Faefrost Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 In a strangely positive review of 79006 The Council of Elrond, I got it the other day and assembled it Friday Night. I hadn't worked out where to fit it in on my LotR shelf in my office yet, so it was sitting on my desk. Then the wife comes in and spots it... - "When did you get this one!?!" - "Oh it's the Fellowship" (This truly impressed me. My Wife is not a Tolkien fan and saw the movie once 10 years ago when she was sick. I never would have believed that she would remember the scene or recognize it this well. But Apparently Lego did a superb job of communicating the key elements. A non fan was immediately able to pick out the Ring on the stone table, Gimli gearing up tpo hit it etc) She looks at it a little more - "This really is a nice looking little set." (OK unusual statement from her. She tolerates my hobby more or less, and loves the Modulars, but rarely noticed the fantasy or SW stuff.) Looks at it a little more - "These colors really are gorgeous". - " You can put this one downstairs in the living room where people can see it" (Say what!?!?!?!) So my Elrond set has been confiscated for display in the living room... I'm not quite sure how I feel about this? Quote

I'm going to go back and nab a council; hopefully there's at least one still there! Last time I checked my local Walmart (Edmonton) they didn't have anything but that was a week ago so you never know. Nothing on their website yet either. The rest of this year is going to be stupid for Lego purchases, and my wife just told me to buy any super hero set (which blew me away). I was avoiding them to save money but now I'm just waiting to spring on an Arkham. Quote

Same thing happened with my wife when I got the Bagend set. Wife put it up on a narrow wall-mounted shelf in the living room. It looked awesome and was there for a couple of weeks until a nerf war broke out and it took a tumble :( now its on me and my sons lego shelf in his room - which is oddly a safer place for it. Nothing has been leaked, rumoured or confirmed. Also, 8BrickMario, LEGO does not have an s at the end to make it plural. LEGO is a word, like fish, that is singular and plural without a change to the word. Sorry, its just a massive pet peeve when people say LEGO with an s, especially from a LEGO fan. Quote

Fives Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 I have a feeling that, like last year, we might hear or see something at Comic-Con. Last year they showed us Bag End, maybe this year they'll show us... Beorn's House? Thranduil's Halls? Smaug? I wouldn't be surprised to see something to do with Mirkwood, since we already saw a bit of it in the first film, and there was a decent amount of early footage shown during the March live stream that Jackson and Brophy hosted. I would love to see what Thranduil will be like! One of my most anticipated sets of the next wave! Quote

If you click too many times, you have to edit, and sometimes you have to shut down the blasted machine before you are allowed to edit! I don't know why I continue to use it. I went to the Lego Store today and no signs of the 2013 Summer LOTR sets, then went to Toys R US and lo and behold they have them in stock, all of them. I'm gonna be near the Toys R Us by the Sherway Gardens mall on Wednesday, hopefully the have them. If TRU doesn't, then I doubt many others do (at least big box stores; I was able to get the entire Hobbit wave except for the Barrel set at the ToysToysToys at the Eaton Centre about three weeks before the official LEGO store release).
