Sounds like reviews should soon be showing up!

Lol don't count in it from me. I'm terrible at that kind of thing. If there is something specific anyone wants to see, let me know.

OMG I'll be at 10:00am on May 17th in front of my LEGO Store for Orthanc !

It's coming June 17th. :poke:

Everyone is getting the date wrong.

And my boy LegoLee reviewed the Wizard Battle set!

I just realized Aragorn has the exact same legs as Boromir in the Black Gate set. They did the same thing with Legolas and Tauriel in the Mirkwood set - not sure if I find that sort of thing creative or annoying.

I just saw all of the new sets at a TRU here in Fort Worth, TX. They look even better in person. I did not buy though, even with BOGO50%, the markup was too steep for me. I will wait until they are at S@H. (That and I just blew two months lego budget on Castle). It looks like I should have taken pictures to show, since no one has done it yet.

Happy hunting!

On another note, does anyone know when TRU is ending this recent wave of BOGO50%? Just in case I regret my decision not to purchase right away. lol.

With the Bogo, getting black gate and council sets saved me about $5 off retail.

I think until this weekend?

Also, it'd be a good time for those who want the doubled black gate to pick both up now.

To whoever has the Black Gate: Please give a video review, or at least pics of the Mouth with helmet off!

Googled and found this:

Yeah that is super creepy, I love it! Nothing in my area yet (Edmonton, Alberta) but I expect things will take a little longer to filter up to Canada. I almost hope there isn't any good sales soon, otherwise I'm going to have to buy them and I need to slow down with my Lego spending.

Wow. Lots of enthusiasm and rapid speech! I think the hidden Eye under the catapult is quite creepy. Arwen looks quite nice, as does Elrond. When did we last see a two-color cape? Was it the Studios Vampire?

Saw the Battle review as well. I thought the Eye of Sauron in the palantir was a 1x1 cylinder, not a minifig head! I like it better that way.

Zurg from Toy Story had a red and black cape, and the new Aragorn has a black and red cape from the new Black Gate set.

I forgot about Zurg andI didn't know about Aragorn. Two-color capes are always welcome, as they add just one more aspect of detail!

Elrond from the Council set has a two color cape as well.

Grabbed Battle at the Black Gate today. Cool lil build, but that is the problem: it is little. It really does need a second set to get the massive scale the gate should have.

The figures are great though, especially the Mouth of Sauron.

Correct me if I am wrong, but is this not the first set to feature a character that appeared ONLY in the Extended Editions?

I guess the Peter Jackson Corsair pirate counts. Even though you see the ships in the theatrical version, the confrontation between Aragorn and Co. and the ship is the only scene where he appears majorly.

@Doctor_ocks:

That's why I was talking about two-color capes in the first place. The review pointed Elrond,s out, and I tried to remember the most recent precedent. : )

Funny how some of the stuff in the summer wave has such little screen time. The Corsair ship isn't exactly iconic, and a few minutes after the Mouth of Sauron's introduction, off with his head. I think that would be sort of funny and gruesome to sneak into the description:

*Sneak in through the hidden door!

*Charge into Mordor! [because one does not simply walk in]

*Decapitate the Mouth of Sauron!

*Combine two sets for a bigger gate! [like we want another Mouth to feed!]

I know he mentioned Saruman's beard is the rubber piece, but can anyone confirm if the new elf hair for Elrond and Arwen are also rubber or the harder plastic?

Both are rubber

Mine were a little crimped actually but once I put them on the figs they straightened out. I really like the look of the hair pieces.

Do they stay attached to the heads well. Sometimes rubbery hair pieces tend to not attach as strong as hard plastic hair.

Actually, they're slightly different. While both are dark grey with blue and red printing, Boromir's have silver rather than gold on the edges of the blue, and Aragorn doesn't have the belt printed on, while Boromir does.
