Cammo Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 BTW I haven't seen a review where they confirm that the Army of the Undead minifigures have Glow in the Dark heads. So I presume they eventually don't glow? Quote

So I presume they eventually don't glow? Yeah, I kind of assumed they would as well, but I have not heard it confirmed. Anyone know about some glow action? Maybe the older age grouping on the package means they forgo the glow! Quote
prozac Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 They do in fact glow. I was hoping hands and part of the torsos would too but its just the heads. Quote
The_Creator Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) Seriously, where are the pictorial reviews!? Edited May 21, 2013 by The_Creator Quote

SMC Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 (edited) Hi just picked up Orc Forge from Tesco half price using double tesco points so only cost me £10 in points other sets were 25% off and looks like they are clearing them ready for the new sets so hope the UK will be getting them soon. When the sets first came out Orc Forge was the one I never thought I would get but the connection to the Tower of Orthanc (which I will get even at full price) meant I could not pass it up at that price. But I have to say the set is really nice and I like the lightbrick which I didn't think I would care about. I am now trying to work out if I should get any more Uruk-hai Army sets just for the minifigures but I have a rule not to buy more than one of each set and I am already planning to break it with two black gates but thats allowed cos Lego tells you to buy two. Anyway just waiting for a good pic review or pics of 2 sets put together. Come on people we don't have the sets yet in the UK so for now we have to live vicariously though you lucky ones. Blakstone Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 SMC, if it helps, LEGO wants you to buy multiple Uruk-Hai Army sets too. The instructions for Helm's Deep show two Uruk-Hai Army sets added to it. That is how I have my Helm's Deep model as well. Quote
SMC Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Just looked at the instructions and cant see where it shows two Uruk-Hai Army sets, which number book is it in. I must do what Lego tell me Quote
Infernum Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Does anyone know how much the Black Gate costs at TRU? Thanks in advance! Quote
Teh Stud Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Does anyone know how much the Black Gate costs at TRU? Thanks in advance! More than what it will cost from Lego.com. Quote
Leo604 Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Does anyone know how much the Black Gate costs at TRU? Thanks in advance! $69.99; Just2good posted a picture of the prices a couple pages back. Quote
Infernum Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 $69.99; Just2good posted a picture of the prices a couple pages back. Thanks! So with a BOGO it would cost $104.98 for two. $15 off is pretty good. Unless they raise the prices for the BOGO. Quote

SMC Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Was just joking about having to do what Lego told me to do but I have the rule to just buy one of any set to keep the cost down, there have been lots of sets I have wanted 2 of and if I had got them all I would spend way to much so the rule helps me not get carried away in the moment of a good sale or set. With LOTR Lego sets you could buy two or more of all of them and moc a bigger set to make it look more like the real thing but I have to stop some where. With the black gate I will get 2 sets because unlike other sets that are just a bit smaller than they should be the black gate is missing a lot of it and the second tower is a must for me so im glad that it is made to have two so I feel better about breaking my rule and won't mean that now I buy 2 of everthing. I need the rule to stop me buying too much. Do other people have rules for this reason? Quote

I need the rule to stop me buying too much. Do other people have rules for this reason? I just buy according to what I want and what my budget is; if I could I would get a second Uruk-hai Army set but unfortunately, similar to you, that doesn't qualify as something I would buy multiple times. And in response to your Uruk-hai Army question you could just get the minifigures off Briclink or eBay if you don't want to spend an excess amount of money on a whole new set. It'd be good for an expanded Helm's Deep MOC though, like Blakstone suggested. Quote
Gryphon Ink Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 SMC, I have the same rule, and the only set I have ever broken it for is Uruk-Hai Army. That I bought two of and would like to buy another. And I don't even do army-building in general, but something about seeing a horde of Orcs just tickles me. Plus, the set is a very good generic piece bucket for historical and fantasy building. You can do a lot of castle work with those parts. Quote
MrErikku Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Oh, dear. Old J.R.R. should have written a pronunciation guide! Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there one in the back of the Return of the King and the Silmarillion? Quote
8BrickMario Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I don't generally buy duplicates of a set, but the Black Gate is an obvious exception. If the set isn't an army builder, usually it has a minifigure you don't want more of. Quote

Darth Caedus Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 The problem with TBS' Black Gate review is that he complains about the price. You can't slag a $60 for having 656 pieces - the standard "golden" ratio is a 10 cent PTP, and this set beats that - and you get double the savings when you buy it twice, as many are going to do. Quote
Deathleech Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 Do other people have rules for this reason? I generally buy at least two of every set. I keep one in it's package and open the other. I do this in case anything ever breaks or I need more parts once a set is out of production, and also as an investment in case I ever want to sell the sets down the line (I don't see that happening since I am such a big LotR fan). Of course on some sets like the Uruk-hai Army one I will get several to build my armies up. I generally try to build my armies and sets based on condensed numbers from the films. So for instance if there are 10,000 Uruk-hai in the movie I wanted about 100. My goal is around 150 Mordor Orcs by the time this line ends and 50-75 Gondorians if they ever get released. I currently have 50 Rohirrium. I could go crazy and get hundreds upon hundreds of minifigs, but honestly after the first several dozen I didnt really get any joy out of getting more sets like the Uruk-hai Army. I also ONLY buy LotR and Hobbit Lego sets so that keeps the cost in check a bit. If these two lines end I might get into another Lego theme like the Super Heroes and stick strictly to that one. I like to just focus on one or two themes. Quote

I know, it's seems ridiculous but I don't want to denature the original LEGO sets. Quote
