar to the old design with the metal plates and giant shoulder pads :sweet: I still prefer the old version though (especially with that epic beard) and hope TLG somehow manages to release both versions

I just hope they don't end up releasing the old version and not the new.

Yeah, that would be weird  If that was their intention though they would have gone through with releasing him in 79014  I wonder how they'll handle the head though, Bolg doesn't seem to require a special moulded headpiece but a regular minifig head wouldn't work since he'd look very strange next to Azog. Reusing Azog's head with new printing seems the most convincing option to me, even though Bolg doesn't seem to be as bulky as Azog :sceptic:

I hope this do a head+ shoudelr armor piece for him, like they did with Azog,

Thanks for posting! If you hadn't mentioned 'Bolg', I would have assumed this to be a new 'Gears of War' video game, however.

Damn, that would've been cool.

I don't see why everyone's so surprised...it looks to me like they changed him to look more like Azog is all. And more of an orc...that beard was pretty off.

This is BOLG?

I thought that this is Bolg http://www.google.cz...=16&tx=46&ty=97

Well, that design was intended for azog, scrapped, then they thought it could be Bolg instead, when Azog turned cgi, they couldn't have his son be non cg, and they never quite liked that design so they made a new cg design for Bolg.

I see, but this design of orc (my link) was used in the Battle of Azanulbizar...

The new design is worse i think. Acording to this only picture, he looks like random orc, or more likely random member of somebody personal guard... That old design was better, and memorable, because it gives Bolg some kind of personalitylook, anyway I will wait for the movie before judge him down :)

Shame, I loved the design for Bolg, it was a breath of fresh air in the orc design world. Having an Azog looking twin will be a shame....
