Kez Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 It doesent "explode" it swings open!. Oh right,I must have just read the description wrong because it says 'sneak through the secret entrance',I thought that there was a removable/secret wall in the bottom of the tower based on that description. Quote
SMC Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Here's the description of the black gate set: Includes a Great Eagle and 5 minifigures with weapons: Aragorn™, Gandalf™ the White, Mouth of Sauron and 2 Mordor™ Orcs Black Gate features cool spiked detailing, opening and locking doors, secret entrance and a catapult Also includes a poseable horse Includes 5 weapons: staff, 3 swords and a ball and chain Combine multiple sets for even bigger battles Defeat the Mouth of Sauron on the poseable horse Look out for flying catapult rocks Sneak through the secret entrance Soar into the air on the Great Eagle Collect the never-before-seen Mouth of Sauron and Aragorn™ decoration and cape Black Gate of Mordor™ (with gate closed) measures over 8" (22cm) high, 11" (30cm) wide and 2" (7cm) deep Great Eagle wingspan measures over 7" (19cm) (Me thinks that the secret entrance is at the bottom of the tower because there seems to be an exploding wall. ) Thanks, I have a rule not to buy more of one of any set and needed a reason, any reason to break it and if Lego think you should buy more than one who am I to argue Oh right,I must have just read the description wrong because it says 'sneak through the secret entrance',I thought that there was a removable/secret wall in the bottom of the tower based on that description. Your right it is at the bottom of the tower you can see a hinge at the top so it must swing up Quote
Kez Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 1) Thanks, I have a rule not to buy more of one of any set and needed a reason, any reason to break it and if Lego think you should buy more than one who am I to argue 2) Your right it is at the bottom of the tower you can see a hinge at the top so it must swing up 1)No problems, I also don't buy any more than 1 of each main set because to be honest I wouldn't want multiples of main characters, but I'd probably buy a lot of lotr army builders if they ever made them (a bit like the Star Wars battle packs) 2)Yes that's also what I thought, at first I thought It could be in the rock but then I noticed it on GRogall's photo. KyleJohnson11 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Looks like K-Mart is trying the old bait and swap. My receipt for the purchases says "The Lord of the Rings™ Battle at the Black Gate" and the order pick up confirmation says "Lord of the Rings™ Attack on Weathertop™" Time to call! Quote

My receipt for the purchases says "The Lord of the Rings™ Battle at the Black Gate" and the order pick up confirmation says "Lord of the Rings™ Attack on Weathertop™" Time to call! They just did that with the Sky Joust set for me and CHI Battles! Please post the outcome here! Quote
KyleJohnson11 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 They just did that with the Sky Joust set for me and CHI Battles! Please post the outcome here! I called and they are looking into it. If I don't hear back in about 30 minutes I'll cancel. I don't think they had them to begin with. Quote
FoggyNelson Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Can't wait to figbarf with those ghost figs! Quote
Mr_Malfoy Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks for the images, Grogall! These sets look fantastic! Quote
KyleJohnson11 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Just called and canceled my order. They never had it to begin with. It has the same item number as Attack on Weathertop. Quote
Sylvarsty Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Thanks Grogall for the pics, i am definitely getting the Black gate set. I love how most of these new LotR sets actually have a quality build to them and aren't just using the minifigs to sell them, though that Mouth of Sauron fig pretty much sealed the deal for me. Quote
Deathleech Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 I know K-mart had the Hobbit sets a few weeks early last November, but they would of been almost 2 months early with the second LotR wave if they actually had them in stock. That's pretty crazy and hard to believe so I wouldn't be surprised if they don't actually have them. With a schedule June release I would expect early May or late April at the very earliest for these sets. Quote
petero Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 Don't count on K-Mart's website. The site says my local store has them in stock, but they don't. Around here, the only retailer that gets new sets right away is TRU. Our K-Mart probably won't have the new sets until late summer. Peter Quote
prozac Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Just got my pickup email...hopefully its correct. Wish me luck lol! Quote
jonwil Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 So far I haven't seen anything in this wave that is as awesome a parts pack as the Helms Deep, Mines of Moria or the Bag End set. Although there are a couple nice looking parts in the Black Gate set and maybe in the Council and Wizard Battle sets (although I will need to see pictures to be sure) Oh wait a sec, are those map tiles in the boat set new? If so, that will make it harder since I am trying to collect every map LEGO has ever made. Guess that's what Bricklink is for (like the many other maps from hard-to-get/expensive/exclusive sets already on my BL wanted list :) Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Just got my pickup email...hopefully its correct. Wish me luck lol! It won't be. I had the same issue as KyleJohnson11 and received Weathertop instead. I turned around and returned it. Quote
prozac Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Yep... I got the goblin battle and weathertop lol! Quote
deskp Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Did another photoshop to show the proper black gate. I think lego should have showed the potential with 2 sets to sell more, not just write that it's possible. (I obviously removed the extra "doorknobs") Quote
The_Chosen_1 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Nice job, deskp. I'm planning on doing something similar, so it's great to start formulating ideas on how to go about it. Quote
Delta 38 Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Combine multiple sets for even bigger battles Hmm. Okay, I can finally see the logic behind including only one tower, but it'd still be nice if they included both since it already looks reasonably scaled. Arghh, I may actually have to get two of these just for the sake of completion. Is anyone planning to do the two larger towers and the higher segments of the wall on the sides? The Black Gate still looks a bit off without those. Quote
Darth Malgus Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 They look so much better when seen in Hi Res! cannot wait for these to arrive! Looking at these sets really makes me want the gate at Minas Tirith with Grond! would be so sweet! Quote
scottjs Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 It's funny because Weathertop hasn't seen any clearance prices around me but I managed to get my first from the U.S. for $40 and 4 more (price matching) for $35 to complete the Nine Nazgul. I've gone a little over the top with LotR/Hobbit sets with 1 of each except the 5 Weathertop's, 2 Helm's Deep, 3 Mines of Moria, and 6 Uruk-hai Army. If Lego would just release Battle Packs it would ease my army building efforts. Wow those images of the Corsair and Black Gates make me want those sets even more! The ship was already my favorite of the bunch but those pictures really show off it's true awesomeness. The Battle at the Black Gates isn't my favorite, but I'll be buying 2 regardless to give that completed look. I can't wait for (fingers crossed) Lego to announce Orthanc and I hope they go over the top on that set. I'm guessing TLG won't push it into Death Star/ISS territory but I would really love it if they did. Am I alone in that train of thought or is anyone else hoping for something larger then what is currently rumoured? Quote

Am I alone in that train of thought or is anyone else hoping for something larger then what is currently rumoured? Oh, God knows I am. I want it to be 3 feet tall. I know that's absurd but the closer TLG gets, the happier I'll be. I hope the pictures of Rivendell surface soon. As great as the Corsair ship is, the council set is my gem of the wave. I'm waiting with bated breath GRogall... Quote
Darkdragon Posted April 11, 2013 Posted April 11, 2013 Those sets look amazing (parts/figs wise), but why oh why do they have to make that cool Gandolf hair and beard one piece? Now I'm going to have to get an extra to fix it Giant birds with wings that move FTW. Sand green! Great stuff. It's looking to be an expensive year of LEGO for me. Quote
