K-mart also has the Croc Swamp Hideout up and that one is not available yet on top of being listed for $19.99 when it should be, at the minimum, a $59.99 set. If K-Mart wasn't so far gone already I would bet they would get a lot of backlash for these listing.

Thanks man!

Although I think the "Help Saruman out of his chair" feature is a bit...Odd.

Love the sets though! The architecture is instantly recognizable, and I can't wait to get a hold of Palantír.

Looks like it's supposed to more be a way to launch Saruman at Gandalf for an attack. This type of thing often is a better conceptually than it is in actuality, but I guess they had to do something. The 'spinning Palantir' function (which is I think what that knob does) is even more useless IMO.

The Council of Elrond set looks a little...small.

That picture is missing the weapon rack and has both platforms mushed together so it looks a bit smaller than it is, I think. Either way it's only a 30 dollar set so there isn't a ton they could do with it unfortunately.

I would of rather seen a "spinning Gandalf" feature. Then it would of at least portrayed something from the movie.

Arwen looks fantastic.

I agree that the spinning features look pointless. If the whole oval sectional plate where Gandalf stands would spin that would be better, but as it seems from the picture it seems like only the black circle with the Palantir could spin.

I'm sure kids will enjoy some random spinning. but yeah, msot adult will see little use for it.

I actually kind of like the rotating Palantir function. It's low-key and actually accurate.

I'm really liking all the new sets. As said, the figs are obviously one of the major selling points, but TLG seems to be putting a lot more effort into the model itself, they're not skimping out on any detail. Just look at the Council of Elrond.

Are those Gothic (half-) arches on the Council Of Elrond? Finally after decades we can do pointy arches

Oh for the day when then come out in Bley, such a shame I'll never be able to get them in old-grey.

Yes they are! I'm curious what kind of arches we're getting on the back side of it.

Did you just call the greatest wizard of all time, Defeater of the dark wizard grindelwald and discoverer of the 12 uses of dragon's Blood, Dumbledorf?!?!?!

 You got that from the obituary in the Daily Prophet!

Today at the Lego store, I went to get the Iron Man mansion set, and as usual I asked when the new LOTR sets are coming out. I expected the usual "I don't know," but he went into the back room and when he came out, he immediately said October. Not as soon as I hoped but at least I got an answer! Make of that what you will.

Sounds like that is when the Orthanc set will come out. I'm pretty confident that the LOTR sets will be out this summer, likely June, because October is too close to the next Hobbit movie, and they'll be releasing the wave for DOS around then. If the stores have an October release date for something LOTR related, perhaps more Orthance info is on the horizon.

I would bet that he was giving you the release time for the Hobbit sets. I think we'll know when LEGO establishes a release date for Orthanc.

I gotta admit, the set looks a bit half arched... *baddum-tis!*

I wonder if the Orthanc will be revealed at Brickcon in seattle, because its always held in October.

Those were my first thought and it's not them!

I agree with the cook, these are new arches a 1x3x3 version of the 1x3x2 pictured above if you would like to think of it this way.

What is more puzzling for me is what is going on on the back, we see an arch piece there too but it is hard to guess the dimensions if it were a 1x12x3 that would be great! or even 2 half 1x6x3's imagine the latter in reddish brown!

The retail catalog stated a June release, which is when last years LotR wave was set to be released as well. Of course some retailers got them early and in May so I assume the same will happen this year.

The October release is most likely Orthanc as it lines up with the same Lego D2C release time line as last year (Haunted House).

I think it's a 1x12x3, my reasoning is that the curve looks a lot shallower, that there's no middle pillar and that if building to TLG standards some form of tie would be required across the back to hold the structure together.
